I wasn't having a go at Sting, I am a fan of Meatloaf but I have never been a huge fan of Sting

I only love the song Every Breath You Take but the version he played was a fair bit different than the one I liked.

I agree with them. Without the bye we wouldn't have won. But that has about the relevance of the capital of Poland. Every side knew how the season would be structured months before the start of the season, and we were lucky enough to benefit from it. But bugger me, we were overdue for a bit of luck after the season of injuries we had.

I actually thought we were pretty unlucky playing on Sunday in Perth round 23, then the Thursday 10 days later back in Perth again for the EF whilst other teams got the full week off. Made it a real tight thing with the injured players getting back in time

I don't get the hate on Sting at all. Maybe it was different because I was there, and not watching on telly, but he nailed the acoustics of the venue. This was unlike Vance Joy, whom I rate and listen to often, who really didn't know how to deal with the awful acoustics (I was buying beer during The Living End so cant judge). Seriously, I thought Sting's experience and professionalism was great, and all of the people around me were saying so. Really added to the excitement of the day, and made me start to appreciate how special the event is.

Then I watch replays and analysis and people were hating on Sting? Didnt get it at all.

Think that people need to recognise the distinction between playing the venue live and playing it for the people on TV. To play it live you need to change the way you play, and to do that you need to value the people who are live over the people watching on TV.

I envy your calmness.

I hated every second of the pre-game entertainment not due to some dislike of the artists or the sound quality but because i could not wait until the game started (and ended) and i could see how the Dogs were going to go. I know having waited 62 years you would think a further half hour wait would be bearable but not for me.

PS it was worth the wait though!

I love this picture. Taken literally one second before the final siren! :D

The MCG is just awful for acoustics. Guys like Sting & Tom Jones are used to playing in big stadiums so they were able to compensate but Vance Joy pretty much didn't stand a chance since folk really isn't suited to somewhere like the MCG.

Plus, the other sides already had full teams; we just caught up. Everyone had the same week off, can't understand the "Dogs had an advantage" complaints.

It wasn't until days later when I looked back through my photos that I realised when it was taken. Literally the last moment before I could say I've seen a Bulldogs flag in my lifetime. I love how you can see where all the players were standing on the siren before they all started running towards each other, immediately before the chaos.

Can anyone remember a former top three draft pick playing a career best game in a premiership? This player did nothing afterwards or beforehand. It shouldn't be too hard to work out.

Hopefully he isn't compared to Tom Boyd in years to come.

BOG in my opinion too. Was in everything.
In the immediate overflowing of emotion after the game at MCG, I was on JJ for the Norm Smith. On viewing the replay, I thought Picken, Boyd, Morris & Macrae. By the third replay I settled on Macrae and further replays have not changed my mind.

His work rate has always been first class but his ability to get a ball out of a contest whilst under enormous pressure in traffic or in a tackle has become peerless.
Those secondary stoppages 15-25meters in front of our goal were converted with some regularity because of Macrae. If you don't look carefully you will miss it - sometimes its Daniel, sometimes its liber or Dahl - but usually its Macrae dishing out the 1-2 meter handball to the goal kicker. Because he does not kick goals or even look to kick goals the commentary team doesn't pay much heed to Jackson.

In so many of the big moments throughout our finals campaign - Macrae is the link in the chain which results in the goal. He feeds, Clay, he feeds, stringer, he feeds, Picken.

In the second quarter when we played Geelong at Kardinia park. A critical game, because I think we started to believe we could beat anyone - until the injuries. Liber and Macrae had the jobs on Selwood and Danger. When liber went down with injury - we still looked good and led Geelong. Danger was still on the leash. Once Macrae went down, Dangerfield let loose and it was game over.

Macrae will probably never win a brownlow - he will not have BT and Bruce in histrionics but he is the rolls royce engine which grinds the opposition and puts glory on a plate for others to feast on.

And in the semi against Hawthorn he had 39 possessions and a whopping 19 in the third quarter and still seemed to go under the raider in voting and compliments. Macraes slowly becoming my favorite player simply because he deserves to be someone's favorite.
Your spot on about watching the replay, the more I watch it the further Macrae goes ahead as BOG,he was by a mile,in everything, every goal is pretty much Macrae somewhere.

Seriously underrated everywhere , even on this board.
Suffers from people worrying about the things he is not great at and forgetting how great the rest of his game is.
Don't how many times of said this on this forum , but he has been a gun the minute he walked in the door.
Put my hand up --- wasn't overly thrilled when we called his name out draft night.
How great is it to be so wrong ;)

Personally I think he just flies under the radar,he doesn't cop the abuse on here some of our other players do but then again he's form doesn't tend to drop off or maybe I've just missed it. I've always been a big wrap but I do think he could kick a goal or two but he's still young, that might come. Best thing is he's played the GF now and our supporters are going to watch it and there is no way you can watch that game,or any of the finals after the Elimination and not be more and more impressed each time you do so,absolutely outstanding he was.

I love Macrae. He's such a workhorse. I like that there's no fanfare. He just goes about his business. Kind of bloke that would not give a stuff that no one notices half the stuff he does.

On a side note. Does anyone else at times forget that we won the grand final and then you see something that jolts it back in to your mind. I still actually cannot believe they did it. Might be time for me to watch the replay again.

Good comment actually. Even after he copped that smack in the mouth in the Prelim he just let the ump quietly know but when he didn't even get as much as a free kick just forgot about it and kept on going about his business of winning us the game.

If only Macrae did win the Norm Smith. His form was tremendous. One of my favourites. I threw $30 on him for the Norm Smith.

Check out Macraes form in all the finals, absolutely killed it.
Thought he was well off the pace against West Coast, but his 2nd halves in the next 3 finals were clutch as ****

Nearly everything he touched turned to gold.

Hunter was damaging at times against Hawthorn and Sydney also, but not as consistent as Jack.

Macrae certainly has come a long way in his decision making, the ability to make position rather than ball watch in those final 3 minutes of the GWS game was an example

The pre game I can't really remember Vance Joy, standing room is chaotic (having a seat maybe different??) but he sounded so good at the after match show. I didn't wait around to see the Living End I was stuffed.
