People need to understand that large parts of this are also about the role the player is asked to play and how well they performed the role asked.

That is why guys who are seen as average like Duggan, Cole, Cripps etc poll so well in the B+F.

Are people silly enough to think that the people who vote on the B+F don't take into account the role prescribed and the talent level of the player?

Bigfooty knows best though, you should've picked up on that by now.

Only we can see how limited and average Duggan can be. The MC obviously think he's great and and AA+ grade midfielder.

I love Dugg, so don't get me wrong.
I just don't think Best Clubman award should go to a Captain of the side.
More beneficial to give it to unsung player IMHO

Then that would be best unsung hero award. Thats not what best clubman is. Looks after players, organises activities maybe, changes things up for players at club (non training related), checks on injured players, if someone is along in rehab, they join in.

I think thats what best clubmen do. It’s not a student of the week thing where everyone gets an award.

Just looking at the AFL summary of Brownlow history by club,

https://www.afl.com.au/news/1222487/your-clubs-brownlow-winners-most-three-vote-games

interesting to note that two players top the average votes per game at two clubs. Dangerfield at both Crows and Cats, Judd at both WC and Carlton.
Of interest, the Judd votes per game was higher at Carlton even though the general consensus seems to be that we got the better years out of him.

A reputation he built at West Coast
