Not sure if you saw the game flea, but he was awful mate.

10 touches, spent a lot of time on the ball and finished with 7 HOs. Very early days and he will have better games but the disgraced commentator in dermot brereton was singing his praises 5 mins into the first quarter because he had a couple of hit outs. It was nauseating.
King embarrassed himself more calling him "an elite ruckman".
(Although some of his taps to adv were quite good tonight).

King is an embrassment, its amazing the clowns that are allowed in the com box but that's a tired argument.

Yeah true agree there were a few he had... But he spent a fair time in the ruck tonight, he was bound to get some taps otherwise something is really wrong. Regardless if Hawks and commentators want to spin his contribution, it was poor.

It was typical Vickery all potential but no delivery.....

But you need more than 4....And 4 is a stretch.

Without knowing the conversation history I would say we have 5.

I would also say that 5 is more than enough and it is the tier below elite that we have lacked for too long.

If you look at last years premiers you would be hard pressed to pick 5 elite players but you could easily pick 10 very good players.

We have probably had up to 5 very good players in any given season and then maybe 5 good players and the rest average. We really have been struggling to eliminate the average players in our team and that has put more weight on our elite players which has reduced their impact on games.

It's the middle of the night so I'll go into more detail.

Let's say each player is rated on a 5 point scale where; 1 = shit, 2 = average, 3 = good, 4 = very good, 5 = elite

Most Premiership teams best 22 would score around 80.

How I would rate our best 22 team

Rance 5
Martin 5
Cotchin 5
Riewoldt 5
Prestia 4 - 5
Houli 3 - 4
Miles 3 - 4
Vlastuin 3 - 4
B. Ellis 2 - 4
Edwards 2 - 4
Grimes 3 - 4
Caddy 3 - 4
Griffiths 2 - 4
Lloyd 3 - 4
Grigg 3
Astbury 2 - 3
Rioli 2 - 4
McIntosh 2 - 4
Markov 2 - 4
Hampson 2 - 3
C.Ellis 2 - 4
Short 2 - 3

The lower estimate of that team gets us to 65 which is likely to not see us playing finals but the upper estimate of that group is 89, and while it is unlikely each player reaches their upper estimate, it indicates that the team is capable of reaching a level require to win the flag.

Reducing the number of 2s, or even 1s is critical to success.

Good night!

Alan Turing, is that you?

Nice work, but is it possible to do this for the 17 other clubs so we can compare your final numbers of 65 to 89 otherwise it all means meh.
Good morning.

xxxx xx xxxxT...HOW'S THAT FOR A REPEAT!
Obvious as the outcome was a negative output and a resemblance of the past. Preseason noise and celebrations with all fans left pondering. Now if you read the article as a whole you would have seen I'm hopeful again, but people are entitled to be pessimistic based on history .lets all wait for a few games before we start dancing in front of the mirror naked.

Doing well in an intraclub match means nothing because it's not like they had a decent opponent to go up against. Only decent matchup would be jack vs Rance. Noone in the middle is anywhere near Dusty's level and we have no other quality elsewhere on the park.

Cotch ???.........I think would be competitive at least....

I want to see Richmond play close to full-strength but without Rance in one of the intraclub matches. I want to get a feel on how we do without him. Maybe the match against Adelaide given that:
1. They'll probably test our defence more than any team in the competition.
2. It is at a deck where Adelaide can score fairly quickly.

I think it would be a huge test. Don't want the club being too reliant on Rance.

.............................

Bill Bixby - He is known for his roles as Tim O'Hara on the CBS sitcom My Favorite Martian, Tom Corbett on the ABC comedy-drama series The Courtship of Eddie's Father, and stage illusionist Anthony Blake in the NBC crime drama series The Magician, but is perhaps best known for his role as scientist Dr. David Banner on the CBS science-fiction drama series The Incredible Hulk.

I'd have Rance jack and Martin as elite, with prestia the possible 4th but we haven't seen him play for us.

Nowhere close. Martin is a significant level of strength, ball winning ability and game impact above cotchin at this point in time.
