Yep at round 11 you can upgrade 2 rookies no matter what. Thats my understanding anyway. I think the thinking or the reasoning for this rule was that as teams get on in the afl season they get an increase in injuries and some teams like freo last year at some times cant even name 25 fit players (+3 emergencies) so the extra 2 players can help teams that have been unlucky with injuries.

Magner doesnt really have to worry, Tom Couch maybe has more of a concern.

Im pretty sure the dees can upgrade one player for due to veterans. However im not sure how long Gawn and Fitzpatrick are out for? gawn may be out for at least half the season or the full season i remember him having surgery in the PS, correct me if im wrong?

So melbourne could have 2 rookies that could play basically the whole year if Gawn isnt expected to return till midway.

Re: Post Your Team Part 2

Yeah well explained.

I think your right except i always thought it was 2 rookies at round 11 not one that can be upgraded.

I think the thing to remember is if a club upgrades a player than they will play, otherwise they are paying money for them to be on the senior list.

This team is pretty well balanced and very similar to my structure. My big worry with this team would be going with HMac considering there is a good chance him and Goldy are going to share the ruck... However, if you think his TOG and resting fwd will be productive enough then it is probably a valid selection and just me trying to find something to worry about.

I do like the look of dangerfield, cameron, masten and brodie smith but I think cameron is unlikely to get much in a true GWS turn out (when their opposition is playing a full best 21), and Masten is well... the biggest spud in the entire eagles squad (which I know is meaningless for DT scoring potential... but I just don't like him.). If you think Masten is a shoe in for one of the midfield spots in the eagles line up then jump on board. I wouldn't touch him, ever. Too painful to watch play football. Dangerfield is again just not an accumulator. That could change and this could be his year, but I think he is a classy act and a great player, but not DT friendly. Brodie Smith is probably my favourite of these 4 picks, and if he continues to get the same lucrative role as has been seen so far in the NAB then I might just have to mess with my team to fit him in. Otherwise 95% perfect team (pending rnd 1 team sheets of course).

Oh and you better hope porps pops his shoulder this w/e so you don't have it happen to your side in round 1/2. :D Though he did destroy last weekend... so you almost have to start him despite the risk.

My suggestions:
-ditch Masten for a rookie
-use cash to upgrade porps to premo / someone else
-switch out cameron for better fwd rookie (hampton might be better gws option if they have to be from gws for whatever reason... watch closely this w/e)

Alternatively (given you assume porps will last long enough to get to premo price):
-ditch masten for rookie
-upgrade dangerfield
-upgrade hmac

If not enough cash:
-downgrade coniglio to cheaper rookie that will outscore coniglio

Alternatively (given you assume porps will last long enough to get to premo price):
-ditch masten for rookie ( Ebert going to Port, this is Mastens year to cement his role in the team, i think he can average 90 + and will be easy to upgrade to Swan later on.
-upgrade dangerfield ( This will be Dangerfields break out season, he cannot play on the half forward flank much longer its his 4th/5th year.
-upgrade hmac ( Think he will actually outscore Goldie, and will average 80 +, eventually i will upgrade Giles to Cox.

If not enough cash:
-downgrade coniglio to cheaper rookie that will outscore coniglio
Which rookie has more job security that will outscore him?

Re: Post Your Team Part 2

This is my latest attempt. Listed the players with their bye rounds. I think between the DPPs I can get away with minimal zeros..... I hope. My main concern is that some of my rookies actuall have to play for this to work... something I can trade out of in round 4 to 6...... again I hope.

Def : Carrazo (13), Corey (12), Shaw H(12), Howard (11), Moore(13), Clarke M (12), Heath (12), Reserves: Ellis (13) Darley (11)
Mid: Boyd (11), van Berlo (11,) Moloney (12), Bartell (12), Chapman (12) McDonald (11), Reverves : Pfeiffer (13) , Magner (12)
Ruck: Clarke, Z (12), McIntosh(11) Reserves: Giles (11) Stephensen (12)
Fwd: Johnson, S (12) Beams(12), Goodes (12), Gray (13), Dangerfield (11), Lewis (13), Butcher (13) Reserves: Pattinson (13), Sexton(13)

Re: Post Your Team Part 2

Def - Goddard, Shaw, Deledio, Birchall, Heppell, Hargrave, Morris(Bugg, L.Brown)

Mid - Swan, Boyd, Ablett, Selwood, Lucas, Clifton(McDonald, Magner)

Rucks - Sandilands, Giles(Redden, Stephenson)

Forwards - Franklin, Robinson, Zaharakis, Martin, Zorko, Hampton, Smith(Treloar, Hall)
Probably my favourite of all the teams I have seen posted. I think the only worry is whether some of those forwardline rookies will get up for round 1. I really like the pick of Robinson presuming he doesn't play any games as a tagger in the forwadline. He's also a bit of an injury and suspension risk because of the way he plays but definitely see some upside, surprised he hasn't gotten more of a mention.

Are you serious? Did you read any of the part 1 thread? That team is terribly balanced. Though it is a simple fix... shifting some backline premiums into fwd premiums and fwd rookies into back rookies....

Zorko and Treloar unsighted and unlikely to play rnd 1.... though supposably Treloar will be 'alright' for rnd 1... wouldn't bet on it.

"Terribly balanced?" Complete bullshit!

I understand the risks with the forward rookies which is why I mentioned it in my response. It is entirely possible that they will need to change their team significantly if those rookies don't get up for round 1 but assuming the rookies do get up for round 1 I believe it is a great team.

Thats a gutsy team. If that comes off you will win by miles! My main cocnern is the rucks, not sure iether of those guys will give you the numbers you need.

A lot of those defenders could very well improve significantly, but if they don't....

5 premium mids was an idea I was thinking about but havn't gone through with. Will be very interstested to see what Bartel does this year.

I wouldn't have thought this year was worth taking a risk wiht rucks with about 6 premiums at least who should do the job.

I think this is a very interesting team. It is one of the very few teams I've seen that you could legitimately say has 16 premiums (keepers) in it.

Hayes is your risk-play, but could very well work out for you. And you aren't reliant on Giles as you R2.

Not sure about Boumann and Dell Olio as your D9 and F9, you might need to find some money to strengthen those areas.

Adams is a sneaky premium unique/difference i just dont know enough about the player and i wouldn't say he is absolutely proven just yet.

Avg over 95 in his last 6. Ziebell missing the first 2 games and Wells unsure on when he will return could mean increased midfield time for Adams and the best thing is he has the R11 bye.

Gia, Adams, Kruezer and McIntosh IMO wont be premium keepers and if you're going for the top prize will need to be traded
