Really?? Thats unfortunate for a club captain and obviously great player of the club.
SMY ,, not correct ,, Nelson and Fisher are going to play in Victoria county area of Horsham,,,fly in fly out and reportandly will be on $ 1500 a game each .
Moncrieff , has retired, sick of the injuries which saw him play only about 8 games last season, Hes still on the Gold Coast and from all reports luvs th eclub as does his Dad, the great Hawthorn player be it Michael Moncrieff.
As I posted 3 weeks ago , yes we have lost some good senior players on top of the above, but we have recruited 3 guns ( as mentioned by Millar ) and also 2 well credentialled big bodied mids from the powerful Geelong Football league.. we will be strong again

The million dollar question - where is Payney going to land?
Park Ridge going on what crap Freddy and Macca spread😂

But it’s good to know we can get good players at the end of their journeys back to lower levels of community footy to help that stay alive.

I’m not sure I understand but why would match payments be paid when no game was played? We missed 5 games due to covid in the QAFL in 2021 and I can guarantee you none of our boys were paid or will be for not playing!

You’d have to think $$$ have come into it as I can’t imagine Perkins wouldn’t have had a chat to him. Aspley have a lot of good players to get inside the cap so makes sense they’d miss the occasional one
Who would he replace? Like any club that has just won a premiership and retained the players, can you fit them in.

I think Tommo is being sneaky there and alluding to the widely circulated speculation/rumour that many of Aspleys 2021 VFL squad were paid incentives to stay on for the 2022 QAFL season, by offering to pay their 2021 contract balances.

However, the salary cap police would quite rightly consider that to be a 2022 signing incentive, and it would not be permitted to be excluded...well you would think so anyway!

Those that didn't stay at the Hornets in 2022, didn't get their 2021 money - so maybe Payney still has that offer available to him ?
;)

Or it could all just be wild speculation of course.

Thanks for the explanation Miller. 👍

Geez very quiet on hear hey ,,, including me ,, no real news . Broady have just done some more facility improvements to the clubhouse exterior viewing area and whist not completed its lookin great ,,, see pics on the Cats facebook today

Hearing Palmy definitely have Frawley committed in between his coaching duties at Suns plus they into Patton to play as well?

Palmy also have a handy SA recruit along with Grogan Medalist
Fraser Nietz. They will be more than competitive if they land any Southport left overs.

is that the only measure of development?

Or consistently churning out quality QAFL and VFL footballers and being a Top 3 Colts side without fail every year 90% from home grown talent?

Getting kids to the AFL is the job of the Suns and Lions academy, and both not going great at that. Might be better off letting PBC handle it and things could improve?!

But to name a few. Joyce, Spencer, Scheer, Crossley, Dawson? Might be more

Not the only measure but certainly it would have to be right up there. I would argue that if you "best development program in QLD by a mile" then you should certainly be having a number of kids drafted over a 3-5 year window.

I ask again, how many have been drafted in the past 3-5 years?

Jacob heron and Caleb Graham as well

Yea I'd disagree Miller - I think kids getting drafted is "it takes a village" mentality which includes school/club/academy.
Could argue that Academies are the finishing schools and on that measure the Suns in particular have had quite a few. Lions not so many recently but have done okay all things considered - How many A grade athletes choose AFL footy as their #1 option vs RL in Qld still?

But I do agree that PBCSHS run a good program with some very good people involved.

Give credit where due... Palmy have a fantastic junior program and with the school acroos the road ,,well how convientent is that ...their Colts have been super strong for years which results in a lot of these yoiung guys maturing into very good players and are regularly playing Seniors at a young age ,,, thats what grassroots footy is about ,,,its not about how many players made the big time at AFL level
