Tom Boyd panned across the board for being an overpaid spud, plays his career best game in an upset GF win. That is truly delicious.

Well done guys, I feel privileged to have watched your team produce the greatest finals run I've ever seen.

And although I'm sure none of you really GAF (specially not now) but don't ever let people get you down when they try and discredit this team because of the bye or umpires or whatever the **** else. 4 legendary team performances and a new standard for defensive pressure (imo) sees the Dogs as more than deserving winners. I have a feeling it's going to take me years to process everything I saw in this last month it's been that stunning.

Anyway GG and be sure to give your livers the odd respite in the ensuing weeks.

I am happy. I am with happiness.

So proud of this team and a huge thank you to them for giving me, and all other supporters, this wonderful gift to treasure. The courage and resolve of this group amazes me and i was so lucky to be here to witness it. This september (and October 1) has been an amazing ride and a privilege to witness.

I was talking to master Walker about how this team compares on talent to other Bulldogs teams we have witnessed particularly 2006 to 2008 but the fact is this group has won the flag and will be gods in Bulldogs folklore.

congratulations Dogs and Luke is the messiah!

Well done Doggies.
You guys give a long suffering Tigers fan some hope.

Just on a side note. What was in the boxes that the players had last night on stage?
Watches with ingraved names etc

You bloody bewdy.

This has replaced the 1989 'save the dogs' rallies as my new favourite Bulldog memory. An absolute dream come true.

Just sad my Dad passed away earlier this year so is not hear to share the moment.
He was there mate, I get what you are saying though.

Condolences for your loss <3

Sorry to hear mate, its never easy to have loved ones lost not here to celebrate the holy grail. (By chance his name wasn't Mark was it?)

only up to page 17, so i've got some reading to do but just gotta express my joy.

WE ARE THE PREMIERS!! We're the best team in the comp! No one can dispute that for 6 months! I get to spend all of summer watching replays of wins not because i wanna get excited about our future, but because I wanna enjoy what no one can take away from any of us. The most amazing season of footy i'll ever live.

Thank you dogs, and thank you bigfooty crew, even the idiots, because someone's gotta eat s**t when everything comes up bulldogs :)

now onto the game (before i've seen the replay):

Boyd of the Tom variety was marvellous. Remember when we were bold and paid out the ass for a big guy to win us games in september? yeh that just paid off. He's quite irresistible with his combo of size, skill, footy smarts and a seemingly improved motor. Guy just keeps going. Young bigs don't normally impact games for as long as he did in this GF. On a day Grundy looked good, he certainly looked less comfy with big Tom on him. A premiership Ruck/FF.

Hamling you f***ing genius. Haha! It is now official that he is a GOOD kpd in the AFL. Because you don't have the month he's had if you're not. He's so good at getting a fist to the ball which Buddy absolutely hates. Moves well, overall a decent ball user. A premiership CHB

Bont actually had an epic game. Did a whole heap of really good work with ball in hand, certainly wasn't overawed by the occasion. Probably an underrated game tbh. All Australian, premiership midfielder.

Picken is a star of the AFL now. What the?! I mean i've always liked him, but gee he came up big. That bloody sealer is etched in my brain forever, and i'll smile every time i see a still frame of him sitting on heads with the ball stuck to his palms- even though he'd already started coming down. A premiership player, and probably Gary Ayres medalist.

Libba imposed his will on things. When it became apparent we needed to do something about Kennedy, another thing was apparent was our clearance king had to come to the fore. He did. Wrenched it out a few times. Just so happy that this son of scray is a premiership player.

Boyd and Moz. When you have a defence that switches everything to stifle ball movement, and teams are therefore required to kick to one on ones, it's rather fortunate that the defenders in such situations are these guys and Wood. So crafty the both of them. Moz is so damn good at closing out space and his tackle on the big colossus to get our colossus going is a fitting moment to define his career. For Boyd, no one leaps out at me more from this list of bulldogs that deserves a flag. He's been there for the craziest of journeys and if it ends here, just know i appreciate you Matty. Haha. When the swans realised they had to start going up the guts a ball got out the back at one point and Boyd did one of his old classics. He read where the ball was going, snuffed out the play, intercepted it and got the ball forward again. I love you Matt. These guys are all australian premiership defenders.

