Can someone tell me what happened to Gideon Simon? Why did he end up leaving us? I think he left early and without explanation if I remember correctly?

Think he just got quietly delisted, was a bit of a PR exercise signing him I reckon. Remember he was nowhere near it at VFL level. Matty Clarke special.

I don’t believe that, I remember at the time people thought he was the doozie ….. I think he had a bright future ahead of him but something happened! I’m not sure what it is but he just mysteriously left and never came back

I heard he had some issues back home which could have been the reason for visa issues etc.

Also if you saw him, he looked 32 when he was allegedly a teen, reckon we found out his real age . Was a serious athlete though.

Yep that’s how I remember him too, a beast of an athlete …… makes a lot more sense leaving because of issues back home, it was just kept very secretive though which seemed strange

The age thing is a problem in PNG. Not so much now, I was taking the underwood 20s for the world youth cup qualifiers , if our President wasn’t the head of the public service back then we would never have got passports ….no birth certificates
