It's funny how people think:

(a) Kerr types are worth rubbish + more rubbish + a fairly decent pick. Quantity does not equal quality. Some supporters do this more than others.

(b) if you trade a fairly high draft pick for a gun player you are only getting 4 or 5 great years of service for a kid that could play potentially 15 seasons for your club. Firstly, how many draftees play for more than 5 years? And when a player reaches 27 every supporter wants to get rid of him anyway.

Some people should have a good read at the precedent that has been set for the past 20+ years and figure out that the AFL is not like AFL 08 on the PlayStation where you can offload any old trash to pick up a gun player. Very rarely does one club get screwed over, and clubs aren't stupid. They know who the dud or semi-dud players are.

And I haven't even begun to comment on the "well you better trade with us or you risk losing him in the PSD" stupidity quote...

I would be happy with port to give up pick 4 and a WA player for Kerr atleast then we know excately what we are getting with our pick 4 ....

oh and Wayne Carey to Adelaide Crows for Draft picks #2 and #18 is just lololololololololololol

The Crows did NOT hand over picks 2 & 18. They handed over picks 4 & 20. It was only after trade week that the AFL decided to penalise Carlton, stripping them of picks 1 & 2 because of the salary cap scandal. Thus all the other picks moved up 2 positions in the draft - and what was #4 became #2.

I sincerely doubt that the deal would have been done in that form if the Crows had known they were handing over pick #2. Then again, they gained pick #4 from Richmond in the trade for Kane Johnson - I doubt the Tigers would have parted with it either if they knew it would become pick #2.

For what it's worth, North ended up with Daniel Wells & Kris Shore as a result of the picks they gained.

why would carlton trade gibbs
why would saints trade hayes
why would brisbane trade dalziell
why would pies trade m.clarke

youd be crazy to trade any of these players, all players of the future early in their careers.

Its a stupid argument because there are great players that go past pick 4 that could have been picked instead, but what I'm trying to say is high picks don't always mean great players. If you get Didak you know exactly what your going to get - a match winning forward who is only what, 25,26 years old?

You would feel average if you passed up on Didak and got any of those above apart from maybe Leunberger and Morton...

Didak is a great player, dont get me wrong.

It's his negative attitude towards Port that he has displayed in the past, and his undisciplined approach to his football. He was given his chance, and then about a week or two after his sanctions were lifted he's back on the turps and in trouble again.

I dont want him because he's not a skilled footballer, it's his attitude that is a problem and can be cancerous toward other younger and easily influenced footballers. It's too much of a risk to the club.
