Anything not "awareness" at this stage is going to be missing round 1 I thinkHow bad is the Switta hammy?
Hopefully not too serious.Anything not "awareness" at this stage is going to be missing round 1 I think
HamstringWait - he's out? What happened?
Do you mean Banfield??Well with Switta out now, I think Simpson is the closest like for like. Plus he's shiny and new.
Hopefully he gets a run in the pre-season games.
Simpson would've already been in for shoota. So either banners or sturt.Well with Switta out now, I think Simpson is the closest like for like. Plus he's shiny and new.

We'd all like to think that but we all know its not true.Simpson would've already been in for shoota. So either banners or sturt.

Well Banfield was pretty invisible in the last intra club so he better pick up his game this preseason. There is no world in which Banfield should be in instead of Sturt. But, Banners is always brilliant in pre-season so will probably do enough to be in round 1.
I’m still in the Fyfe starts and gets subbed out for Brodie middle of the 3rd quarter camp. Don’t lose much as they play a very similar role but helps manage Fyfes loads and a fresh Brodie is probably our highest impact sub.So far this preseason I have seen arguments for Fyfe, Brodie and now Banfield as the super sub. We might have some deficiencies on our list but seems we're absolutely stacked for the sub role.
I reckon you can be too cute with planning for the sub to be a scheduled replacement for just one player, first and foremost you want the sub as injury cover and so versatile. What concerns me in your scenario is Brodie is such a one trick player and not really an impact player either, I don't see him as a good sub option personally.I’m still in the Fyfe starts and gets subbed out for Brodie middle of the 3rd quarter camp. Actually sucks for Brodie, but unless he can develop a secondary role can’t see him and Fyfe on the ground at the same time.
If you’re going to do that you need a couple of flexible players in the 22 already in case of injury - specifically In the midfield so they can make way for Brodie, Eg switta, Ras, JOM, Johnson - but most of those are only suitable to go into forward line not back.I’m still in the Fyfe starts and gets subbed out for Brodie middle of the 3rd quarter camp. Logic is sound until any of the 21 other players get injured and we are treacle slow in the midfieldI’m still in the Fyfe starts and gets subbed out for Brodie middle of the 3rd quarter camp. How does Banfield help if a defender goes down?If you’re going to do that you need a couple of flexible players in the 22 already in case of injury - specifically In the midfield so they can make way for Brodie, Eg switta, Ras, JOM, Johnson - but most of those are only suitable to go into forward line not back.
We have that flexibility, especially when Switta and Jackson are in the team. Apparently Brodie played some forward minutes in the last Sim so I don’t think that’s a problem. I may be placing too much emphasis on one game, but none of our subs in 2023 had the impact Brodie did in the GC game. That’s what a sub should bring, high impact when the rest of the team are fading. If you’re going to do that you need a couple of flexible players in the 22 already in case of injury - specifically In the midfield so they can make way for Brodie, Eg switta, Ras, JOM, Johnson - but most of those are only suitable to go into forward line not back.

Surely Emmett over Banfield and sturt

Surely the sub doesn’t need to be versatile if 90% of the rest of the team is?
You just move everyone else if you need to
And it’s why most teams do the same. The scenario when clubs don’t is player coming back from injury can also be used as the sub. That’s kinda why BB works. He can almost plug any gap.
We’re not always exchanging 1 for 1 with the sub, we may get multiple injuries in a game which throws the Fyfe for Brodie argument out the window.
I’m for the sub being the most versatile player possible.
Sub is going to be interesting. I'm liking Simpson. Whoever it is we need someone who can get going fast.Is there a way that Brodie or Fyfe start and the other is the sub. Play half a game each.
Doesn't expose Brodies fitness and is a way of managing Fyfe through the season.
I don't think they both can play with current midfield as we'll be too slow.
