Imagine having two Matthew Scarletts in your backline! Even better than the Scott twins at Brisbane.
We'll see if they're any good first.
Can a club father-son twins in the same year? Need a lot of points.
Essendon have the Davey twins this year.

Boston Riccardi got the best on medal in the division 1 15years V/line cup game 2 for Barwon yesterday. There are a few NGA boys playing in the tournament.

Geelong’s next wave of father-son prospects on the way thanks to Cats academy

The names Mooney, Wojcinski and Riccardi are famous at Geelong. And they could all be on their way to the hoops after joining up with the club’s academy.

A potential next wave of father-son prospects went through their paces and watched AFL training at Geelong Grammar on Friday, with Jagger Mooney, Alfie Wojcinski and Boston Riccardi not having to search too far for inspiration.

Boston’s brother Osca had a helping hand through the academy and was picked up as a father-son recruit by the Cats earlier this month, following in the footsteps of his father, 288-game wingman Peter.

Jagger Mooney, Boston Riccardi and Alfie Wojcinski are learning off Geelong’s next generation academy.
A trio of famous Geelong names have a clear pathway to the top after linking up with the club’s next generation academy.

The father-son prospects catch up with Ollie Dempsey, Max Holmes and Sam De Koning.

Mooney, the won of All-Australian forward Cameron, and Wojcinski, son of three-time flag winning speedster David, have shown plenty of potential, according to academy coach Paul Hood.

All three teens play in the same Newtown & Chilwell junior side, under the coaching of David Wojcinski.

“They are really dedicated footballers and all three of them have started to really improve on their trajectory over the past few years,” Hood said.

“Alfie has a really good footy brain, he thinks about the game a lot and is really passionate about his footy.

“Jagger is tall and growing rapidly. He is actually an outstanding cricketer as well. I coached him in the school cricket team a few weeks ago and he took 5-2.”

Arguably no AFL club has benefited more from father-sons than Geelong, who landed all-time greats like Gary Ablett Jr, Matthew Scarlett and Tom Hawkins through the rule.

On the current list, Hawkins, Sam Simpson, Jed Bews and Osca Riccardi are father-sons.

Alongside the father-son prospects, the Cats academy aims to draw in local indigenous and multicultural players to help them with their AFL dream.

Midfielder Ted Clohesy was recently added to Geelong’s rookie list after spending the past few years working with the academy.

Hood said the club works with AFL Barwon to identify talent in the region, tests them out and then works with the Geelong Falcons continue their growth.

“These guys, we will start working with them really seriously from 15 years of age,” he said.

“Hopefully with Ted getting a spot on the list, the youngsters around town and in this group realise there are many different pathways to getting to the AFL and this is a great opportunity for them if they qualify.”

With a name like Jagger Mooney, there is no F/S I will ever want to see succeed more.

His father is quite possibly the reason I fell in love with the Cats

Lets hope he doesnt choose cricket then.

It's hard to see why he wouldn't choose cricket, really.

Thoroughly professional organisation, you play in front of massive crowds, and the culture within the national team is clearly magnificent right now.

Oh, wait...

Yeah between the backstabbing players like Pat and the delusional sooking from Warner it’s doing wonders for the culture atm

Have a look at the face on Jagger Mooney. He is the image of his old man.
If Cam decided to get a DNA test on Jagger to determine if he was the father, it would be a complete waste of money.
