I agree totally, but, where I'm coming from, if he's not on the list, an opportunity has to go to a kid.
If he's on the list, even if purely for good depth, the one error I think we have made over the last few years is giving opportunity to kids over tried and proven depth players.

Last year, well on the second half of last year, we slightly changed that approach and a couple of kids flourished.

My concern if we pick Narkle, we slip back to old habit of picking Narkle over a kid, then the kid can't flourish
Which kid? We don't have many genuine inside mids. Steely nowhere near ready, Dow? I don't see it. Sonsie will get a go before him for sure. Jack Ross is the only other young potential inside mid although Dimma doesn't seem to want to ever play him there. Worst case Narkle and Ross push each other and compete to be first in line for a call up if Cotchin, Prestia, Taranto or Hopper get injured. Can see Ross leaving for more opportunity next year with or without Narkle on the list.

In saying that I'm not convinced we will take Narkle yet.

Good point mate, that can be the issue re these mature depth guys if they are getting games ahead of kids who may perform at a slightly lower level but be better long term and the best way to develop a player is give them times in the 1s when they are ready

Just got to have faith in the list management team to evaluate the potential upside of a Narkle type vs the long term development of our kids who might be ready to play a similar role in the side

But in saying all of that if a kid is good enough and we still have Narkle we shouldn’t be playing favourites and we just play our best 22 every week and competition for spots is never a bad thing

Is that Dow? Looking in ripping nick
**** he’s looking like he’s put the effort in over the pre season
How good would it be to see him just come from the clouds and entrench himself in the 22

I hope this kid makes it. Few went past him last year and now that we have Taranto and Hopper, he will have a tough time getting time in the 1's.
Personally i think he's too much on the light side and unfortunately these days you usually need a big frame to play in midfield. I can see him being traded at the end of the year perhaps unless the injuries hit us early again.

I'd like to think Dow is close too.
Much rather have Graham, Ross, Dow anyone getting games ahead of a player like Narkle. Pickett to mid/tagger and Hugo types on his wing. I know Narkle can play and if he is picked up by us fine. Selectors know what they are looking for.

I'd take giving Dow an opportunity over Narkle, we have to find out one way or another.

And it might not have to be direct competition, Cotch, Dusty or Shai may spend a bit more time mid and Juddy gets a game up forward.

Theres plenty of options to give kids a go before recycled players
