List Mgmt. Priddis Signs On Again

I'm not saying signing Priddis was a good thing, I'm just trying to find some reason in it before jumping to conclusions.

Besides trading a first for Redden, I don't recall any awful decisions we've made in the last 2 seasons regarding list management.
You don't sign someone as an injury backup halfway through the previous season. That's the kind of contract a competent list manager would leave as long as possible so you can see how things shake out. It's not like we're competing with any other teams for his services.
Plenty of poor list management decisions. Sinclair for Jetta (we had the far more valuable asset at the time). All the times we've brought other teams crap on to the rookie list which has lead to us not using the rookie list to it's potential. In fact we've used the rookie list extremely poorly of late. Some very wierd and illogical draft decisions considering our needs.

Actually - we can all relax. It actually all makes sense. The AFL have introduced a new rule at the GF srpint. Anyone representing their club in the half time sprint must be contracted to play the following year. Hence Vozzo took the decision that if we continue to play Priddis, we will not be at the big dance so we will send Matty to run or if we get serious about our team structure and list management and relegate Matty to EP, we will need Matt to be running since the other contenders will be playing on the main stage.

Either way - the signs all pointed to the need to re-sign Matty.

"We were always making sure, first and foremost, that the body was feeling good," Priddis said of his contract extension.

Didn't somebody post just last week that Priddis is having some injury concerns with his back and his form has slumped as a result? The game against GCS was one of his worst games for the year.
Wouldn't form be the number 1 factor when signing any player? FFS

As I said before, I don't agree with the decision to sign the contract in June and I think it was a bad idea.

That being said I'm starting to relax about it a bit more thinking that in the short term he can at least provide protection and guidance to guys like Duggan and Partington and, most importantly, his presence means there is less reason to bring back Jack Redden.

Everything you've said there would be done better by retaining Mitchell for a year.

We do not need Priddis to hold back our midfield for another year.

.

Swallow at North & Thompson at Adelaide are eyeing off a spot on our list next year.

I jokingly said a few days ago the club will probably take Swallow if NM don't want him anymore. At this stage, after today, I really wouldn't be surprised if we do that. I just have no faith in this club anymore.

Matt Priddis "guiding" Duggan, Partington and the other young mids

"Ok guys, now, when you feel the tiniest bit of pressure, handball it to the feet of your outside runners or kick it as hard as you can as high as you can and then jog in which ever way the ball is going"

Why is everyone assuming he's not just going to be cover next year?

While the timing is odd, I guess the signing was done to offset the negativity surrounding our form.

**** me, I actually agree with you on this. Club is purely playing defence because the fans and media have turned on them for being a joke and they don't want Priddis in the gun for it in the back end of 2017.

If the was the case, and it was Le Cras was shown the door as first veteran out I'd be relatively happy.

Plus I do see a scenario where Priddis might still be needed in 2018. Its the one in which everyone else asks to be traded and there is no-one left. I'm kinda shocked we still have Shuey, can see him asking to go home in the off season. Club looks to be in turmoil, who'd want to stick around for another season of it if it continues.

"We're happy with the Swallow pickup, he has been down on recent times but has credits in the bank and shows intent. Often tries too hard in big losses as well."

There is a small chance that this is the case. I'm trying to be optimistic. Get a years salary to be injury cover and provide some insight to the young guys. It has happened to some of the players over the years. McGinnity was one of them. He was a WAFL regular at the end of his career. We've seen Emac, Schofield and Butler spend a bit of time there lately too.
And we've seen how bad Mackenzie and butler have been this year. This is a disgraceful move. Bartel and Enright didn't even have a decision made until the end of the year and they were playing so so much better than Priddis is and both are gone. They also have more credits.

:'( I can hear it already!
I can also hear Vozzo "Yeah, we're really excited to add Andrew to our list, he's been a great player for a number of years now and despite his struggles with form and injuries the last few years we firmly believe he can get back to his best and create a really good on-ball partnership with Matty Priddis"

Not happy but as much as i want him dropped this year it probably wont happen. Next year he could very well be a depth option and would probably be doing a bit of coaching and etc.
