Might have been part of the advice they got over there to help his groin/abdominal/OP/whatever issues

He was definitely much "bigger" more solid in 2024 than in 2023. So maybe the extra size aggravated something that was easier to manage previously?

Or maybe the entire thing is in my imagination
Not sure he’d have been able to shed that much in the week since he was assessed over there!

He was only in Dubai a few weeks ago. This kind of change is something that takes place over months.
Dysentry can really accelerate weight loss. Pretty clear that dodgy curries are part of the Doha clinic's methodology.

Training - Monday November 25th.
Cool, drizzly and 17°.

We arrived at Olympic Park this morning at 9:45. It was a cool & grey with constant drizzle. Unfortunately for us and the 10 or so others in attendance, training was to begin at 12:45. Would it be so hard for somebody in our enormous media department to post training times? Jen said she got a text regarding the time as she was on the train. It really shouldn't be so difficult to help out the fans who wish to attend.

Today was a day when it would have been great to be able to go into the Eatery, remember that? Unfortunately, the cafe no longer exists for supporters. As the AIA Centre gets bigger every year, the facilities for supporters shrink. There is no access to the cafe now, because the club has turned it into the players' cafe. This means there is no longer any access to toilets. The nearest conveniences are over beyond Margaret Court Arena in the Tennis Centre. I think this reflects very poorly on Collingwood.

Anyway, we walked into the city and had an early lunch at Brunetti's before heading back for training.

Training began with hill running at the Yarra end and then some sprint work. Prominent in the sprints were DeMatia and Nick.

Haircuts for Vicky:
I thought Nick's new haircut was very short until I spotted Jamie's 0 buzz. He wore no cap so his white head really stood out.
Moore is now sporting a shorter look too. It's certainly an improvement.

Mitchell continues to impress in the drills. He's certainly returned in very good condition.
Nick slotted straight back as if he hadn't had a lay-off.
Crisp also look to be in terrific nick. I know why everyone talks about Houston's kicking - he was fantastic by foot today.

I kept a close eye on Charlie West. He trained in the same group as Dan McStay for a time. He has size and will be a very big unit in a season or two. Dunno if he can make it, but if agility and beautiful movement count for anything, he has a chance.

Towards the end of training, Fly stationed himself on the clubhouse side with Wade. They were keeping a very close eye on Charlie West. At the end of a defensive drill when Charlie was in the offensive group, Fly called Charlie in and told him, "Don't let them (the defenders) get away with that". I guess he was talking about being evaded to easily.

Soon after, Ed Allen was called in and given a ground ball positioning tip from Fly. I watched Allan I lot. I think he has heaps of upside. He's very quick, agile and today I liked his skills on both sides in somewaht slippery conditions.

After about 90 minutes the players wandered off and the waiting meida pack interviewed Pendles. He got the predictable Dad's Army question, which he answered well. It'll probably be posted on-line, but he said something like the most recent premiership teams have all had great experience in their ranks.

There are a few people here in BigFooty suggesting Sidey will struggle this year. I'm not sure why really. Every player comes to the end sooner or later, but Sidey has survived this long because of his amazing footy IQ, endurance and elite skills. He's never been lightning quick or injury-prone, so any slowing up over the summer would be minimal. I thought his performances in big games this year were telling.

The next training session will be tomorrow and I'm told it will be at 9am. I hope the frustrated bike rider I spoke to today reads this. He told me he'd ridden in 3 times in recent weeks to find an empty stadium. He wondered why the club wasn't more helpful in this regard. Hear, hear!

I forgot to mention the 15 minute mindfulness drill with the club psych. This happened in the middle of the ground. The players all appeared to be in a trance with hands on their diaphragms, monitoring their breathing. I wouldn't have been surprised to hear a Thai Buddha chant to be honest!
