A genuine question... did anyone else here in Hawkland feel a bit sickened by David Hale's treatment of his daughter at the start of the game last weekend? It has bothered me ever since I saw it.. She was so excited when she saw him coming up the race she was bouncing up and down and he just walked up to her unsmilingly and took her and without even saying anything... that was my first surprise... Then he let go of her and left her on the other side of the banner and kept going for 10m without even looking back for her. She was left lost and panicking until Sam Mitchell had top pick her up and bring her to him!! FFS seriously, as a father of a young daughter it made me sick to see him treat her like that.. what?? who does that? There is NO excuse for this.. it was one of the sh@tiest things I've ever seen in the AFL and frankly says everything about David Hale as far as I'm concerned.

No. You are reading too much into it. Maybe she said she didn't want to go any further or something. He was already carrying his other daughter which would have been his main priority considering she is a lot smaller.

you are reading to much into it , he had his other daughter in his arms and would have thought she would follow him through it as he had to make sure other did not fall out of his arms while going through the banner and was surprised that she had not going by the look on his face when Mitch came up behind him with the other one

I heard he went and bashed a janitor after the game to celebrate, that's how shit a bloke he is.

Seriously though, reading into things a bit much there.

I want your life if that's what's been on your mind for the last week

I suppose if you don't know him personally then you are really not in a position to pass judgement on someone's character. When you consider her initial reaction to seeing him, the indicators are all there that she loves her dad and that they obviously have a good relationship rather than the monster you are trying to make him out to be

Sickened?? You base your opinions of a man on an incident like this which is hardly a bad incident. The moment and everything that was happening around him made him forget for what 5 seconds where his other daughter was. Soon as he realised she wasn't beside him he went looking behind and saw that Sammy had her and went straight back for her. What an overreaction this post is.

Futhermore by your logic, i say your post says everything about you as far as I'm concerned.

FWIW, Hale is one of the nicest unassuming quality people within the HFC walls.

.

What Hawkas said. Load of bollocks to say it says everything about David Hale. Get a life.

Also, Hale's daughter apparently supports Collingwood.

Now that's child abuse!

Notice Shane Savage, and Billy Longer dropped by the Saints this week. Guess we did alright getting Big Boy, instead of having those two on our list. Must admit, I was a fan of Savage's but looks like he needed quality around him; He hasn't got much of that at St Kilda.
He hasn't got much continuity either which is what he really needed with us. He's been in, out and sub with the Saints just like he was here. But at least here he was always a shot at playing in finals. It's just unfortunate for Sav that guys like Billings, Dunstan and Templeton have come on so quickly before he's had a chance to cement a spot. Now he's got to hope Montagna and Hayes retire soon.

Yeah Savage has surprised me with how ordinary he has looked for them.

I remember when he came onto the scene for us he was a good sub. Since 2011 he has hardly ever had an impact as a sub.

Worrying signs for him with where St.Kilda's list is at. He couldn't have gone to a better club besides maybe Melbourne or Brisbane for chances for regular full games and he still can't manage them. Hope he turns it around.

he never got to string games together so you cant really judge what he would be like unless he got that chance at hawks which he sadly did not look at cheney he had same problem for a little while too now he has had a few in a row his confidence is up and he is getting better and better

Sav never seemed to recover after that huge bump late in the year (was it his first year?) when he ended up with a shoulder injury.

He wasn't ever the same player after that.
i think he had lost confidence due to that last game or so for us i thought he had got it back , he will be ok for them if he can sting games together rather then be in and out all the time

I posted the following on the AFL board last night, and it was promptly removed. Now I know the timing is poor (opening myself up to "sour grapes") but is this in any way defamatory (enough to be removed)? I read worse daily:

Geelong fans showing their sense of entitlement yet again. And hawthorn fans get shit for being cocky - go figure...

Anyway, was watching the game at the ground tonight and something that I had been wondering for a while was reinforced, so I'll ask the question here: Is the Geelong side as a whole coached to play for frees?

Now now, before I get howled down - hear me out. I'm not suggesting the umpiring necessarily influenced the result tonight - Cats clearly outplayed the Hawks in tonight's encounter - but it's something I find frustrating, and no other side is as blatant in their obsession with trying to influence the adjudication of games. It affects the spectacle and doesn't just happen in hawthorn games.

The amount of times you see their players (particularly Selwood and Johnson to name but two) query, and even remonstrate, with the umpires for frees has become a common sight.
Selwood does his shoulder shrug so regularly that it is little wonder he leads the comp handsomely for frees for (this has been cleared, and even commended, by the governing body - so good luck to him). I'm aware he's not Robinson Crusoe in that, but he certainly is the best.
The one that really stood out to me tonight though (although not for the first time) is the amount of times Cats player stop in play when they think a free should be paid. As juniors we were always told to play to the whistle (play on until told otherwise), however Geelong seem to stop and look to the ump for clarification - almost trying to fool the umpire into thinking an infringement occurred.. And it often works.

Now I know this'll come off as sour-grapes (not that I give a crap what you think - '13 prelim, bitches), but I ask the question again: is it a coach's directive to the cats players to play for frees?

Is it a concern that not a single Hawks player is in the top 50 in the AFL for tackles? (Burgers and Poppy are equal 51st) Or, is this more a reflection of our successful (until last Monday) 'keepings-off' style of play which dictates that we draw more tackles than we are required to make?

I don't know if it's a concern. You can certainly pressure an opponent into turning over the ball without actually applying a tackle, which might in fact be a directive from the coaching team as it can cause a turn over without taking the tackler out of the play.
There was 61-59 (we were 59) tackles against the Cats on Monday. Pretty even and we had 27 more disposals for the game.

I don't know if it's still the case, but Hawthorn were last for tackles in the competition going into the Gold Coast game. One logical conclusion could be that we own so much of the ball that we don't need to tackle.

I have a question. Bumps you can not play.
Neroli?
Jessica?
Megan?
Alanah?
Melanie?
Sarah?
Tara?
Lara?
Though normally a brunette man i'm going for Jessica. She has big things in front of her that girl. Hubba Hubba.
