My personal guess/speculation is that Membrey is definitely playing and that we have Cameron playing solo in the ruck but will mostly float around the middle part of the ground.

Frampton or Moore to take back half ruck contests and McStay to take front half contests with Cameron floating back or forward as he's able with brief stints on the bench where maybe we pull a Richmond and just have a tall mid or whatever taking literally a centre bounce or two for the game?

I just don't see a scenario where we brought Membrey in as depth. I could be wrong of course but I just don't see it
I think we'll continue with 2 rucks.

I think we'll go small in defence and will want to have Cox/Cameron stiffening our aerial game behind the ball as well as being stronger in the ruck and more of an aerial threat up forward - due to McStay being there all game and a ruck there for some of it. Plus being more dangerous at forward 50 stoppage.

You'd still give McStay some ruck contests at training as a common tactical sub move will be a ruck out half way through the 3rd quarter with McStay needing to do a stint there in the last.

But our talls tend to get injuries so I think Membrey is going to be a part of the mix a lot, even if not a walk up start.

What's this thing about Nick on channel 7. I bet it's a big nothing burger to make Pies fans panic.

Prob the fact he was running looked like rehab. But did some drills some I reckon it’s load management given tomorrows big session

The lack of match fitness is what causes soft tissue injuries a lot of the time…

Pretty common for guys with poor preseasons to have injury issues throughout the year… like jordy last year…

Yep, spot on. Checkers was another.

Explains why he wasn’t training. Prob just a check up given he has had issues.

Mitchell. DeGoey. Jaicos. Not exactly the ideal start to the pre-season of the year that we’re seemingly going all-in for one last Flag campaign with our aging list.

Cameron plays really well in the backline dropping into the hole to take interceptions marks. If he wasn’t such a good utility ruck he’d have made a fine key defender.

Many underestimate the significance and contribution of Cox. He troubles oppositions all over the ground and needs double teaming be it up forward or as the link on the wing.
We certainly missed him when he was out last year.

Don’t write off Coxy.

Contrastingly we were lacking tall forward depth hugely when Checkers and McStay were out. It’s entirely conceivable and sensible that a budget back up was brought in. And I am sure we’ll use Members as back up and to be able to spell checkers so he doesn’t have to play banged up. We’ll try several different set ups forward.
Doesn’t necessarily mean we’re dropping Cox. Although I’m sure that will be trialled.

Agree. We are better with Mason in the side.

Good post.

If all of Mihocek, McStay, Elliott, Membrey, Cameron and Cox are fit it'll be a great problem. I hope we have a selection dilemma all year, but I doubt it.
