He had two teams (including St Kilda) trying their utmost to sign him after the season. The Saints sure seemed blindsided by his defection, when the obvious sign that he didn't want to be there occurred about four months earlier. The walk-out wasn't the killer for Primus; the result was.

Just goes to show the utter ridiculousness of having these start up clubs in the comp. They're coach killers! Lose to GWS and you're sacked.Obviously held in such scant regard. Port had improved a lot in the first half of the season too.

Adam Simpson if they want a new age, strategic, thinking man's coach who will take time but eventually get a plan in place that can compete with the top tier.

Gary Ayres if they want a tough old bastard to kick the sooks and pretty boys to the curb and build a soul for Port at the Adelaide Oval. They won't be planning long term but at least the kids they get will have some mongrel and vigour.

In a perfect world they would get both and do what the Saints, Pies, Dons, Lions and Giants have done with a former head coach playing the 'bad cop' while the official senior coach is the 'good cop'.
