It is not excusing some just plain bad kicking as well. There is a lot wrong right now and it’s not a quick fix.

Yes, the kicking inside 50 has been bad. But let's be honest - the likes of Michalanney and Rachele are not poor kicks. The problem is created because 90% of the time we go inside 50 there is nothing whatsoever on offer. And all of those intercept marks and wasted opportunities start to create pressure to nail the next one.

Every other side in the competition is able to find a bunch of opportunities to hit up a player in motion in their forward line. Melbourne did it repeatedly tonight. Simple, easy kicks to advantage. That option isn't going to be there every time, but other clubs seem to be able to manufacture several of them per quarter.

Whereas it feels like we've barely had a handful of them all year.

Tonight, Laird was fortunate to receive the ball at one stage, and looked up to see Walker streaming towards him, and hit a simple 15m pass to advantage. How easy is that - even a garbage kick like Laird can nail it! If we could just create those opportunities more often throughout the game, we might actually manage to kick some goals.

(Benny Hill Music) Burns maybe a touch out of his depth , bugger all structure .VB’s an imposter -and what’s happened to the “Burgess fitness edge “ . Some better signs tonight , though by and large, it’s as if the whole team’s lost confidence in themselves.?? The dodgy decision with Rachele completely took the wind out of our sails , (and put a gail in Melb’s). Our issues are between the ears and surely that falls on the coach and assistants.

Laird was weak as piss in the contest multiple times, playing like he's already been paid so couldn't give a stuff as he's never losing his spot.

Keays skills seem to have fallen even further in the hole almost at McHenry levels now.

We just don't move the ball quick enough and have zero run from defence. We are such an easy team to defend against only need a well drilled zone.

Keays hasn’t changed he got away with it when we are playing better,

If you look at it, the team wasn’t hugely different to what put out last year.

So why the drop in skills? This is what I’m not getting. Last year it felt like we were improving. This year we have gone backwards so badly.

What’s happened, and whatever they’ve done, can’t they reverse it and go back to last years game plan?

How do you go from the most prolific scorers one year, to struggling to kick goals the next?
