Made the decision not to go in to the city. Mind you I don't think we would have been allowed in. Hopefully they got everything up high enough on the second story. Will be going in to clean-up maybe Saturday.

I plan to go rubber-necking, however I'm going up to Coot-tha and take a few pictures and get some excess energy out of the kids while we're there! Had to go out to the airport today too - more people on the roads than i thought there'd be.

"Our earlier request was an appeal to people to not spam our FB page with reposted commercial offers. Sorry for the confusion"

Cannot believe they have to tweet that right now. What kind of pleb thinks anyone using that site is going to buy something off a spammer abusing their emergency services

Can't believe they're going to dismantle the footbridge. Gives one an idea of how much power is behind that torrent.

Yeah as a UQ grad, the Fred Schonell drive images are shocking.

I'm ex-UQ and ex-Emmanuel, which two of those photos were of. It's pretty amazing, knowing that what was one friend's bedroom at college would be underwater now.

Hey guys,

Pies supporter here - but I just wanted to let you know that my thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time; particularly those of you in Queensland who are affected or under threat at the moment. Footy is most definitely irrelevant at times like this, and I hope that you are all able to stay safe and stand together - we are all behind you. :)

I kind of get this sick feeling in the stomach when they say the worst is yet to come, no disrespect to the people who's houses are progressively disappearing, but the worst has happened already :(

If you find you have each other, and your loved ones are safe and accounted for, console yourselves with the fact you actually have everything.

Love to all.

Have just seen an example of that good old aussie humour...its still there!

A house in the flooded area had a bathtub on the front lawn, and on the side of the bath was written "Plan B"..

All those in Brisbane and elsewhere affected by the floods, please keep yourselves safe and dry. Our rivalry can stay on-hold for the moment. We want you all up and about and in full voice for round 7. Has there been any news on how the Gabba is holding up? The Lang Park shots are unbelievable.

There's been reports of looting going on which I hope is not true - that is un-Australian and disgusting.

Just saw this one on facebook

ATTENTION BRISBANE RESIDENTS: Storage king has just put out an offer for those who live in Brisbane affected by floods for free storage, they have trucks and trailers available to help evacuate just call 1800storage. Paste this on your page let's get the word around guys

Hope all you guys are safe and well up there, thoughts are with all Queenslanders at the moment.

Some more snaps I took this morning, up around North Pine Dam.

Clark St was closed, and covered in debris.

The asphalt was that sodden it moved under foot like loose gravel.

The trees give a fair idea of the power of the torrent that thundered down the North Pine River yesterday.

All 4 gates on the spillway are still open and the river still well up on its normal level.

Have come to rescue of my neighbour. Have been extremely luck now. However, my neighbour has just lost power. Only my side of the road has electricity at the moment. This could be nervous.

I'd say prepare for harder days to come. The water can swell up, but our souls can't be broken. Not now, not ever......

Stay strong guys, you don't walk alone!

Must say, I have been very impressed with Anna Bligh and her leadership in all of this..Has seemed to be in total control of everything and knows exactly what is happening where..

Maybe a few lessons were learnt from our fire disaster, and the lack of leadership and blame game that went with it..

She is Peter Beattie's protege. You are always going to get a slick media performance.

I agree, 3AW were comending her leadership earlier and contrasting it with the fact that Brumby and the Chief of Police were nowhere to be seen for days when the bush fires broke out in Vic a couple of years ago. Can't say I was ever a fan of Bligh, but have certainly developed a new found respect for the way she has presented and carried herself in such a crisis.

Sky News shouldn't be showing that footage of the two horses.

That is too disturbing for most viewers, especially children.

I feel sick after seeing that.

What was that footage? Horses being swept away?

Yeah, struggling to keep their heads above water, and then gone.

Absolutely heartwrenching. Still feel sick when I think about it. Poor, poor things.

I couldn't give a rats about politics, but I reckon the girl is doing a phenomenal job.

I honestly take my hat off to her, because she's doing what needs to be done and she's doing it with dignity and composure... Plus she's come out with a couple of quotes that I'll never forget.

Stay safe Brisbane. Hope to see you all well tomorrow.
