we are the mirror image of the purples in attack and are getting beaten at clearances. Lessons to be learn but players with 4-6 years experience aren't part of they solution I suspect. Looking forward to the next 4 quarters as our fitness kicks in.

Not sure that will eventuate. Freo have had their toughest ever preseason according to their players.

Tackling pressure has generally been good
Getting beaten at clearances too often
Ball movement a bit stagnant and struggling to get the clean passages that Freo are generating at times
Kickouts still going to the right
Allen presenting well up forward, as is Waterman
Long is so clean it’s not funny
Kelly our best mid by some margin, needs more help
Jamieson hasn’t been horrible in defence in an undersized defence
Walters and Fredericks getting too much footy in space
Rawlinson showing some really good forward half defensive work
Need to clean up our goal kicking

Game day melts I haven’t missed

Long looked like he got a knock to the shin. Watched him talk to the trainers in the bench and there didn’t seem to be much concern after their initial discussions

He wasn’t limping anymore when he got off the bench to walk to the rooms at half time

That said, I wouldn’t be surprised if they sit him out for the remainder of tonight since it’s a practice match

Plenty of rust out there with our lads and we’ll be better for the run.

We looked very good second half of that period (quarter 2), repeat entries and forward 50 tackles helped create numerous chances which we didn’t finish.

Around the contest, missed tackles or minor fumbles is seeing the ball race away with Freo, similar problem to last year. Freo look much cleaner and sharper.

Bailey would have to be league best for hit-outs to disadvantage, amazing how often he is a forearm higher than opposing ruck, all for his hit-out to be no where near our lads.

Waterman is currently ahead of Maric in their ‘battle’. Covering some solid ground and getting involved nicely.

Long and Rawlinson impressive.

Reid hasn’t had to do too much, but also hasn’t tried to do too much when he’s called upon either, not a bad start.
