Autopsy Post Mortem: Collingwood blow it again

There's still a manner on which you expect to see you team play.
Personnel or not- that game plan is all to familiar even with the names you mention.
It's utter garbage.

Manning up Geelong's spare in defence or having players forward of centre to kick to is not about personnel- that's system and the coach is responsible for this,

I don't disagree, but late in the last we were out of steam and couldn't get forward when we won the ball it seemed. Agree we should have manned up the spare but the reaction here is bewildering giving the mood this morning was one of anticipation of a smashing. People need to stop saying how crap our coaching is when we lose to superior sides late, the coaching got us into the winning position to start with. Anyway, we lost as expected, lets move on.

**** the negative posters that was a brave performance. Yeah we made some mistakes, missed some chances and stuffed around with the footy (when don't we?), but utimately we ran out of puff in the last quarter. Young bodies will do that. With even just one or two of our missing third 18 we win that.

Great to see Broomhead, Cox and Aish show something too.
**** the delusional posters that was a shit performance.

Bit hard to play an attacking game plan for 4 quarters when you have Smith, Blair, Phillips, Aish instead of Pendlebury, Wells, DeGoey, Greenwood. It has a lot to do with personnel.

Really, Cal Brown and Daicos aren’t ready. Smith is suspect by foot. Blair wasn’t great. Smith is temporary. We have a lot of players in that team that wouldn’t be getting a game for other teams. Cats have some youngsters playing also but their best players saw them over them line.

5th time this year we've blown a 4+-goal lead.

What a waste of a season.
I've posted this previously. It doesn't matter at which stage of the game, whether it's the 1st or last quarter, we do not hold on to leads. We don't defend leads. We allows teams back in the game with poor skills that results in turn overs and easy scores kicked against us.
We over possess the ball when we have moment and don't trouble the score board.
Whenwe give up momentum any lead we've built over a long long long long long period of time is eroded within minutes.

We used to smash the inside 50 numbers and still lose, now we aren’t competitive with inside 50’s and still lose.

That was one of Aishes better games which worries me. He was still a non factor and was playing a role where we have better players in.

Nathan just sat there doing SFA as we lost that. HE IS DONE.

Spot on assessment, everyone watching could see it except for our coaches box. Or they could see it and too stubborn to adapt and change. Hopefully Buckleys 2nd last game as coach.
Good to see Dsicos out there, will be a handy player.
Interested to know what people thought of Aish's game? To me he seems too slow for the level

Cox was good.

But **** me what exactly is it the other two showed?

Talk about head in the sand. Christ.

The coaching got us into a winning position? Have you seen his game style over the least 6yrs?
I didn't realise "winning positions" were the measures of high performance these days at our club.

Full of excuses to defend the indefensible.
They were also missing Selwood and Hawkins of note.

The players you mentioned like Phillips have been regulars all season- alarm bells.

Please wake up and see the reality of what we have become under Nathan.

One game left in the season and the coach doesn't have a contract for next season, read the tea leaves
Yes the tea leaves reading, being very quaint and all, says two more years

Not a bad effort early but to kick only 2 goals in the second half when we had the opportunities was disappointing.
Both sides missing a couple of players but I think our outs hurt a lot more. If Pendles or Wells played instead of Phillips/Smith we win.

Before the game started most of us tipped Geelong and by a higher margin than the end result. But to be in our position early I really thought we were going to win this game. Geelong were a few steps back on what they were last week and were ripe for the picking. Just a shame in the last qtr we lacked composure kicking out of defence.

Loved Adams game, 12 tackles and so many desperate acts. Will be our next captain.

Scharenberg building and building. Will only get better.

Reid struggled today, shows we really need that key forward to work in tandem with Moore.

Haha what the f*&k do you idiots expect?
Do you think this is the team the club would select?
Do you reckon we would like to have Pendlebury, Grundy, Wells, Varcoe, DeGoey, Greenwood, Wills not playing?
Were playing a top 4 team.

Haha, did you enjoy watching that?

People wouldn't be upset if we played a good brand of footy and just come up short.

People are upset about playing an atrocious keeping's off, negative, defensive tripe and blowing leads due to trying to protect small leads after a quarter of footy. Using last quarter *hold on* tactics in the 2nd quarter ffs.

Who cares how many are out I'd rather see the team lose by 30 playing a fast attacking instinctive brand and system then watch this ring a round a rosy defensive shit and still lose.

If that is the brand Buckley is looking to achieve long term then even our wins are going to be bitter sweet.

I watched this game on my mobile phone and wasn't getting good resolution. This, coupled with the constant miss-callings of players names from everyone in the box made it a little harder to tell who was doing what during wide shots.

A couple of things I do know, Blair and Smith are at best depth. Bottom of the pack depth.

Can Buckley counter an opposition coaches adjustments?

Nope, Buckley has plan A and plan A, and if plan A doesn't work we continue with plan A.

Fast start with plenty to like. Then the experienced Geelong adjusted and we werent able to.

We've been calling on the kids to be played all year and we finally got it today. But that's what you get with kids...up and down performances.

We had a very thin midfield but they didnt get outmuscled as bad as i thought. They stood up.

Scharenberg again impressive and Cox really played well as number 1 ruck. Will be an interesting decision next week with Grundy back, but i hope they stick with Cox in the side. Maybe throw Reid back in defence. Langdon was ok.

Overall i am happy enough. I was dissapointed in the last 5 minutes we didn't throw everything at the win. We took no risks and also didn't even the numbers up ahead of the ball.

We really need to move beyond the likes of Smith and Blair, and i think Phillips has faded as the year wore on but another pre season might do him wonders.

Daicos and Brown will get a huge learning experience out of that. Impressive to see Daics have 8 tackles. He isnt scared to get involved and didnt look over awed out there.

Ah yes, the players get us in front on their own and then the coach loses it from there. How silly of me. We should be winning every match comfortably regardless of the personnel.

But really, we had no right to even be "in" this match given the gap in talent on the park, but your little meltdown is amusing nevertheless.
