Re: Post Your Team Part 2

This is the first side I was reasonably happy with.

Def : Scotland (Carl), Corey (Geel), Shaw H(Coll), Howard (WBD), Moore(Port), Clarke M (Coll), Heath (Syd), Reserves: Ellis (Rich) Darley (GWS)
Mid: Boyd (WBD), van Berlo (Adel,) Moloney (Mel), Kerr (WCE), Dangerfield(Adel) McDonald (GWS), Reserves : Pfeiffer (Port) , Magner (Mel)
Ruck: Cox(WCE), McIntosh(NM) Reserves: Giles (GWS) Stephensen (Geel)
Fwd: Chapman (Geel) Beams(Coll), Goodes (Syd), Gray (Port), Hurley (Ess), Fasolo (Coll), Butcher (Port) Reserves: Zorko (Bris), Sexton(GC)

....but was pondering if I could afford to keep Cox. So I did some tinkering. I think I have shored up the forward line. I am sure to do some last minute tinkering once the Rd 1 teams are announced, and again before price changes kick in to rid the team of player how are going to drop in value.

Anyway this is what I have come up with.
Def : Scotland (Carl), Corey (Geel), Shaw H(Coll), Howard (WBD), Moore(Port), Clarke M (Coll), Heath (Syd), Reserves: Ellis (Rich) Darley (GWS)
Mid: Boyd (WBD), van Berlo (Adel,) Moloney (Mel), Kerr (WCE), Dangerfield (Adel) McDonald (GWS), Reverves : Pfeiffer (Port) , Magner (Mel)
Ruck: Hill(Ess), McIntosh(NM) Reserves: Giles (GWS) Stephensen (Geel)
Fwd: Chapman (Geel) Beams(Coll), Goodes (Syd), Gray (Port), Hurley (Ess), Lewis (Haw), Butcher (Port) Reserves: Pattinson (Haw), Sexton(GC)

I will be looking more closely at rookies which will actually play when team lists come out. Really looking for a couple rookie "certain starts" for the back line though.

Re: Post Your Team Part 2

Hmm nice find. I must have taken an immediate dislikening to him from following a few draftees and taking notice that many said he was avg and just had a name.

Is he related to anyone like Paul couch? or am i thinking of someone else.

Melbourne certainly have a few spots to upgrade too and you would think Magner and Couch after preseason efforts so far could certainly be that.

Mature aged always helps.

Re: Post Your Team Part 2

There is one person that is ahead of Pfeifer and Devon Smith... but 50/50 if he'll get upgraded... :( (But he IS in best 21 on skill/talent/fitness/etc. so I have him in my team atm, only thing that would prevent him being best 21 is structure)

Couch?

Edit: didn't read second page of thread before posting.

Yeh I've got him as well ATM. Will definitely still be in my team for Rd 1 if promoted and named. I can see him averaging better than Tapscott did for DT last season if he can cement a spot.

My team is pretty much set...

BACKS

Goddard, Deledio, Duffield, Grimes, Waters, Hargrave, Ellis (Webberley, Wilkes)

MIDFIELDERS

Pendlebury, Ablett, Murphy, Atley, McDonald, Devon Smith (Magner, Neale)

RUCKS

Mumford, McEvoy (Giles, Redden)

FORWARDS

Johnson, Pavlich, Martin, N. Riewoldt, J. Lewis, Porplyzia, Pffeifer (Couch, Skinner)

Pretty happy with most it, any suggestions/feedback??

Re: Post Your Team Part 2

With Couch and Magner both being rookies will Melbourne be able to upgrade both of them to the senior list?

With Gawn out there is one spot at least, don't they have another injured ruckman?? Spencer maybe??

Gawn & Spencer both on LTI list + Green on the veterans list means they can elevate 3 players if they want. Dan Nicholson is the other player being considered for promotion I believe. Not sure if Dee's will promote all 3 of Magner, Couch & Nicho as they are midfield size players. I would think they will upgrade 2 of them at the most. Nicho and Magner look the most obvious ATM. Unfortunately Couch may be the unlucky one to miss out.

