Now, as a recently-acquired Carlton player, Whiley is hell bent on being there a fourth time, when the Blues front Richmond in the 2015 season opener on the place famously known as the paddock that grew.

We need to be very careful with Giles or it will become another waster second round pick. IMO with that injury he's only really going to have a good chance of showing some good football in 2016. 2015 should be ALL about getting fitter and bigger.

We have a few country kids in our mix now which is, to coin a word I have also been wont to use as one myself, grouse.

A few good things about learning your footy in a country town like his are that you play against men at an early age when you are good and you have to take some punishment from them; you have some great role models in guys who have made it (Hawkins, Crawford etc) to inspire you; you have serious rivalries against neighbouring towns with long traditions so the will to win is honed; and you play with mates, which makes it so much more fun.
