I went for about 1.5 hrs
Various skills areas around the ground that the players rotated through
I tried to mainly watch Murphy + Stephenson —- it’s weird realising that they’re really just kids and they certainly are thin and need lots of time in the gym

They started w a goal kicking comp (about 6+ players) lowest score had to buy coffees for top score
Senior players seemed relaxed during this drill - Murphy (esp) + Stephenson not so much
Stephenson did kick many of his (or just miss) - to my eyes, a slightly strange kicking action
Murphy was all over the shop (run up looked to prescribed and he was nervous ... I think he lost)

Murphy was much better in next activity when got to interact w other players more and use his skill in gathering and delivering

A few other notes:
- JDG looked in good nick
- Maynard will get Brownlow votes in 2018 - and if his track for is any indication, may break opposition bones in his tackling
- Cal + Daic jnr looked good
- Rookie from Sydney more conditioned than I thought + will and run / strength off hbf
- Players looked relaxed and really enjoying session

The HC ground can get stuffed - a truely annoying venue to watch footy at
No grandstand for height or to view the other side of the ground — and no shade protection

Not really, I find the ground to be perfect to view the players, if you can't see them from one side then move to the other side where you can get a better view. It is the best location in Melbourne to watch them train, we should be proud to be in the sporting precinct where the action doesn't stop over the summer... Eddie made sure we were seen in landscape by placing us in the precinct, without his contribution I don't think we'd be as prominently exposed to the public.

By the way, I know on good authority they can't build a grandstand in the area as the government wants to maintain an environmental friendly resource.

Cheers on the report
Murrays ready to go
Very strong
I too get frustrated with the facilities , providing no shade is criminal in this day and age
How about some shade sails in our colours or with past champions names
We really need to improve this

Fair enough- I don’t agree at all re watching training / games (esp about having to move around ground to see action) but each to their own

Bummer about grandstand - would vastly improve it for spectators

But can we do shade sails on the outer aami side?

Murphy's Goal Kicking was said to be All Over the Place. Way better Field Kick

I think Stephenson has a Interesting Ball Drop

No, I don't think it would pass through to use sails for a winter sport, for all the hassle we have an MCG sized ground to train on so we have to put up with the sun for a short time, considering it is only between December and February. If you are so concerned about the heat be sun smart, most of the time you should be fine if you prepare.

With respect, I am someone who cannot stand in the hot sun AT ALL, regardless of using sunscreen or wearing a hat. An umbrella will protect me, but gets in the way of others. I have family members and friends who are the same. It actually makes me ill, if the temperature is above say 26-28 degrees. I dont think its unreasonable for the club to provide some shade for fans. I dont care about getting rained on, but the sun and heat are an entirely different matter. I also attend VFL games, and AFLW games at Olympic Park. I am offering my support for these teams, so again I dont think its unreasonable to expect some amenity for spectators.

I have also in the past been prevented from using the toilets in the Glasshouse, because a function was on. I am a social club member but was still told to use public toilets across the road in the tennis centre. Not happy about that either.

All we want is come consideration of the fans.

does injury prevention and treatment come under the football department tax. If so then that's not very great imo

Who said anything about 3 experts! There may have been that many, but the club statement says 'an expert external opinion was sought'. One, singular. Three expert opinions I could handle, even respect.
There were actually 4 I've been reliably informed, one was a witch though so I don't know if that counts

The bom weather station was moved in recent times from the city to the south east corner of the site due to inference from buildings. I'd assume any shelter would have to be mindful of that and any grandstand mindful of the citylink tunnels, but I'm not aware of any other limitations.

Given it was an enclosed stadium for 50 odd years I find broader environmental factors odd especially given the vast amounts of other open space nearby.

Well said. For mine a lack amenities is passable if Olympic Park is solely used as a training venue with no official fan sessions, but it's not and as a public sporting venue the lack of shade simply isn't good enough especially when the dangers of uv exposure are known. Olympic Park would certainly fail these Cancer Council Victoria guidelines.
