True Bloods organising drinks at Union HouseAny meet up plans for pre-game tomorrow?
We were on the outside table , near the Marquee , spewing we missed out but 4 of us had met before . We saw Bevo as well , you must've been close to usI made it to the Riser at 1 pm on the 27th. Only we had a bit of a 'mare walking there from the G with my tween-aged son driving us (mostly me) mental and so we were exhausted and grumpy when we arrived. The place was packed with Swans fans. There were no tables available and I didn't have access to BF for the week while I was in Melbourne (I can't get it on my phone, even with the app) so I couldn't recognise anyone and didn't feel sociable any more anyway. Spotted Bevo (as in Luke Beveridge) and a couple of mates sitting at an outside table right on the street corner and I thought "That's odd. Why would an oppo coach go to the Swans pub the day before we play in the GF?" Anyway, due to aforementioned factors bailed out - my apologies for that. We limped on to get a great, calorific burger at Andrew's Hamburgers (thanks bedford for that recommendation). Then decided to quit while I was behind and recharge for the Big Day.
After the GF, I stayed for the presentations etc and then left. Wound up walking north and found a gelateria to try a bit of self-soothing. It had the weirdest flavours I have ever encountered. I wasn't game to order the weirdest ones on this occasion but they included Pineapple, Chilli, Salt, Vinegar & Cocunut Sorbet, Kalamata, White Chocolate & Vegemite, and - this one takes the biscuit for me - Broccoli & Crushed Whole Eggs! Place is called Fluffy Torpedo on Smith St, Fitzroy.
Thereafter I avoided all media and, as much as possible, tried not to think about the whole debacle until I returned to Sydney on Thursday.
