You guys should just be happy you didn't see the Brent Stanton push in the back against the Bulldogs. He tackled a Bulldog player front-on, the Bulldog player rolled onto his stomach to protect the ball, Stanton held the ball in, and about 3 seconds later the umpire randomly decided it was a push in the back. At least Wingard actually moved to initiate his so-called push in the back. I would've thought that some sort of movement was a necessary part of push.

Bit off topic but it reminds me of a basketball game I was playing in, where I was defending and got a hand on a pass which deflected it right into the gob of the ref. I was called for a foul, despite being at least one metre from any opponent.

The ref had every right to call you foul names. :p

Hartlett - Did his bi-weekly disappearing act. 2 disposals 2nd quarter. 1 in the 3rd. Not near good enough. Doesnt work near hard enough. Absolute tradebait.

Macca I always read your comments on Hartlett and Carlile in particular with a bit of extra interest.

I have come to the conclusion that Hartlett is a top 100 player - look up all the rankings and stats sites, but we desperately want him to be a top 10 player, but he may never achieve such heights. I wouldn't trade him away because he will be a decent player over the whole season, but he will frustrate us with some poor performances in critical games. Players usually take the next step between 50 and 100 games played mark. Now with 60 games under his belt and his body seems able to cope with AFL footy, his next 2 and a bit seasons, we will find out if Hammer is good enough to become elite.

Interesting graphic in yesterday's 'Tsier ( I have added super coach points)

I reckon Hinkley gives a good answer about Hammer, about his game on Saturday, how he has to get better, what he has to do, and how other elite mids have gone from being inconsistent to week in week out the same performance. See between 8:55 and 10:05

I really don't think Hartlett's game was that bad. His first quarter was dynamite, and then he had a poor second quarter. After that, it seemed like he was moved to a more defensive role, did a lot of good small things. Maybe it's my approach that this year is a development year and these things aren't worrying, frustrating or upsetting me yet.

I think the frustration with hartlett is his good and bad are daylight apart.. his good doesnt occur as much as his bad...and you can get both good and bad hamish at any stage at any point of the game....

For a laugh you should take a look on the Hawthorn board, thread titled : A FEW POINTS ABOUT PORT ADELAIDE
Yeah that thread is comedy gold. There isn't a supporter base around that is going to cop it as hard as the Hawthorn supporters will when they fall back down the bottom of the ladder. But I guess most of them will disappear then.

Yes, what goes around comes around, they better hope they don't meet Geelong in the GF.

That sounds like the team as a whole. Since our 5 game losing streak our good to bad ratio across and within games has improved, but is still far from top 4 or premiership material. The plus side is when we do click we can take it up to any team, even the Hawks (2nd quarter). Another pre-season and a few more games into them and I expect next year we'll have less of the across and within game fluctuations. Then we'll really have teams worrying about playing us.

Biggest bunch of fairweather supporters port fans are only turn up when there winning, rather embarrassing.

This was my favourite.

Almost merged with Melbourne as the junior partner not 5 years after a period in which they won 5 flags from 8 grand finals and then there's that game in 2004 when they could only manage a GWS-crowd of 11682 to watch us cruise to a 9 goal win over them at the MCG.

Had Clarkson, Roughead, Franklin and Lewis fall into their laps after that pathetic season and now paint themselves as an all-conquering centre of excellence.

Humorous.

Wingard is always having a spew.
Young bodies being pushed to their limits tend to do that.

especially when they spend the first quarter copping elbows and punches to the guts from Lewis + Hodge. but yea he always enjoys a good spew. great to see he regularly pushes himself to that point, could do with a few others doing the same.

FFS they are the biggest bandwagoners of all time

The wheel will turn, as it always does in the AFL, and the Dawks supporters that remain after their inevitable fall from grace will cop it harder than any supporter base in living memory. I know I will certainly be giving them a smug wave on their way back down to the bottom.

I remember watching many Hawthorn games back around 2004 where they would be lucky to get 14-15,000. When they hit the heights in later years I hoped that those same 14-15,000 loyal supporters were still there to enjoy it rather than the 40,000 bandwagoners.

Couldn't believe some of the vitriol toward Port in that thread, the last time I looked they won the match convincingly and we didn't inflict any career threatening injuries on their players. I guess, though, that it is our fault that Burgoyne will miss a couple of games after Logan leapt up and headbutted him in the shoulder.