Zaine Cordy grew into the finals series rather sneakily. I nearly spewed up after he burnt Hunter, but from his goal onward, i had no issues with his game. There were several moments actually where i thought "good Zaine! good Zaine!" just a fighter. And a bargain. A true contributor on this team and a son of the scray. A premiership centre half forward.

Fletchy Fletch makes me feel so proud. When all you geese were whinging about and exacerbating his first final last year, i was saying, nah he's alright. Well yeh, he's an unlikely hero, but he truly is alright. His season has been decent, he's just the guy that makes the error that the fans remember. But he reads the play well, kicks the ball wall and protects the air well. A premiership full back.

Wood took on the captaincy SO much better than i thought. He understood the size of the task he took on. He understood that it's not just playing footy. This best manifests itself in his almost furious singing of the team song each win. He stares at his boys and says "SING MOTHERF***ERS". Amidst all of the cultish love (and don't worry i shed a tear too) for Bob, it's fun to look at Woody and realise that we've got another heartbeat pumping forever harder in front of our eyes. Bob was a legend, so we all wanted to celebrate him, but yesterday Wood became a legend too, and he will live his entire life as a premiership captain (and an all australian).

Hunter, Mclean and Daniel. In 2015 Hunter missed a handball to jag us our first finals win. Well this year he saved good skills for the finals. He got the job done and hit his targets. In 2015 Mclean was out with injury. This year he was in for an injury. He ran all day and used the ball exquisitely throughout the finals. His goal over the shoulder in the second was extremely important. I don't care too much bout the ducking, but i don't want it to affect his game, players can become too reliant on little tricks and he's better than that. In 2015 Caleb only played well as the sub or in fourth quarters. Now he's one of the best wings in the game. He wasn't huge yesterday but he launched us into this finals series with unrivalled cleanliness and gorgeous kicking. These guys are premiership wingmen.

Dahl was brilliant in games 1 and 3 of our 4 game finals series. He wasn't shit in the other two. He's a genuine key to our midfield. He's a maniac and one of the most underrated players in the game. Like many of our pups he fought through pain and uncertainty this year to help us lift this cup. A premiership midfielder.

Stringer probably only played well in one game this finals series. But you know what. He let every single one of us know it wasn't through lack of effort. He tried his arse off yesterday and in tight games a bloke who can kick a goal out of a paper bag goes alright. When he flew for Yablett special straight after his goal i thought we might see the man for the moment, but we had another man for that, and Jake's gonna get another moment. An all australian and a premiership forward.

Biggsy was typically solid. The guy is always solid haha. I do remember an unbelievable effort on the half forward line from him where he smothered two straight swan touches, willed the ball deep with a tackle and it eventually worked its way back round to Picken who ballooned it through. I really like this guy, springy defender, not easily beaten and supports JJ. A premiership small defender.

Macrae had a damn good game. Clean, excellent ball use and used his length in close to disrupt Sydney's handball chains. A premiership midfielder

Rough deserves a lot of credit for this flag. He and Boyd were a partnership through and through in these finals, and it's easy to forget that Rough was awesome in the first two. Yesterday i thought Boyd was the better ruck but being able to put Rough behind the ball in the fourth helped us get one hand on the cup. His aerial defence and marking became brilliant this year. A premiership ruckman

Dickson had a damn good finals series. He recovered SO well from the yips game against Hawthorn to get us some really important majors in the next two games. Yesterday he jagged our second from 50. Overall was well kept by a great small defender in Smith but he still snagged 3 after a week where he took down the key to GWS' team. A premiership small forward.

JJ is what a lot of people will see as the difference between the two sides. Had a clean set of heals when it mattered in our season. Butchered it at times in my view but definitely showed brilliance. It's not all offensive either. He's great defensively up the ground and deep. He gets big on opponents with his long arms, good leap and Brendan McCartney education. A norm smith medallist and premiership small defender.

Dunkley was not prolific nor was he absent. Worked his butt off trying to shoulder a load he used to share with Jong. Helped us massively in this finals series, particularly in the first two finals. Really exciting talent to have on our list this 189cm premiership mid/forward.

