I find that a bit hard to believe

I’m disappointed, any team’s fans are when they lose, but I’m not going to tear my hair out over it. We were never expected to get this far, we gave it a great crack, and were beaten by a better side, and dozens of neutrals seem to be celebrating like their own teams have just won a flag

Joey D also from memory hasn’t put together a particularly good body of work against us as a forward in the past so I don’t think moving him out of there was necessarily the worst thing that could happen from a Lions perspective, he did a good job going with Stanley. It was gutsy as all hell from Oscar - I nearly spat my beer out when he came back on after seeing how distressed he was when he left the field, it was one of the braver things I’ve seen in recent years, but definitely the right call to get him out of there when they did and as a few people have pointed out, it’s enhanced Joe’s standing as a guy who is putting his best foot forward in finals matches regardless of what role he plays

Scott must think that if he pre-empts ensuring the excuses are made known with the statement 'don't take these as excuses, BUT....' that people won't catch on that they are excuses.

Has got form the big sook.
A journalist asked the question and he answered. Not sure what you want him to do different.

Journo:- "Are there any excuses for losing
tonight? Covid?"

Scott in an alternate universe:- "Look, all credit to Brisbane as they were the better side. Both sides had injuries and I'm not going to be drawn into peripheral what ifs as Geelong has more integrity than that. We said prior to the game our Covid affected staff would be covered and Brisbane deserved the win.

the journalist asked him about the health reports during the week coming out that we were dealing with a few players with gastro. He confirmed it was true and they trained away from the main group.

This doesn’t take a high IQ to grasp

Yawn.

Just watched the replay, what an epic game!

The 'worst midfield' in the league weren't too shabby

As the last final, the younger brigade impressed with their growth.

Defence - Cats - Humphries, Mullins
Lions - Payne, Starcevich, Wilmot

Mid - Cats - Bruhn, Holmes
Lions - Ashcroft, Fletcher, Rayner

Fwd - Cats - Dempsey, Henry, Neale
Lions - Lohmann, Morris

Geelong have the home ground advantage and the crowd.

While brisbane just played there grand final against the giants, and have to travel a second time.

Cats by 40.
Geez the Bris nuffies are coming out thick and fast.

Really looking forward to flogging the Lions in yet another prelim.
The Lions haven't beaten Geelong in Victoria since the Preliminary Final in 2004, not that it makes much difference this week, but it's an interesting stat. I don't think the drought will be broken. Cats by 50 points.

The better side won.

We has a crack but had one of those games where our weaknesses were exposed and our strengths blunted just enough for Brisbane to land the killer blows.

Congrats to the Lions. Go well in the grand final - continuing to knock on the door while improving deserves serious credit.

For the Cats - thereabouts but never felt like a premiership team. Similar to a number of years under Scott. Our bottom 5 were comfortably worse than Brisbane's and their clutch players almost all delivered.
Backhanded compliment here. "Never felt like a premiership team.' You were four goals up and blew it. Face the facts.

Was I? Because I thought I was a guy watching a bunch of blokes kicking a ball around.

As my original post said, the better side won. Geelong had quarters or halves where they were obliterated throughout the season. That wasnt just going to magically disappear in finals.

The death knell rang when a weak midfield lost its stand out player (Holmes). Brisbane's small forwards also stood up more than Geelong's as the game progressed. The end.
