And we've seen how bad Mackenzie and butler have been this year. This is a disgraceful move. Bartel and Enright didn't even have a decision made until the end of the year and they were playing so so much better than Priddis is and both are gone. They also have more credits.
Boomer says hi too.

Everything you've said there would be done better by retaining Mitchell for a year.

We do not need Priddis to hold back our midfield for another year.

Agreed, I didn't say it's ideal just that I'm relaxing about it. I find it hard to imagine Mitchell having the necessary enthusiasm to go on next year personally.

This is making me feel worse by the day :(

God dammit what is it with ageing players trying to stay on longer than they should when the writing is on the wall?

Cox was desperately trying to get to 300 games, and it got to the point where we all started feeling negative about one of our own players. Waving his arms around playing for frees (WWIAFTM) and having Simpson introduce a ridiculous 3 rucks policy was just a nightmare to endure

Embley arguably went on a year longer than he should have. Same thing again, gets to the point where his form drops off a cliff and the club continues to play him much to the detriment of the team and it's fans. He wasn't used as depth at all towards the end, still got a gig ahead of better players.

Then you have Kerr :fireemoji:. The complete opposite of those two  Here we have a leader who is still contributing positively and amongst our most influential players each week. His form wasn't drastically dropping off at all and yet the little champ decides to call it quits for the benefit of the team as he didn't have confidence in his banged up body. Despite the fact he was offered another contract to continue playing. It's what separates him from the other deadwood vets which decide to hang around longer than they should. Massive respect for this ****ing man Darce. Compare his departure to that of Cox, Embley and now Priddis.

So finally onto Matt... I really didn't want to get back to this point. I really didn't. His 2015 changed my view of him completely, and i've had an immense respect for him which i've carried on.... until now. I find myself almost at the exact point i was in 2014 where all i saw was the negative effect he was having on the side. I wanted him to go out a champ, without my opinion coming back around in a circle. Unfortunately that's not going to be the case now, i'll no doubt find myself resenting him being on the list, let alone in the starting team each week for the next 2 seasons :thumbsdownemoji::thumbsdownemoji::thumbsdownemoji::thumbsdownemoji::thumbsdownemoji:

Absolute ****ing trash tonight and you all know it Matt. Why did you have to do this?

I'll be honest. If Priddis, Lecras, Mitchell and Butler are still on our list and getting games next year I'm going to take a break for a while. I've already lost a lot of interest in the sport in general and if there is no list movement then whats the point.
Just catching up with this story this morning and reading through all the melts is setting my day up perfectly:p. The bolded part is exactly how I have felt watching our club for the past few years. We are boring as bat shit to watch ! Damn it, we used to be the most exciting !

Stoked about the news. Good to see our well behaved players continue to get the chocolates. Our club needs to reward our players that go to bed at 7pm and never walk away from a night out having had to much to drink.
I say

Spiffing post old bean.

No point staying up much past elevenses is there?

yikes...

Would be ok if he hung around as depth "break glass in case of emergency" type player but you just know he's going to be playing out every game until the bitter end. Almost feels like a pre-emptive don't bother whining about dropping Priddis because he's going to be here for a while move.

I have heard it on good authority that Kerr was actually sacked by the club despite the fact that he had one-year to run on his contract. They had enough of his behaviour despite the fact he was still able to contribute at AFL level.

Nothing against Priddis. Who wouldn't accept a contract extension? He obviously feels like he can play on and I'm sure with a young family, he'd find it hard to turn down the money.

It's the club we have to be angry at. It's not a ****ing charity. It's severely lacking any form of spine.

Is this the same measure for the "Don't kick it sideways, kick it long" club

Ironically though, Priddis' footy career was made by the WAFL and will die in the WAFL... poetic really. Footy Operations department has well and truly lost it. I can imagine agenda's for meetings.

1. Re-sign Priddis
2. Eddie the Eagles nails need clipping, source appropriate contract
3. Eagles Dance Squad need new pom-poms

52. Something about "List Refresh or list review" heard it discussed maybe in the corridor during lunch, I think. timeline: non-priority

I think his incident at the casino mid 2013 was what did it!

Well sometimes (Brad Johnson & Boomer Harvey most recent club favs) will just keep going knowing that the club don't want to shoot Bambi in front of the supporters. You wouldn't turn down a $400,000+ a year job that can only be done for a couple of more years...before you know it that couple of years has turned into 5.
the club are really strange about this; that there isn't someone having an honest conversation (something I think is terrible at the club to be honest) about where the future lies, that our list management are making this signing mid-season with a few hopefuls through gritted teeth are saying "its just for injury cover and to teach the young guys...its just for injury cover and to teach the young guys...he won't play every game" and that the club media dept. are acting as if this signing was a priority and now we should all rejoice in it.

To the hopefuls out there do you really think he is just injury cover and that he won't play every game? As I have very little confidence the club see it that way and that that is what will actually happen.

Somewhere in there needs to be; underwear & profit.

But don't be ridiculous as if somebody could get list refresh or list review tacked on as an agenda item when we are in "Premiership mode".

You'd be so pissed off being drafted to this club. "You don't have any credits, so you get to play at East Perth for the first couple of years". Cue the homesickness rumours and then we'll get **** all for them when they want to go home.

If Parto doesn't get a gig next week there's every chance i'll spontaneously explode.

he has a mortgage to pay. Just making sure he still gets paid next year.
I have no problem with Priddis signing if he is offered - it is his livelihood. The problem I have is with the club making unnecessary premature decisions that box us into a corner before having all of the evidence. If we were on top of our game with loads of youth coming through, I wouldn't care but given we seem in a downward trajectory with an aging list and questions over his form and our youth getting enough exposure, this smacks of stupidity.

I dont mean us I meant with the league. Just so amateur

Besides trading a first for Redden, I don't recall any awful decisions we've made in the last 2 seasons regarding list management.

We offered McGinnity and Brown contracts last season and both chose to reject them. Priddis now. Arguably Butler shouldn't have got a contract, although we had a significant turnover last off season.

If we were totally ruthless we would have paid Fraser out and taken another pick in the rookie draft.

Hindsight says Redden was a bad move, but at the time I think most were okay with it.

The big ones are what happens with EMac and Lecca over the next while.

And yet Cox, whilst clearly declining, wasn't to the same extent as this. The 3 ruckman in the same side didn't help him either while we were trying to sign Lycett, and a lot of us IIRC just wanted him gone so Lycett stayed. Priddis is cooked, he has been overtaken by Sheed as the number one inside mid on form, and will now be either running around in the WAFL (preferred) or plodding along in the AFL at 60% game time getting 18 touches, killing his legacy.
