Prospective coaches unhappy with "Richo" ultimatum

I think people have taken this post the wrong way. I found it frustrating when I heard the club was already dictating terms with regards to list management before the new coach could have his own plan and vision for the years to come. It would compromise him. Ancient Tiger summed it up well when he said it was the principle that was objectionable. Had this involved any other player on the list that is near retirement, most people would have howled, but the fact it is Richo meant that many conflicting opinions have been raised.

For Astro Boy, I have some more information for you. Richo went in the other day and had knee surgery. The surgery found minor medial ligament damage and that was "tidied" up. Nothing serious was found. Nothing more than the man has almost every time he has surgery to fix his knee at the end of most seasons. The whole thing was a smoke screen to prevent supporter backlash to the fact he re-injured his hamstring almost immediately after running on to the field for Coburg. The medical staff panicked a little as they did not again want to be seen as being dictated by Richo as to when he was ready to play. They decided to rest him for the year and put it under the "knee trouble" banner.
I also know that players like Foley had been made to play all year with injuries (ankle) till it finally gave way. I recall at the time they called it a calf or knee strain but it was always his ankle. Guys like Pattison have never has a proper preseason. The medical staff have rarely taken the best option with their injuries. This guy should have had an operation at the start of the year but instead has been given local injections. This has never let him play/train to his full ability and the guy has lost all confidence. He now may be delisted.

There are many other facts that I do know but don't say because I've been sworn to secrecy. Some are not that good.

I apologize if this post was not verifiably accurate. My sources were not 100% sure themselves. I just thought it was an interesting discussion point and from the number of views/replies it has been.....

Signing off Y&BB.

Thanks again Y&BB, good stuff as always.

Correct me I'm wrong on this (anyone), but didn't the Aints pinch the Swans' club doctor over the pre-season just gone?

Swans have managed their players' bodies magnificently for years (recall blokes like O'Loughlin saying they'd have had to retire half a decade ago without their club doctors' specialised management programs)...this year the Aints have kept practically every essential player on the park and as close as humanly possible to 100% fit for all games and managed them superbly.

If I have the history of this stuff correct (I'm sure I'm pretty close), then the bloke is obviously a genius...so while we bandy around ideas about injecting way more cash into the football department for this and that, IMO we'd be better off throwing an irresistible financial inducement at this bloke and for the first time in living memory, go into the next season (and those thereafter) with a full list of fit players whose medical (and onfield playing) welfare is being safeguarded by a bloke who knows WTF he's doing...as opposed to the perpetual bungles we have year after year with the current crew and their predecessors.

Hmmm...another 'wise man' to add to the football department round table where they discuss what to do about 'issue x'...or that cash redirected to someone capable of keeping the players we do have in prime condition and able to show their best form.

It's a no brainer really IMO.

It's been very obvious a lot of our players have been playing hurt this year and in years past...some of them absolutely crucified.

Permanently losing serious talent like Coughlan (yes, I know not yet), Meyer, Casserley, and even honest hacks like Hall and Knobel has hurt us badly, not to mention the blokes who play hurt or miss pre-seasons (Cotchin, Connors, JON, Schulz etc) and games because of what seems to be, at face value, plain and simple mismanagement.

It's an area we desperately need to rectify and I'd be very happy to see whatever cash it takes thrown at the problem to solve it.

Perhaps a fair chunk of the problem with our 'club spirit' is that we have so few carrying so much of the load - solely because the rest are battling to be out there playing at all. Then the one's carrying too much for a while join the ranks of those battling to play and the farce gets compounded.

Y&BB (PM me all the juicy shit?)

LOL...I was tempted to fire off a PM to Y&BB RatD, but knowing probably just a fraction of what Y&BB does already has my blood boiling.

Suffice to say that a number of favourite 'punching bag players' on this board and blokes who have had 'mysterious form dips' have had very little chance to show what they're really capable of due to medical mismanagement, and to make matters worse for them (reputation wise), these matters rarely become public knowledge.

Horrible situation to be in as a player...do the gutsy thing...week in week out playing hurt for the club, get cut to shreds by the 'supporters' for being 'not good enough' as a result, and lose all right to having a decent excuse because it all has to be kept in-house.

It's the right thing to do keeping it in-house of course, but we need to get to the stage where we don't have a long list of persistent medical issues to hide in the first place.

Seems like premierships and finals campaigns are being more and more decided by correct medical/injury management and fitness gurus than ever before. We need to improve in this area as much as player development before we become a force.

Thanks Y&BB for the info.:thumbsu:

Pattison a good example of this?
