Just saying St Kilda medical history isn’t great. Sam Gilbert broke his foot in the preseason. I thought he would be gone for a half season. They brought him back within a 8 week period. He played a few games then broke down again. And had another 6 week stint on the sidelines.

What on earth does medical history from 2014 have to do with anything at all?
Its like saying that based on history Japan doesn't like America because they bombed pearl harbour in 1941.

It would seem as if the deck is already stacked against us with injury’s to key players. Given that what’s a pass, what are our realistic expectations ?.

I’m also amazed how many posters have Windhager as a lock in our best team, why ?. Being really fit isn’t worth much if you can’t play. I’m not sure what he is or where he plays, I know he can tag but other than that I’m struggling to place him.

He takes too long like Membrey to move the ball on and just seems the odd man out to me, his brother is super fit and cut as well and plays for dingley.

He gets more of the ball than ( for example ) Zac Jones, often winning it himself. He gets clearances.
Not sure why you think he can't play.

wouldn't that have been with different doctors, trainers, rehab people. the club mustve learnt somethingover the years about not bringing players back too early

Think you’re underrating Windy. Have to remember he’s not got a clear run at it. Think his ceiling is Steele, worst case a solid B grader.
Could be better than Steele if he gets a clear run tbh. I liken him to Jai Newcombe even though it might be a bit ambitious - think his work ethic will take him a long way

The more I consider our position, the more i think 2026 will be the year the De Koning boys (conveniently both OOC) will return home to their southern roots and get to play together. It will only cost us our FRDP for Sam, given any potential big $$$$ FA offer for Tom that Carlton couldnt match. I think thats the best off season play we can make that won't cost us our future, in a potentially dry 2025 draft. We likely loaded up with kids this season with an understanding the next draft/ trade period might be a different approach. Tom was seen with Gubby in a players box last year, and Tom cryptically said 'not whilst he is at Geelong' in an interview in December when discussing the potential for him to unite with Sam. Tom has 3 carlton teammates at StKilda and former schoolmate Hunter Clark to make him feel at home. It seems an easy sell. We will see in 9 months i suppose.

I mean if we can get both De Konings + LDU/Brayshaw/Callaghan + Aleer and keep Nas then we're pretty farking set for the next 5-10 years

All just a pipe dream though, we'll probably get no one :(

Just gives me gop player vibes, needs a role.

That’s how I saw Steele in his first couple of seasons. If he didn’t have tagging roles he ran to all the wrong spots.
