PB BOG by a mile. Salopek inspring, Chaplin briiliant - he's improved his decision-making ten-fold over the last month. Gray for Pearce (a real worry); and Wake for the not-quite-ready-for-prime-time Carlisle, and we are in business.

Some great TV moments:

Cometti on Cousins: (sometime after he lifted his jumper to reveal a tatt on his guts that says 'Such is Life') "It's hard when you have to read your on stomach"

Cometti on Westhoff: "And next year he'll have shoulders!"

The CCornes sledge on Cousins' fitness post-game was also magnificent.

Interesting comments regarding selection as i agree that Carlile should make way for Wakelin but bringing in Gray (small forward/can go in middle) for Pearce (midfield/forward) is a very interesting comment. Sometimes i think that Pearce doesn't work hard enough on the field & that he has a tendency to go missing... that might just be me though.

Anyway onto Motlop & i can't remember watching a guy who's so blessed with natural playing ability & can play like him, yet i want to rip out my hair when he's kicking for goal. Frustratingly brilliant is the category i would put him in.

Also i loved the 'chainsaw rip celebration' when Westhoff kicked that goal.

Love...absolutely love Westhoff but...

Just feel he needs to work a bit harder with his chasing. Over the past few weeks, including Friday night, I've noticed a couple of times that he just doesn't look like he wants it enough when we don't have the ball. A small criticism, because he does chase but I just think he needs to chase a bit harder. Take a leaf out of Motlop's book...he runs all day even if he's no chance of getting the ball, just to put pressure on the opposition.

Hopefully given another pre-season or 2, the hoff will bulk up and gain a bit more endurance fitness. Gonna be a freakish player me thinks.

I agree - a few times recently I've thought The Hoff hasn't worked hard enough when the opposition had the ball.

For one of the fairest players in the competition, Tredrea has always been under-respected and misrepresented by people outside of Port Adelaide.

Never does he whine or gesticulate about poor forward disposal from his team-mates and very rarely does he protest umpiring decisions - despite the raw deal he has endured throughout his career. As DT illustrates so well in his video collection in an earlier post, Warren has always been a leader in terms of providing goal and score-assists, tackles, shepherds etc.

No amount of argument from any of us will change the opinions of other teams' supporters who fail to appreciate him and misperceive him for his so-called "arrogance". Equally most people out there believe we are lucky and undeserving of standing where we currently are in this year's finals series.

That should provide even more spark for us to prove everyone wrong again. Just as it did so repeatedly over decades in the SANFL.

IN the end, who gives a **** what Crows supporters think of Tredders. All they have is that he made a phone gesture after kicking a goal. Wow...big stuff!

Fantastic leader and Captain.

It's called jealousy and the tall poppy syndrome, laced with an unhealthy obsession about the PAFC who according to the usual moronic suspects, have no money, no supporters, no good players, pathetic youngsters etc, yet continually outperform the so called team for all South Australians.

It usually reflects on their own pathetic lives, with nothing else to live for but the anonimity of BF to express their obvious lack of intelligence and footy knowledge.

"Westhoff - Battered. Should have had 2-3 frees but couldnt take a trick. Had a decent 2nd half considering."

I think He learnt tonight to be a key forward he needs to bulk up...he would of learnt more tonight than he would of, if he did get those frees you think he deserved...If he got the Frees he may go through his career expecting free kicks....Rather than being denied frees like your captain and being a better player and standing up when a little pressure is applied, or being ready for the spillage and the second effort rather than appelaing to the Ump.

Good call. He said as much himself in an after game interview.

A few observations.

I thought the pre-game warm up really lacked intensity and it worried me at the time.

The game was exciting, but it never really reached any great heights. From the West Coast that was understandable- they were missing a lot of players who are pretty hard to cover esp. Kerr and a fit Judd. From our perspective I got the impression we were ready to explode at any time - just needed a really classy goal to fire up the crowd and the team. Maybe in a fortnight the team should look to get fired up a bit more before the game.

I thought the quick run of WC goals at the start of the third came against the flow that was getting established in the second half of the second quarter - where Wilson in particular was providing real leadership and direct run through the middle.

Full credit to WC for toughing it out. Greater credit to our lads for toughing it out and WINNING.

As an aside I can understand why the Freo supporters hate the WC so much. The Hungry Jacks flags do my head in. How can supporters of a club wave sponsors flags that don't even mention the team???

I wouldn't be too hard on Tredrea.

I sat in the Northern stand and there were sooooo many leads he presented that were rejected. Bourgoyne kicked overhim many a time.

Perhaps it's a ploy and the players are instructed not to take the shorter lead and Tredrea's intent is to take a defender out of defence, but me and the father in law were surpised by his lack of opportunities.

I was going to post a stand alone on this but can't post new thread's yet :(

BTW, I sent some people a PM but nothing solid yet, I am looking for anyone who could help me attain a copy of the port magpies premierships in the 80's and 90's.

thanks

westhoff is great but yeah as other have said needs to work harder at chasing and add a little toughness to his opponents. he got banged around on friday but i think it will just make him a even better football player. i can see him bulking up over the summer.
