I genuinely don’t dislike the bloke. Simmo playing him as fp was a joke that night.

That said when it came to a defender he was really solid. Unfortunately he was way to injury prone and played in an era were we blessed with talls. Reckon if he didn’t fo his ACL in 2015 he would have covered well for Emac but then again his injury opened the door for Gov

If its a free hit, we should absolutely get someone as a SSP, even if they never play a game. The MSD should be used to look at future needs rather than short term. There may be some undrafted kids who surpirise at how well they adapt to senior footy.
Agree with this on the proviso that Darling is done for the season (we don't know yet, and tbh I hope he isn't and doubt he will be).

But we shouldn't look at an attempt at a like for like tall. The reality is we just get another Dixon. There were surely some players around who we had some interest in last year but didn't and couldn't take. How have they returned for their respective preseasons? Have any grown or got fitter etc etc. Basically try to get in front of the MSD.

Will be a storm in a teacup though I think as Darling more likely a worst case 8-12 week injury so we will not open a spot.

Waterman is 191 cm’s and doesn’t have the tools to play like an undersized KPF like JD had been able to. Better off moving Gov forwards or putting Jamo or Jack Williams there
Clearly bailey Williams would be more proficient and experienced playing key forward than both jamo and Jack Williams at afl level .

Waterman comes in as 3rd tall . Bailey plays out of the goal square and Allen CHF .

When bailey is rucking put ryan as full forward

With syndesmosis it depends on the grading and other damage. One thing i can 100% guaranteee Darling will not be doing any ruckwork this year.

My syndesmosis was a grade 3 rupture with a broken tibia low down, rupturing of almost all major ligaments in the ankle and bone bruising and cartilage damage in the front of the ankle. This was June 10 last year. I still have a minimum 6 months recovery to go and that's just to get back to walking 10kms a day with the dog plus living my semi retired life.

Jamo’s been training there all preseason and it’s been noted he’s been impressive. Bailey Is a terrible set shot and his follow up work is so meh.

Think Gov should be considered before everyone else tbh.

Also rotham looks semi decent as foreard againts the Saints last hear.

He's 193cm these days
Perhaps. That said he just doesn’t have the strengths to play that height. He isn’t physically imposing, nor does have the speed, agility of leap to do so. Jack has the strength, straight line speed, agility againts taller opponents. Only thing in Jakes arsenal is his endurance

Waterman has shown clearly enough to have a spot.

Whether he can handle 2kpf remains to be seen.

But I trust a potential out of position Waterman over others

He needs to get jacked. If he really wants to be the next G train then put on an extra 10kg and start ragdolling defenders. Its the only way I think he'll make it I think.

Old retiree campaigner with a broken leg + popped ligaments =/= Darling with a sprained ankle and ninja healing capacity.

Alright ****wit.

34 year old nephew, grade 1/2 syndesmosis partial tear. No complications. Firefighter from the calendar. Injury 5 months ago. Was given 8 weeks rest in a moonboot. Didn't heal and had private surgery. 12 Weeks since surgery, at a push hard but not explosive running and has done 8 weeks of physical therapy mainly based around reformer pilates, bodyweight exercises, stretching and 4 sessions in the pool a week. Love of his life is surfing, 12 weeks since surgery and he can't get up on a board.

Played for peel, worked out he wasn't good enough for AFL but country footy plus a job paid more so went down that path.

Now if jack has just blown out even some serious ankle ligaments he will be back in 6-8 weeks but he won't be at 100%. If he's only done some minor ligament damage he'll be back running mostly on an alter-g machine within 2 weeks but still 4-5 weeks away. Unlike you i've seen the footage, this is likely the best case scenario.

Oh and just tell me when he does come back tell me how much of that straight line speed he's going to have before he can get fully match fit when his ankle is strapped hard and he won't get the push off from that ankle. Or tell me how good his lateral strength and agility is going to be straight away.

Even if it a low grade tear and ligament only, he's at the very least lost any and all gains made through the preseason and lost a significant amount of lateral strength.

So go on, tell this fully self funded retiree campaigner he doesn't know what he's talking about again.

My experience with tendon and related surgury (on me not by me) is that the recovery is very long 6 months would be a gift. 12 more likely.

Who da f**k is this guy.

My expert opinion and I've got sound knowledge on all things ankles.
Ive also seen the footage and believe Darling should be back running in two weeks. Rumour is that Darling has a thing called instant pain syndrome hense the screaming but once it calmed down Darling heals pretty quick. After talking to a few around the club Darling often screams in pain with injuries. One club official I spoke to said he stubbed his pinky toe and the scream from that was deafening. They were about it call an ambulance until the realised hang on it's just a pinky toe and not that bad.

So your advocating for jamo to cover the 2nd ruck also over bailey Williams?

Or just jamo perm forward ?

Sheed did the same injury as darling in preseason last year he came back mid season then injured himself because he was underdone .