Clay the fairytale guy. Probably our second best finals player. Can only really remember him jagging his goal yesterday. Tough set of blokes to tussle with when he went in the middle, but having a weightlifter like Clay in this finals series has elevated us from our late regular season form. His ability to snag a goal is just a massive bonus. The worst is over for this man. He's brave. He's a Clay brick. He's a premiership mid/forward.

Just heard libba forgot his boots before the game and had to go home and get them. Surely not? How laid back can you get.

Yep...

IT was a close shave, but Tom Liberatore has an Uber and a good mate to thank today.

Teammate Luke Dahlhaus has revealed how close his fellow premiership Bulldog and friend came to taking to the MCG on Saturday without his trusty boots, with the ride-sharing service called upon to make a quick dash back to Brunswick West — about a $38 ride each way on a good day — retrieve the boots from under his bed and be back at the ground in time for the bounce.

“It was unbelievable,” Dahlhaus said.

SPIRITUAL HEARTBEAT: THIS IS OUR WOODSTOCK: MURPHY

ACHILLES INJURY: I WAS NEVER A CHANCE: SUCKLING

DALE MORRIS: ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE FOR YOUNG DOGS

“His mate had to go all the way back home in an Uber and then drove them back in. It was ridiculous. Insane.”

Saturday’s result proved a turn in fortune for Liberatore, who also had his car towed during the week.

Dahlhaus, 24, led the masses in a rousing rendition of “Sons of the West” at Whitten Oval on Sunday - a chorus of more than 20,000 joining in quickly after his traditional introduction.

It was when Tom Boyd booted a goal at the 21-minute mark of the final term to take the Dogs to a 15-point lead, Dahlhaus said he felt slightly more “comfortable”.

But when Toby McLean was taken high and earned a free kick some 15 metres from goal with 35 seconds on the clock, the Geelong product had none other than Liberatore sidle up and whisper in his ear.

That was when he knew.

“Libba came up and stood next to me and said ‘Oi, the siren’s going to go and I’m going to hug you’,” Dahlhaus said.

“He knew there was 20 seconds to go or something like that, so that just shows how such good mates we are and he wanted to share that moment with me.

“I saw a video of it and it nearly brought me to tears. To spend that with him, someone that I got drafted with was amazing.”

Tom Liberatore and Luke Dahlhaus celebrate on the final siren.
He, like many, admitted that the win was yet to fully sink in.

It took some time post-game, too, to realise what the group had achieved.

Enter mum Lori and dad Mark.

“The first time I saw the emotions come out was when I saw mum and dad in the rooms,” the midfielder said.

“Before that, I was sort of normal and it was another win, but as soon as I saw them, I started bawling and I never cry. That was the best feeling ever.”

Sunday’s scenes at Whitten Oval were unprecedented, and reminded Dahlhaus of how Geelong rallied as a city when it broke its 44-year premiership drought in 2007.

“It’s got that community feel about it,” he said.

“That’s what I love about the club. It’s such a great club and I’m so happy to be a part of it.”

Sensational effort, the best I've seen in 35 years watching of watching VFL/AFL football. To win 4 knockout finals in a row, travelling interstate twice, beating both of the previous years grand finalists, to back up from an epic and gruelling prelim (which I know from bitter experience is hard to do) to defeat a quality and determined side in another epic and gruelling clash is just unbelievable.

I didn't think you could do it before the finals began but after watching you smash West Coast at their fortress I thought, I wouldn't fancy playing these blokes if I was any of the other finalists.

My Uncle, cousin and some close family friends are mad Bulldogs supporters and I've always admired the club and it's supporters who are some of the best people going around I find as a rule, so for me this past month has been brilliant. I can only imagine how good it's been for you mob.

Congratulations Bulldogs fans, savour it, cherish it and celebrate it. The bastards are hard enough to win as well you know and breaking a 62 year drought needs an appropriately massive celebration to recognise that.

Now that this awesome team has completed the holy grail I can die happy and my input by staying positive to match my username, my contribution to bulldogs to bigfooty is complete. So to the bulldogs bigfooty community it has been nice knowing you.

Hold on what am I saying 2017 going to be back to back. I better be along for the ride.
