QAFA (A) - 2014 Season

Bit of an upset, Ipswich form had been very poor. Game report? Can they challenge the swans next week away?

Yea Ipswich played better than what we'd seen from them earlier in the year and will hopefully give the Swans a go of it next week. Their young fella Brick is an absolute jet and, in my opinion, was probably the difference between the two sides with his clearance work giving Ipswich some serious go-forward all day.

As for a match report, Uni were up by a goal at quarter time after an even, pretty free-flowing first 30 minutes. Ipswich converted a lot better than we did in the second quarter to go into the sheds up by three goals, although there were a lot of turnovers from both teams. Third quarter was again pretty even with the Eagles taking a four goal lead into the final quarter. Uni gave it a real crack in the fourth with our play-on at all costs style giving us the lead with about four minutes to go. Ipswich then went ahead with about two minutes to go on a free kick from 10m out a bit of an angle. Last couple of minutes went for ages with a lot of stoppages before full time finally blowing with the ball at half-back for UQ.

Whilst obviously disappointed I think Uni will look back on the season in a week or two and consider it a successful one. Our goal at the start of the year was to make the finals (for the first time) so that was a big step forward for us. Hopefully the core senior players stick around and we can give it a real shake next year.

Sorry for the delay in match report but I went to see UQ and Ippy. Not the best standard of game I've seen for a final and UQ had about 5 shots on goal at the start of third and last... Should have won it but like the week before against us, were very flat. I was quite surprised. Browny almost single handedly won it for UQ in the last but they couldn't get across the line... Pine Rivers easy this wknd and moorooka, too sharp at home...

Don't you mean Carrara seniors? I heard ippy had a reserves side on the field but as expected Carrara fielded a heap of seniors.
from my understanding there was only about 5 players in the saints side that played ipswich ressie from 2 weeks ago the rest were as we know senior players, but will be luck if they pass this week real cocky tho they think they have it won if they make the gf and its a big if i think uq will blow them off the park by a 100 points. good luck to the saints in trying to keep all their ressies players they have dropped in the last 2 weeks for next year, not much hope i reckon, why would you play and know you will get dropped at the end of the year, the clubs done it once so they will do it again for sure

The scores both weeks were basically the same... I don't think UQ or Redcliffe will have a problem beating them. They also still have to travel the Pine Rivers and get past the Swans.

Carrara best senior 22 wouldn't beat uni 2nds so it's pointless weather it is happening or not. To be honest i have no care . I can't wait to see roosters v tigers could be the best game of the year so far, both teams fully strength I believe.

Np1 any inside info ?? Spades what's the feeling like out your way ? Did #21 get through training he looked very ginger on Saturday ? Is roosters #7 ok I heard he fractured his cheek and is out still ? Any truth ?

Roosters by 40 that's my tip home ground to strong to fast .

And swans by 30 in that game any pine rivers people here can confirm they had over 8 missing on the weekend?

Yeah mate Grainger #7 is out no good ;-) ! Ah well . But nothing to report from our end tigers looked incredibly sharp on sat so will be hard to beat .

Seems the old "stacking reserves for a flag" debate is back again.

I have had a look at the sides and so everyone is on the same page the Saints reserves side had a total of 94 senior games for the year. So works out at between 4-5 games per player.

Some had high numbers, others a handful.

Take it as you will, but they are the numbers.

Team sheets mean jack shit mate its pretty easy to play players under other names
Mate, it's not the 1990's anymore.

No way would teams play players under false names in finals, just doesn't happen. Get caught and get in all sorts of strife, player gets injured and club officials in a serious world of hurt and the player in question wouldn't have any coverage insurance wise.

Any match reports from the qualifying finals? I saw the 2nd half of swans v Carrara in ressies and first 3/4's of the seniors.

Ressies game was a great finish. Horrible conditions and just a slog. Swans missed a few goals that could of won it late, and managed to level scores. Carrara kicked a late point and that was enough. Both teams very even, if that is a stacked side for Carrara it's not surprising their seniors didn't go real well.

Seniors, swans jumped out the gates and kicked 4 in the first. Ipswich missed a few. Second quarter was all Ipswich. But they missed a lot of set shots which killed them. Scores level at half time. 3/4 was all swans. I left before the last but you could see they were going to run away with it. Weather was horrible! I went home and had a warm shower and a beer!

Swans to play redcliffe again! 3 times in a month! Both sides should be getting to know each other now!

Hi all yesterday I went to Moorooka , and watched the roosters put on a clinic in the wet. They were never lead , they seem to be back to there top gear good luck the rest .

made the drive to moorooka on the weekend and firstly.. how does that field get a home and away game let alone a final? a good hit out in the ruck could be a rushed behind its so small and from i could see a sand pit too. why use such a disgraceful ground for a final when there is a perfectly good ground at Griffith Uni. could also put a gate on the uni ground and charge entry and raise funds to upgrade the moorooka club house... is there some deal saying that you cant use the uni?? im clueless so can be enlightened.

as for the game, moorooka played a hard tough good wet weather style football that exposed the smaller bodies of redcliffe. with a red card and few injuries which left redcliffe with no rotations for the last 40 minutes it showed as the roosters ran away convincing winners. Marking was top notch in the wet so look out when the roosters play in the dry

Mate firstly your a w***er! the smartest thing you said was your last line .

As for the ground thought it held up well in the ran ,

As for the size dickhead ,
Makes me think you don't go to many games few smaller ground than ours
Carrara , park ridge , uni

The end

No more post from me have a great off season all
Bye

Moorooka had their ground re-surfaced in the off-season and it has presented well all year, especially given its being used on friday nights as well.

Bizarre rant. It's a good ground, and not really that small - just has tight wings.

Rain and there's the end

Moorookas ground is small but it is ok. Its good to have different sized fields in the comp. Keeps things interesting! The surface is a lot better than it was a few years ago.

Was interesting to see Cararra's senior side only just beat PRs twos!

Interestingly enough there is no complaint lodged here from anyone at the Tigers or UQ. For our part it is a great ground to play on in any event but how good did it hold up in such appalling weather??
Not sure I get the size of the ground bit. If one side can kick a goal from a good hit out then so can the other!!
A big shout out to Webby and everyone at GM for hosting us on a tough day out.