Re: Post Your Team Part 2

That's his dad. :thumbsu: Nice pedigree.

Maybe you got confused with Brad Crouch from Adelaide who is ineligible to play this year due to age.

Yeh thats the thing. Everyone was saying hes pretty avg wasnt expected to get picked up but his name got him across the line. This was during the trade and drafts talk. Will keep an eye on him, if he gets elevated he will play so thats the only question mark surrounding him and we will know before round 1.

Hes worth the risk even if he doesnt play not alot else going around in the forwards. D.Smith if i can find the money for him looks the best. Hall only had hamstring tightness from the sounds of it so he certainly has to be considered esp with the way he played in round 1 NAB. If Treloar plays round 4 of NAB than is named for round 1 proper than ill pick him.

Kerridge wont play round 1 unless he has two blinders to finish with in the NAB.

Hall's hamstring tightness worries me. Didn't play last week and not selected this week.

Also to note D.Smith not named this week either.....not sure why?

What happens to Couch, Magner, any elevated rookie, when a player like Gawn is removed from the LTI? Do they drop back to the rookie list and can no longer be selected?

Re: Post Your Team Part 2

No, once a rookie is elevated they will remain on the senior list regardless of injured players returning.

Im not too sure about that. Every club can only have the same amount of players to pick from im pretty sure. So once the injured player returns to the "SENIOR" list than that rookie gets placed back on rookie list or another LTI goes onto the rookie list.

Amiright?

Favouring this response but for some reason Round 11 is resonating in my mind as having some significance.

West Coast rookie Adam Cockie was promoted to the senior list in 2009 after Luke Shuey was placed the LTI list, then demoted back to being a rookie after Shuey returned later in the season.

That's one case I recall.

Yep at round 11 you can upgrade 2 rookies no matter what. Thats my understanding anyway. I think the thinking or the reasoning for this rule was that as teams get on in the afl season they get an increase in injuries and some teams like freo last year at some times cant even name 25 fit players (+3 emergencies) so the extra 2 players can help teams that have been unlucky with injuries.

Magner doesnt really have to worry, Tom Couch maybe has more of a concern.

Im pretty sure the dees can upgrade one player for due to veterans. However im not sure how long Gawn and Fitzpatrick are out for? gawn may be out for at least half the season or the full season i remember him having surgery in the PS, correct me if im wrong?

So melbourne could have 2 rookies that could play basically the whole year if Gawn isnt expected to return till midway.

You are allowed up to two players to be listed on the veterans list. If one of both of those spots are filled, then a club may nominate a rookie to play in that spot instead. Otherwise, a rookie can be promoted to the senior list to cover a long term injury.

I'm a little fuzzy on the Round 11 rules.

Backs: Goddard, deledio, broughton, waters, hargraves, bugg, b.ellis (smedts, L.brown)

Mids: Swan, Ablett, Murphy, J.Selwood, wingard, sheil (magner, kerridge)

Rucks: cox, leunberger (Giles, Stephenson)

Forwards: Franklin, goodes, zaharakis, Martin, porps, saad, t.walsh (trelour, hall)

Any pointers?
Thinking going wingard to d.smith
Luey to h.mac
And then may upgrade a defender to another premium

Yeah this is pretty much correct. If you're club doesn't have two vets, you can promote 2 rookies. 1 vet 1 rookie, and 2 vets no rookies. For LTI's, you can promote a rookie to take the injured players place on the senior list, but when the LTI returns to the senior list the rookie player must return to the rookie list.

For mid season, each team can promote 1 rookie.

So in short, for round 1, each team has the ability to have 40 players on their senior list. From mid season, each side can have 41.

I think GWS and GC can have a few more on their lists for now though. I think GWS' list size is 50.

As far as I'm aware, these are the rules. I could be slightly off, or the rules could have changed, though.

Yeah well explained.

I think your right except i always thought it was 2 rookies at round 11 not one that can be upgraded.

I think the thing to remember is if a club upgrades a player than they will play, otherwise they are paying money for them to be on the senior list.

Thoughts on this team? Is Casboult likely to get much gametime for the blues?
