We have a ruck who can do the job but refuse to play, and we keep playing Jonas even tho he proved he wasn’t up to it over a year ago while refusing to try pasini even once.

Hayes is useless. Jonas is finished but most here seem to think Pasini has been terrible in the SANFL. Neither of these selection decisions were the difference.
The only positive that I see is the national media got to witness what we have know for a long time - Jonas is cooked and captain or not he has no place in the team.
Hopefully that sinks in and they can stop bringing it up as if it is some kind of ruthless call not picking him.

I also think it was Jones on Motlop and agree he displayed bad judgement on the ball vs man decisions he had to make.

As if he'd been injured rather than dropped and spudding it up in the sanfl.
Absolute bullshit.
Hayes was well serviceable against the guy that will be all-aus ruck.
Lycetts absolute capitulation against dekoning in the first Qtr set the tone for the game and allowed blues to jump us.
We absolutely should have tried pasini by now, Jonas has been out of form at all levels for years now.
It’s inexcusable and those selections quite obviously cost us to anyone with eyes.

Lycett was very important and showed great form on his return to the team mid season and if he was fit Hayes had to make way after being flogged by Witts.
Yes those decisions cost us to the tune of 50 points moron.
Lycetts been cooked for 2 years now and has put up some of the worst performances by any ruck in a port guernsey the club has ever seen. Had a good what? 2-3 game run after being tested before predictably returning to ultra-useless spud.
Hayes put up a better showing against the shoe in all-aus ruck than lycett put up against dekoning, who is a nobody and one of the worst rucks in the league.

If I’m not mistaken Lycett pantsed the shoe-in AA ruck Tim English earlier in the season.
Pasini could be spudding it up while wearing a swastika for all I care.
Through a period Jonas has been outright horrible for 2 years + and we’ve gone into dozens of games with smalls taking kpp spots we should have given a shot to the untried key defender on our list.
Hell every sub 186cm bloke on our list can get games regardless of sanfl form or readiness.
I also don’t buy the ‘his form isn’t good stuff’
What key defender ever has in our sanfl squad?

McKenzie is clearly above that level, has played plenty of games there and I’m not sure he’s ever looked particularly great there?

Oh the mid year game? The second time we played the dogs.
We know lycett had a good couple of games this year in between getting spanked off the park in career best games by his opponents regularly.
How anyone can defend his selection when he’s been absolute horseshit far more often than he’s been good the last couple of years and after a game where he got towelled up by a nobody is beyond me.

The problem with Lycett is if he's off 1 percent or not in combative mode he's totally fukcin' useless.
You can slag Hayes all you like, but Scott doesn't do anything around the ground & rarely even takes a fukcing mark so what are you actually losing? you are losing decent tap work from Hayes that's what.

I think everyone agrees we have a major deficiency in ruck and it needs to be addressed in the off-season. Players the calibre of Fort and Sweet won’t cut it.

Even though we won 13 in a row it wasn't a dominant 13, it was largely a gutsy, grinding 13. So to throw in a diabolical performance like that - on top of the two similarly diabolical performances immediately prior to the 13 wins - makes you wonder just how good we actually are. In other words, our losses appear more damning than our wins appear reaffirming, if that makes sense.
The biggest concern though is the draw. The next 3 are very, very difficult. We could play outstanding footy and lose all 3. And after that it's GWS and Freo away, neither of which are simple assignments. A lot can and will change but you probably wouldn't tip us to win any of those games except GWS if they were being played today, and even that would be line ball.
Daddy is going to need to pull a rabbit out of the hat because things could go awry very quickly for him if there isn't a massive improvement on yesterday and fast.
