Anyone keen to be in a punting competition over the spring? I am happy to set one up if there is interest, I've done them before a couple of years back on here. I'd also hope our esteemed friend DJ Ryan would accept?

Only problem with this is though wouldn't a competition among ourselves stop posters from giving tips and information they have recieved through conections etc... Thus killing off some goods oil that this board may be able to give to average punters like myself?

Don’t expect any interest from the people who have been here a while.
It’s one thing to aftertime, generalise and sit on the fence.
It’s another thing to put yourself out there and put your reputation on the line, ie keep a running profit,loss.
Is it a micky mouse comp or a relevant comp with selection weighting similar to real punting?
Just curious, how this would work as far as rules etc are concerned.

You get $100 per week and can use it to bet on 5 races of your choice. You can choose the amount you want to bet for each race, as long as you spend $100 on 5 races. Thoughts? Suggestions?
As far as those who don't want to be in it for fear of failure.... get a life. We are all amateur punters and anyone who thinks otherwise needs a reality check.

Rules
-Each entrant gets $100 which they can use for 5 races anywhere in Australia
on the day
-You can bet in whatever quantities you want, as long as you have 5 races and have spent your $100.
- Win and/or place bets only (no flukey exotics!)
- Competition will run Oct 21 (caulfield cup day) Oct 28 (cox plate day) Nov 4 (derby day) Nov 7 (melbourne cup day) Nov 9 (oaks day) Nov 11 (stakes day)
- Bets must be posted by the jump of the first race in Melbourne (this will more often than not be the first race in the country as it's carnival time which = early starts)
- You can post emergencies in case of scratchings but if not, you will get the tote favourite.
-Results will be calculated on UNITAB dividends as that is the easiest way for me when I calculate everyones results. If you want to keep a tally of your own then you can go to www.tabonline.com.au for all the dividends
- The winner will actually earn the tag as best punter on bigfooty, unlike some who like to just label themselves the best. (pretty good prize, considering some of the ego's this forum has seen over the years!)
