Preliminary Final #1: Hawthorn v Adelaide - Pre-Match

Don't shatter their little world, Roswell. The big bad turncoat, Jack Gunston, is a horrible man, and the players hate him. Hate him, I tells ya!

The players will not worry about such things. That's fair enough, why would they. Personally I couldn't give a rats about Guntson. We still owe Hawthorn for Darren Jarman, you can have Gunston, he's not that good.

Maybe this thread should be locked till the teams are in given that it is overrun now with battlers? Might save us two more days of relentless trolling about Ricciuto needing tissues, Hodge being a ****, Hawthorn whoring themselves to Tasmania.

By all accounts we should win easily (25 points or more) but finals dish up some strange stuff and I am therefore predicting the crows to win ......

....... a dejected flight back to Adelaide. Hawks by 60+ and I can not wait to speak to some of my Adelaide bandwagon mates on Sunday morning.

Likewise Cap. The trollfest in here is ridiculous. Like schoolchildren "Mine's the best, no mine is, well-you suck, no you suck"

That's what this thread reads like.

On topic, the Key areas for me are:
Kicking Efficiency - Teams that have lots of shots at goal and miss inevitably get burned. HAVE to take opportunities.
Contested Marking - If Adelaide can get on top in the F50 with contested marks, they'll go a long way to winning this game
Key Matchups - Buddy, Gunston, Breust, Sewell. Walker, Dangerfield, Tippet, Reilly

I would expect Adelaide to come out hard and try and pressure the ball carrier as much as possible. Hawthorns counter to this the last few weeks has simply been to try and move the ball forward by any means possible. Which seems to have escaped the notice of a lot of people. Precision kicking in the Defensive 50 then any old way forward and rely on the Mids to get the clearance.

Would expect some of the Adelaide defenders to get in Gunston's face too.

The biggest danger for Adelaide, is that Hawthorn have had a habit of banging clusters of goals together very quickly.

I expect a close game most of the night. With one side (Hopefully Hawthorn) breaking it open in a ten minute period by kicking 4 goals quickly.

There is one other way: Adelaide should instruct Tippet to come out and flatten Hodge. Tippet won't be with Adelaide next year anyway, so any subsequent suspension would not be missed, even in the unlikely event that Adelaide makes the GF. (I don't think they will).

I'm expecting Hodge to have the game of his life if he doesn't get flattened.

Adelaide has been pretty awful at conceding coast to coast goals. When the opposing team figures out a way to get the first or second ball over the 50 arc and defensive wall fast and accurately, we concede heavily, even Gold Coast and the Demons were able to get a lot of goals this way. If we kick poorly at goal, a team with high kicking efficiency like Hawthorn is going to cut us up on the kick outs.

Tippet currently doesn't look in good enough form to even do that

He would end up concussing himself.

This is the danger for us. I can't see how we can contain the Hawks for 4 quarters without at least a couple of goal floods, just too good a team.
A lot would have to go right for us to win this one, but I live in hope.

Have to laugh at Adelaide supporters trying to rationalise why they hate Gunston. They hate him because he left. Fair enough. If it was exactly the same circumstances but vice versa they wouldn't hate him. Same thing as Dees fans hating Scully but loving Clark

And the same way Hawks supporters would feel in exactly the same situation. The hatred is not because he left, it is because of the gutless manner in which he did it. Seriously brings his character into question. That said, it's done and dusted and we'll get on with it. Karma will bite his skinny arse one day.

Gee, I hope Hawthorn give us this same lack of respect next week because we'll spank them if they do.

Yeah...because what people say on here has a big influence on how the game is actually player...

10 goals up at half time and cruise to an 8 - 10 goal win
