Autopsy Hecking Heck - Walyalup defeat Euro-Yroke by 12 Scoring Shots at Marvel

So, rewatching the game a few times (to my great chagrin), I can’t help but appreciate the workmanlike effort of the whole team. We’re getting really tough on the inside, defending with dare and creating heaps of chances (that admittedly we’re fluffing), but chances all the same.

But yeah, loving the tough edge we seem to be creating.

After the last couple of weeks the thought occurred to me that if a Freo player had shot John Lennon, he would be 84 years old in October.🤦🏻‍♂️
The bullet would have missed, but somehow have set off the cold war and we'd be in a nuclear apocalypse.

Frustrating watch but a wins a win.

Treacy - Best field kick in the team after Young, beast and should be top 5 in the B&F.

Young - Just fricken love what he brings, he's our point of difference.

Fyfe - Last few weeks getting caught holding the ball multiple times each match. He can't bust a tackle like he used to, needs to realise that.

JOM - Despite the goals, not sure what he brings to the team. Say it every week.

Pearce/Ryan/Clark - Guns and all having AA years.

I think we're a team in that 6-10 region. Another year of development for Amiss and Treacy and trade/draft period we need to find a gun small forward.
I got a theory on Fyfe I think his game is to now take the tackle on. Draw 2 or 3 to the tackle and then feed off to those in space.
The downside is the holding the ball risk. Very much a risk v reward

More worried about the 6 for Treacy, didn’t kick goals but had a massive impact on the game.
6 isn't necessarily a bad rating..but then if she gave Treacy 6 and Walters 6 she thinks they kind of had same impact , which I think most would disagree with

Personally would have Sonny 4 and Treacy I think 6 or 7

If you are getting praised for a post game interview... which was nothing special. It tells me there wasn't much to say about his game. He was a 3-4 for the game.

Treacy was a 7 easily.

I am surprised by the 6 for Brandon Walker. I thought he was quite good.
He was great. If we can push him up to a wing to replace JOM, and bring in a Wagner/Worner into the back half.

Walker is a significantly better defender than all the other smalls. He needs to stay back.

As his confidence grows we'll get more and more offensively from him too.

Ok, so I watched the replay… was at work for the game

Honestly, I think there’s a lot to like:

- Intent and attack through the corridor. Excellent running patterns.

- Serong’s field kicking was excellent. Pulled off some really difficult ones 😍

- Treacy’s intent, great defence, and delivery inside 50. So good! And that snap which looked like it was going 45 degrees off and then banana’d around through the big sticks.. 🤩 GREAT player pick.

- JOM finding his radar at the right time. Needs a confidence boost in front of the sticks; hopefully this provides it.

- The defence - Chapman’s precision and composure, Pearce doing his usual, Clarke’s run and endeavour

- Jackson’s quick hands and run

- Fyfe had a number of hard ball gets, still knows how to get and give it and in the thick of things right until the end. Great to see him with enough fitness to run it out.

- Amiss getting a lot of it. Coming back into form IMO; when he’s in form, 2.5 will be 5.2 on those shots. We know he can kick.

- Switta’s not in form but that smother late in the game needed perfect timing and hopefully shows he’s running back into form.

This team can kick. Fingers crossed they remember that!!

Ok, having slept on it..... still a game to forget forever but there were positives.

Josh Treacy continues to shine - couldn't fit him in my top 5 but what he does, he does cleanly and effectively. Love him.

So good to have Clark and Sharp in the team. We cop a lot of s**t about trades but these two have been fantastic for us.

I'm not unhappy having a 1st rounder and Simpson on the list either. Schultz would be important for us, but that's a good value trade.

I think I need to clarify this.

I wasn’t questioning why we traded for Jackson, I’m questioning why would you continue to play him as the main ruck every time Darcy is injured.

Very very expensive ruck. Surely he was recruited for what he was bringing in the forward line and supporting with runs through the ruck or on ball.

I would rather play fence post in the ruck and maintain the best forward line structure which was Jackson and Treacy it forgetting we have also now disrupted and changed Treacy role. So two changes for one positional need.

Anyway, time will tell. It’s just my opinion.
Jackson playing at stoppages was a major reason we won.

I think the best use of Jackson is similar to the likes of Blicavs, Cameron, Goodes, Koutafides.

He's different from all those players but he will be very difficult to combat in the thick of the contest. Just as they are/were.

Amiss, Treacy and Voss are a very good tall forward combo, and rotating Jackson and Treacy as second rucks, or just having Jackson run forward will be a nightmare for defences.
