Nah..that's partly why we lost today, when the game was on the line and we still playing to make finalsAgreed but, well, that's kind of not the point though. Aish did a decent (some would say they were "whelmed") job but we wouldn't have been too far worse off with Erasmus and would've given him valuable experience. Subbing Fyfe off for him because Fyfe is a candidate for a rest and Aish was...ok, was a forced error on our part.
Happily agree to disagreeNah..that's partly why we lost today, when the game was on the line and we still playing to make finals
Banfield didn't play. This really is where selection of Banfields and Aish's in todays experience genuinely knocks on in to causing a truly damaging miscalculation due to a conservative approach to bigger bodies. It's a subtle and hidden mistake that can usually be argued one way or the other as not being of any great consequence until a game like today where it has an undeniable powerful negative impact.
Banfield was more used as an example of the style of selection. Aish is the query. Had a decent game but not really the selection you'd make if you're trying to give Erasmus minutes. Either crap (put Erasmus in for Aish/Banfield/Danyle Pearce) or get off the pot (play him at Peel and give the spot to a runner who can make a difference with fresh legs in the last)Banfield didn't play.
Not his fault.
Our forwards were garbage in the 2nd half.Fyfe is half the player he used to be but still easily best 22, that kick into the forward line that resulted in a 12 point turn around was brik through the tv stuff though.
Yeah but the entriesOur forwards were garbage in the 2nd half.
In the 3rd quarter they managed a single goal from 14 entries.
fmd
I suppose if every kick doesn't come in with Mundy's silver platter on it we just throw our hands up as usual.Yeah but the entries
That's gotta be tongue in cheek.Subbing Fyfe out was the turning point in this match.
Having Fyfe on the bench and Johnson and Erasmus in the centre at that stage of the game was a bad call.
People still don't respect the influence of Fyfe's presence in such situations, even when he is down on form.
Although, overall our mids are below par with kicking into fwd 50 even under minimal pressure. O'Meara be best but he shanks it's sometimes tooI suppose if every kick doesn't come in with Mundy's silver platter on it we just throw our hands up as usual.
sigh
I wonder what other teams blame for forwards who can't compete for 4 quarters?
Actually agree. Serong and JOM particularly. Johnson in time will be an elite distributor, just needs match fitness.Although, overall our mids are below par with kicking into fwd 50 even under minimal pressure. O'Meara be best but he shanks it's sometimes too
ahhh ok - I thought you were being nice to Banfield lolNormally the Banfields and Aish selections can be argued as "who cares, didn't really impact anything". Today is the day when they did actually hurt us trying to get Erasmus into the game (for Fyfe) because we weren't brave enough to leave Aish out for him.
