Would probably still prefer Gunston and Dangerfield. Could have traded for Jenkins another way. But anyway.

The thing with gws is that they had to make the move. They had to get rid of some bodies. With all the top draft picks they had there were bound to be some who missed out on game time. Remains to be seen whether the gws kids who didn't get game time and have moved on can further develop but there have been a few success stories- Bruce, miles, Tyson and a few others. On paper gws were killed in that trade but they'd be happy with the first rounder for next year. They weren't even that keen on their pick 8 this year as they're using it on their academy players anyway.

Reckon it's a big bonus that we used an extra pick from this year to bring in a high draft pick from 2012 where we didn't have a pick. Can hopefully lessen the impact of the draft sanctions if Menzel turns out to be a good player.

So it looks like GWS give 8, Plowman (previous pick 3), Lamb (previous pick 21), Phillips (developing ruck), Sumner (previous pick 10) and get 28 and Carlton's 2016 Rd 1 (which could be pick 1) in return?

Isn't it Geelong's first round pick that they have on traded?

I would put Edwards before Thompson every day of the week. He was elite.

It's hard to compare the two. For a large chunk of his career with us, Thommo carried our midfield. He was our elite mid.

I was a big fan of Tyson Edwards, but he played alongside players like Goodwin, McLeod and Roo for almost all of his career. He was never the number one or two midfielder, and reaped the rewards.

Again, that's not a knock on him. He was one of my favourites. But any comparison of him with Thommo has to factor in the quality of players around them - and the subsequent role they were required - and able - to play, as a result.

Think that Justin Reid's inclusion into the recruiting/trading group can not be understated. {Was Menzel's manager previously}

Noble and has team have mitigated that pale freckly figjam's departure by making our potential best 22 a much stronger more exciting group. We are now quicker oozing talent and x factor! Gee glad my little bloke was "unwell" today - I have wasted the entire morning but can't wait for season 2016!
