No you cant have Seaby
he has just signed a new deal anyway

The people that are considering a trade for John Meesen have obviously never seen him play. He is below average at SANFL level and hasnt shown anything whatsoever in the time he has been here. He is simply a 1st round pick in a past draft, if he was taken at 60 his name would never be mentioned again.
spot on!!!:thumbsu:

You don't know enough about Gia to know whether he can give you what you need but you know he's worth less than Hille?

I think Merv is saying we don't know enough about him in a midfield role that will suit us as he's never played that way. You'd have to ask yourself whether he's up to it seeing the Doggies have no ball winners and Gia was not even given a shot at it.

He's a HFF come midfielder but we need a ball winner with a bit of grunt and class and Gia is certainly not that player.

Hille would be worth more than Gia in a trade.

I thought it was pretty straight forward, as the other guys have summed up
While i think Gia is handy, we have not seen enough of him in a midfield role to know if he can give us what we need there.
I doubt he is a real ball winner and we need someone to help with our stoppages.

You don't know, and neither do we if he can be a real ball winner in the midfield as he hasn't really played there.

Hille on the other hand, we know exactly what he can do and can't do as he has played as a ruckman and forward.

Pretty simple really.

Also supply and demand plays a part in a players worth.
There are a LOT of clubs that need ruckman atm, it's a sellers market

Hille is worth a lot more than Gia.

Having said that Gia does have one thing that we do need and that is good disposal by foot and we really do need more of that.

I doubt the dogs have a player they would be willing to swap that we would actually need.

All fair comments. Yes the ruck stocks are more valuable than midfielders although sometimes it becomes a battle of clubs on the final day (hour) of trade week and have to make a choice. Is it better to get someone you may need than miss out all together if the player in question to trade wants out?
Anyway I guess there's no answer coming from all of that so let's talk about the higher profile guys who are seriously looking like moving on, ie from last year Akermanis, Polak, etc...

i think essendon should make a play for brent prismall. Good inside midfielder but cant crack it with us in our midfield (bartel corey ablett kelly selwood ling enright) are all in front of him.
what would you give up for him?
2nd rounder??
or id love monfries.....;)

Not Monfries, he has picked it up when moved into the midfield so I don't think many would want to trade him. 2nd rounder is a distinct possibility IMO, especially if we could get a second rounder by trading out someone. Although if we don't have a coach in trade week I'd be surprised if we gave up too much. Just as a matter of interest, if Bomber Thompson becomes Essendon coach, does anyone think that would affect Prismall wanting/not wanting to go to Essendon?

I'd give up a 2nd rounder for him. I guess that would mean we'd probably draft Rance with our first pick then.

Prismall BOG in vfl prelim final not going anywhere unless wants to. Then its a mid-first round pick

HAHAHAHHAHAHAHHAHAHHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHHAHAHAHHAHAHAHHAHAHAHHAHAHAH

No.

Mid-first rounder equals pick 10ish. There is no way in the world a player who cant make the first 22 of a side is worth pick 10. No way.

You evidently don't rate your No.2 pick Scott Gumbleton......tool

You're right! Gumby is in his first year is a KPP and was in our best 22 but you're logic is so sound.

Do you think he is worth a top 10 pick? Because I highly doubt he'd get one.

As far as him being in the top 5 midfielders at our club, he could very well be but then again so is Peverill, can we get pick 10 for Peverill?

There is no way Geelong will get a first round pick for him.

He was pick 32 and has struggled to break into your best 22, albeit your best 22 is very good of course.

Early second round at best imo.

Are you trying to be sarcastic. I can't tell. You act condescending with your 50 hahaha's and then make a ridiculous statement. I called you on it. So yeah I am right.

I don't think he is worth a top 10 pick but I think he could get something around 16-24.

He is a Pendlebury type that I think will be a very good player in the future.

difference between peverill and prissa is that prissa is only 20 and is a fantastic talent that will be in the top five midfielders at our club in a couple of years. He is like hodge the way he sets up play with his kicking

KPP take at least 3 years to start cementing spots you've only got to look at Franklin barely played last year!

Did you read what he wrote?

"There is no way in the world a player who cant make the first 22 of a side is worth pick 10. No way."

I understand it takes KP's longer. Never the less his statement was completely wrong.

geelong may not have the choice of keeping prismall. if he wants to leave because of a lack of opportunities you will have to trade him. i can't see a bloke who is as talented as prismall, wanting to remain as a backup option.

who in geelong's best 22 who plays a similar position to prismall won't be there in 5 years????????? the answer is nobody

Agreed, surely Tim Callan would be ahead of him for a spot in the Geelong team as well. Wrong place at the wrong time is Prismall.

exactly, meaning that if prismall is a realist he may realize he needs to be traded if he wants to cement himself as a afl footballer.

Even if he made it into geelong's side next year he would have to be performing week in-week out to remain in the seniors

What would Hawthorn give for Andrew Lovett?

He's an established player who's pretty young, and my impression watching Hawthorn the last two weeks is you lack a player who has blinding pace. I think Essendon could afford to lose him, as we have Winderlich, Jetta, Dempsey & Davey to play that kind of role.
