Just a really poor account of ourselves. Skills are non-existent. We have failed to work hard enough on these for too long now.

Disappointed with the so-called creative midfielders. Rodan, Salopek, Boak and Gray have been lacklustre and have got caught with the ball too easily and haven't run anywhere near hard enough to stop their midfield opponents.

Thomas and Logan ironically are our best IMO. Pearce ok. I've liked Irons at times, while Pittard and O'Shea despite their clangers have done quite well in the one-on-ones.

We're a very, very ordinary football side and it will take Primus a couple of years to get us up to any sort of competitive level against the very good sides.

Disappointed with Gray, Chappy, Sal and a few others. I can understand the rookies making some skill errors, but when the better players and shanking them left and right, it makes it impossible.

Our midfield just got smashed during their run. Another area of concern.

I'm glad that we fought back in the second half of that quarter. Port Adelaide of last year would have dropped their heads and let it blow out even more. Still, disappointing that we let them accelerate away like that. Pittard, Irons and O'Shea are all doing some nice things to go with their rookie mistakes.

Well the match is over as a contest but we could have been another 2-3 goals closer if we had have kicked some of those goals from 25 out.

Its all about the skills. We just dont have the skills to compete with the best. And I could put up with that if we were constantly under pressure, but really its the absolute clangers when we are on our own which is the most depressing. Chaplin grubbing a kick to an opponent inside the 50 when hes 20 metres on his own, Thomas in the man on the mark, Pittard kicking to an opponent about 3 times, Carlile, Pearce missing targets. Its just debilitating trying to watch it.

Schulz' pain is Chads gain I suppose. I guess we will see what happens there, but losing our only experienced tall forward for the year in round 1 would not be much fun.

Am I surprised by the scoreline? Not at all, but somehow I just wish we would one day come out and really take it up to a team like this away from home, instead of being good for 10 minutes and falling in a heap of shit.

For all the work supposedly done on defensive structures, there was about 10 minutes of that quarter where we werent manning up on anyone....Collingwood must have had about 40 disposals to our 5 for a while there.

Positive note....not many. Gray, Cassisi and Kane have been good. Broadbent and P Stewart ok. Thats about it really. Our defence is poor, their midfield is winning easily and our forward line is borderline non-existant.

That run of goals was EXACTLY what i was hoping not to see this year, regardless of the opposition.

yea - we just had no idea how to stop it ... circa 07/08/09/10:(

Funny thing is inside 50 we are matching em yet 50 points down, I for one I am slightly pissed not ready to throw out our season, we were losing by sheer mistakes...that's hit evereything is going there way and not ours.

They are bombing goals from everywhere we can't get any from straight in front.

But in patches we have gone toe to toe with them even beaten them but ultimatly you can't give cooling the turnovers we have

Bring back the offseason!

Oh well, time to support Swan, Pendlebury, Jolly and Krakouer for the rest of the game I guess. At least we can take comfort in the fact that we certainly won't be the only team Collingwood do this to this year.

sorry for the intrusion guys but Doc Larkins is reporting on MMM they reckon the Schulz injury is a medial and not an ACL, so might not be too bad.
A torn medial ligament is a season ending injury so not any better news if that's the case.

Ions and Oshea looked composed.
grays finishing is pathetic.
When the tackling slackened Cwood got on top.
Port need to believe in themselves and each other to get something out of this and learn from a pro footy club!

Macca, this has been my bugbear throughout the preseason. Matty indicated we worked on skills "a bit". Well it shows. Given the amount of goals we concede from unforced clangers, it's about time someone addressed our skill levels as a team and at an individual level.

Logan's fumble late in that quarter from the Brogan back handball in the centre-square.
Chaplin's grubber - trademark Chappy.
Thomas's kick into the mark - trademark.
Kane failing to hit the goals from 40m out on the run in the first quarter - typical.

These serial offenders kill us often enough. But then when you have Stewart, Irons and Gray missing very gettable shots on goal, it is amplified so much more.

Until our skills improve, we're not going to progress up the ladder. I've got a feeling Primus has done very little in this regard, judging by what has been on show since rd 1 of the NAB Cup.

broadbent has had a few fumbles but has been very physical and found himself in contests plenty to like for a mid with less than 30 games!!!

i really hope he can go on and cement himself

again pittard knows how to find it, so too irons, i dare you to show me 2 better players this w/end at 18 and 19 yrs old.
