So 1 point is like.... 5 points??1 goal in the AFLW is like 5 in the men’s game.
So 1 point is like.... 5 points??
Did you watch the Brisbane v North match at the start of the season?Brisbane are better than the crows.
So we aren't talking about Brisbane now ?? We were before.....Did we lose by 1 point or 1 goal 1 point?

We have had an 8 point and a 7 point loss against North. Brisbane were smashed, as were the other finalists that played North. How the 10th placed Cats drew with them is hard to explain.
Pretty gutsy performance, honestly. Should have made more of our second quarter dominance. At the end of the day, the difference between North and the Crows are that when a North player gets the ball inside 50, they know how to find a player or score a goal. The Crows, at best, just kick it to a contest, and at worst just kick it blindly.
Still, that football would have beaten 16 other teams. Just not North.

I think the missed 50s (mostly to Adelaide) for North players who just drop the ball rather than give it back to the player, etc. will probably be looked at more harshly. (I think North deliberately push the edge of the law here to help them track back quickly, and mostly they are permitted to get away with it.)Without wanting to make too big a deal out of it, there should be certain umpiring errors that see you blacklisted for life, or at least not allowed to umpire again until you pass some kind of competency test.
That deliberate call against Prowse was one of those. It sure would have been nice to go into half time only having conceded one goal.
The rainy conditions had a big part in that result.
Again, I actually think we played some pretty good football tonight. We have too many passengers, yes. But it has to be acknowledged that North are a damn good side. When two good sides play well against each other, one of them still ends up losing.
Yes, I wish we would try something tactically to nullify the impact of their star players, but we don't really have many players of that ilk. And frankly, nobody else has managed to do it either.
Yep history repeating, look North have probably just been the better side in those last 3 games the Crows have played them but jeez they have been helped out a couple of times by some umpiring (in the 2 finals) and all 3 games by the Crows errors on-field and by the coaches.Same shit different week
Clarke uses the bench like it's 1996Yep history repeating, look North have probably just been the better side in those last 3 games the Crows have played them but jeez they have been helped out a couple of times by some umpiring (in the 2 finals) and all 3 games by the Crows errors on-field and by the coaches.
I thought the 1st quarter was the Crows best, thought the tackling, defensive setup and ball movement was at its best, sure they had lots of territory in the 2nd but every possession was under pressure and not clean and despite having it inside 50 they couldn’t even get any shots away. 2nd half was what the Crows have experienced against North recently, they get dominated in the midfield as they do nothing to stop the opposition’s game, become handball happy and panic handball to players under pressure and on the turnover North have free players all over the park.
Also the running power North possess just killed them, they could go with them for a half but whether it’s a personnel or just a fitness thing they couldn’t match them the further the game went on (which has been a pattern against these more athletically gifted teams like Brisbane, North & Melbourne… coincidentally the teams they do lose to at this time of year). Again like I said early in the game Clarke barely trusting anyone on the bench has a two-fold effect as not only due to the lack of rotation (49 out of 60) players tire in the 2nd half but because he gives the bench players so little time on ground they play like they’re totally disconnected from the play when they are on the ground.
Feel for Randall who has tried so hard this year but just like the last couple of seasons her teammates are just spluttering over the finish line; her, Gould, Biddell and probably Goodwin can hold their head high after tonight.
Marinoff has certainly dropped off from her ridiculously high level since the GWS game, hasn’t had close to the same cleanness and influence with her possessions since that game - Clarke forcing her to play on Garner is as close to a sackable move I’ve seen.
One thing that’s really annoyed me as the season has progressed is you had a strength last year with Newman & Kelly on each wing, one a player who ran up and back & gained metres by distributing the ball and another who gained metres with her ball carrying and speed, but this year Newman has now been turned from a free moving distributor by foot into nothing more than a contested, panic handball merchant in a team crying out for a running distributor (thanks for that coaches) and Kelly has turned into lost puppy unsure where she should be positioned half the time and is either stuck away from the play or when she is forced to go into the contest fumbles under any pressure. Thought both despite getting hands on the ball a fair bit put in two of the most un-finals like ‘soft’ performances, totally unacceptable in a final.
Charlton was bad tonight but after being left to die at the half-forward wilderness this year I can’t be too harsh towards her, Munyard tried a lot harder than others - I commend her for the effort she’s shown in the back half of the year it’s just very unfortunate she doesn’t have the talent to fully succeed at this level, other senior players like Hatchard & Thompson should be ashamed of themselves tonight, putrid. Hatchard simply can’t move anymore, her groin/hips/back has clearly gone at the start of the season and she’s tried to carry it but it’s just hurting the team this season.
As the season has gone on you do unfortunately start to struggle to see decent AFLW futures for Levy, Tonon, Mueller and Kustermann, feel sorry for them as they’re in no-win situations coming off the bench with limited game time but all clearly struggle with intensity and lack any decent athletic traits which can either get themselves out of trouble or cause damage on the opposition. Kustermann and Levy looked totally hapless in their first final.
Yep, basically Lucas Herbert’ed TarlintonClarke uses the bench like it's 1996

And I'm going to keep banging on this drum - I simply do not understand how you can have four players play less than 50% game time, when nobody was injured. Levy with 42% game time, Kustermann with 32%, Martin with 30%, Tarlinton with 20%. Those numbers are simply unacceptable. For comparison, North didn't have a single player with with less than 50% game time.
What is the strategy there? If those players aren't good enough to put on the field, then don't play them. If they're good enough to be on the field, then give them a chance to warm into the damn game! Just conceding that you will have four players occupying the bench for the vast majority of the match is ludicrous.
Given the pathetic TOG, Kustermann's 8 disposals and 4 tackles doesn't look that bad.
It's pretty clear that we need replacements for at least two of the four you mentioned, plus Martin. I like Ballard but she's a depth player at best. Who knows with Allen, she's looked alright at times but has barely got on the park for two years now. Jones should come back, at least.
And then there's the players who didn't play tonight. There's not a lot of value in retaining the likes of Varnhagen and Waterhouse. Boileau and Boyle-Carr should be given a chance to show they can develop into quality players, but they'd want to make some serious strides next year. Smith should be delisted, and Henry hasn't been close to selection.
