Re: Primus - is the gloss wearing off already

He had gloss to begin with?

He is a Mark Williams clone, now, in some circumstances that would be exactly what a club would want but it was the exact opposite of what we needed.

Would have preferred nearly any of the other options that were being floated around.

Re: Primus - is the gloss wearing off already

Based on his public interviews (and I acknowledge that this may not reflect real world), Primus is sticking by his guns and maintaining belief in his players. Laidley, on the other hand, leaves no doubt as to what he would do in Primus' position and then backs off by saying "those are not my decisions to make" relating to dropping players letting the team down. It sounds to me like Laidley is very quick to distance himself from Primus' selection choices.

Laidley looked like he just wanted to explode in the PTV after match video. I couldn't help but think that the thought "I don't need this shit" with each and every question was flowing through his mind.

If I was Primus, I would do nothing but get the players to run, run, run and then when they are bent over vomiting, make them run some more. But of course that wont happen because you are not allowed to upset Gen Y'ers.

Re: Primus - is the gloss wearing off already

Agree about Laidley, he seems to be losing the plot on the inside but trying to give away nothing on the outside. His body language and the way he kept moving his jaw around suggests he was one angry fellow.

I really hope to see this week a pile of outs, the showdown is a privilege.

Re: Primus - is the gloss wearing off already

Posted this eslewhere, but in a semi-logical way would be much more beneficial for us to get thumped by the Crows rather than beat them in a close one..
That way our many many issues don't get glossed over with a victory over them.
We would appear to gain more from a Crows thumping than a close 'gutsy' win.

Re: Primus - is the gloss wearing off already

I don't think there is any glossing over that can be done by any result, any more.

To the contrary a win against the Crows could still set up our season - we would then have two matches against GC and Kangaroos to try to get back to 3-3. We need to win this week to put the players back on track.

100% agree. I'm looking forward to the Showdown. Call me crazy but i think we can pull of an upset win. Good for the young blokes playing in Showdowns as well coz the experience is invaluable due to it having a finals like atmosphere. Hopefully Primus pumps up all the boyz and gets them to treat it as though it were a final.

Set up our season? For what!!

We keep getting thrashed.

All respects PJ, but are you under some magical illusion that we might wake up one day in May and it all clicks, and we become competitive all of a sudden?

Sure, I'd love us to beat Adelaide GC and Kangaroos, but on what logical basis can you see us beating them, never mind being competitive.

I said it after Collingwood, it wasn't that we lost, it was how- players and coaching. I said anyone who thinks we will beat WCE should be ashamed. Sure enough they smashed us, humiliated us

We are SO far behind the competition at the moment, how can you think we will beat Adelaide and Kangaroos.

Sure, we might pull it off, linking 4 quarters together while they hit the post, kick it OOF, and have a dog day on a wet track, but even if that happened and we were 3-3, then what?

This club is 6 feet under, with bad players and a coach out of his depth and we need to recognise that. At the least it will make the 1-12 season look more palatable to us.

Re: Primus - is the gloss wearing off already

Ah **** it, lets just give up eh?

God damn bunch of emo's.

We were told on here Salter doesnt play forward as Laidley doesn't rate him as a forward!

Re: Primus - is the gloss wearing off already

To the contrary boydman, things can change if we work hard enough for them to. It was only 9 matches ago, that we turned around a 9 match losing streak and won five of the last six. Irrespective of the opposition, we showed some positive signs.

It might take a couple of wins only for the players to start to believe again. We are a bloody confidence team after all.

Re: Primus - is the gloss wearing off already

Hes a Cunningham's discount coach in a Cunningham's discount team.
For me was not the coach we needed but when you draft the rubbish we have you cant turn pooh into gold coins.
There is no cream on the top for us only the Dregs floating around looking for an easy pay packet.
In some ways i feel sorry for Primus, he never really stood a fighting chance

Maybe we all have the wrong attitude, us, the coach, the players......?

At the very least we can be happy through all this.

True, at work now people just smile and laugh "tee hee, another one eh son. At least they're consistent, I got that footytip right"

Laugh with them I say, makes it much easier to get through a game, season, grand final, decade

Yes, I see a light too
But interpret it differently
Sorry, i just laugh at them now, 5 years of this, im broken
my only way of dealing with it
I admire your determination of course- don't let me near the players, I'll just infect them even more...but then you can't catch whatyou already have I guess

Primus may have been around Choc but to say clone is to lack insight into smarts.. What made Choc somewhat out there was imagination combined with intelligence.. Maybe a little more than needed at times but I dare you to identify anyone in the current coaching box who has the IQ and vision of the man..
And to say the Power were very in the top 4 for coaches spend and football department spend is simply not true..

Let's give this time but I am so sick of the blame Choc for everything..He has been gone for over 9 months now and I am wondering who has improved in that time.. We need money and an admin who makes decisions based on what is best for the football department.

Re: Primus - is the gloss wearing off already

??? Smarts !!!
I will never think of Choc as Dr Evil or Primus as mini me... but to each his own..

Re: Primus - is the gloss wearing off already

Just watched his interview after the game. Gee I like the things he says and he is bloody calm too, which I'm pretty sure is a good thing.

I don't think I'll be able to watch the game live, but hopefully i won't regret avoiding the result and watching it on delay.

Re: Primus - is the gloss wearing off already

You know whats funny. The people bagging the crap out of Primus are more than likely people that bagged the crap out of the club for selecting players like Moore and Pittard. Hmm I don't see many people bagging Pittard out anymore.

Bunch of bloody whingers!!!

Re: Primus - is the gloss wearing off already

Pittard as a player is fine.

Drafting a flanker in the first round that happens to be Pittard, when we desperately needed (and still need) actual centre-square midfielders or maybe another key forward, is a different issue.

Re: Primus - is the gloss wearing off already

I am not sure Pittard is a flanker.
Just because he is cutting his teeth as a flanker doesn't mean he is being groomed to be a flanker.
IMO he is a real find and a potential gem.

I know This is a very early and big call...but if he stays at port I see him wearing the number 1 one day...

Re: Primus - is the gloss wearing off already

Im backing matty, and can admit that I was for an outsider to take over.

Likeing his selections (and non selections) so far. My one criticism is that he hasn't shown "angry matty" yet, a bit of fire and brimstone like he had as a player.

We finally saw "angry matty" last night, loved the stunned attentive looks on all the players faces.

Re: Primus - is the gloss wearing off already

He won some points for having a Plan B. The problem is our Plan B is infinitely better than our Plan A, and if Plan B doesn't immediately replace Plan A next week he's going to lose all of them as far as I'm concerned.
