Ben Hart at his finest. The guy is delusional.

"You can't just bring youth in just to make our team younger, they have got to be ready to play and play to the level that we require," Hart said.

He insisted the Crows could rapidly turn around their fortunes in the run to the finals.

"We're sitting eighth," Hart said.

So lets play old players that cant play at the level :drunk:

Like with Tim Kelly, teams have given us a clear blueprint on how to slow them down, we will ignore it completely.
If we do they should be sacked and start with a fresh coaching team.

Cripps looks banged up, I wonder if he will play. I would then tag Walsh with Knight. They lose their 2 prime mids. Of course we won’t.

Did anyone see the tackling stats from on the couch on fox for our fwd line? Wow, no wonder they scored so much from the back half. Only Knight 1 and Betts 1 laid a tackle. Tex Lynch Murphy Jenkins 0. How does a player like Murphy not lay 1 tackle? Our fwd mix is shot.
What is Murphy actually in the team for?. I genuinely can’t work out his role. He plays to far up the ground to be threatening. He seems to try hard but I just don’t understand what the coaches are wanting him to do.

Merrett with a perfect 10.

Follows a perfect 10 for Robbie Gray and 9 for Tim Kelly.

Lazy, front running, unaccountable midfield + brain dead coaching staff = opposition midfielders running riot
It’s mind blowing isn’t it. This stat needs to be hammered at Pyke.

They showed the drop off for Kelly after the bye, why? 3 of the teams have tagged him. We didn’t and he had a big game and killed us.

I’ve been saying it for years, if you don’t have the best midfield the best thing you can do is take out the oppositions best mid. It’s so bloody obvious.

ITS NOT HARD YOU ****ING IDIOTS, THE RESULTS ARE THERE FOR YOU TO SEE, PLAY A TAGGER.

You would think they would train for Tex on a lead a hundred times over, it should become second nature to look for him. Our forward 50 entries have been s**t for two years, why hasn’t someone addressed this???

Two years?

I would have said fifteen

Pyke knows best, apparently.

O'Brien will be challenging for AA honours if he maintains this rate of improvement, his ruck work is very good but the rest of his game is becoming very well rounded.

I thought you guys were wasting him in the 2s, looks like you have managed his development beautifully

We were very lucky that Sauce picked up a 5+ game injury. ROB would have not been seen otherwise or sent back after only a couple as Sauce hobbled back.

Boy am I glad we had Brad Crouch in the middle 18 times for 1 center clearance. Super effective stuff.

(Although we did monster the clearances overall I guess)
Yeah when your ruckman is the leading clearance player and your supposed outside mid is #2, it's saying a fair bit about Brad and Sloane.

It's simplistic rubbish to blame forward 50 pressure. Plus their stats were wrong. Murphy got 1 tackle.

Riddle me this: during the third quarter (when the game changed), we had 5 forward 50 entries. How is f50 pressure the problem? During that same period, our two premier midfielders had 1 clearance and 2 contested possessions between them.

Our tackles inside 50 stat needs closer inspection. We only had 3 till half time and were dominating. We had a further 3 in each of the third and last quarters.

Our F50 pressure wasn't great, but it was our slack midfield that lost us the game in the third.

Commiserations on the loss.

Here are the midfield frequency stats from the game. If you haven't seen a previous post, this is an overall summary of how often your players were lining up as one of the 5 mids at bounces.

Overall Summary - 29 Bounces

Atkins 27 (22w, 5i)
Seedsman 24 wing
Sloane 21
B.Crouch 18
M.Crouch 18
Milera 13 (8w, 5i)
Greenwood 11
Smith 11 (7i, 4w)
Knight 2

Rucks:
O'Brien 27
Jenkins 2

Centre Clearances (as per Champion Data/AFL.com.au
Sloane 7
M.Crouch 3
Greenwood 3
O'Brien 1
B.Crouch 1
Smith 1
Atkins 1

First Half - 14

Seedsman 14 wing
Atkins 13 (9w, 4i)
B.Crouch 11
Sloane 10
M.Crouch 8
Greenwood 5
Smith 5 (3w, 2i)
Milera 4 (2w, 2i)

O'Brien 14

Final Term - 9

Atkins 8 (7w, 1i)
Milera 8 (5w, 3i)
Sloane 7
Seedsman 6 wing
B.Crouch 5
M.Crouch 5
Smith 3
Knight 2
Greenwood 1

O'Brien 9

Notes:
- Whilst there were only 4 less bounces than last week, Milera's role was greatly reduced attending 8 less bounces (with 6 less inside starts).

EDIT: Didn't realise Smith was in Douglas's guernsey in the first half.
Piss poor from both the Crouch brothers. 36 center bounces between them for 4 clearances

Absolutely. That one doesn’t count for the coaches. They only tried him because they were forced. He has made such an impact that it’s impossible to ignore that he would have been a better option in 2018 as well if we had any guts to drop coaches pets.

Absolutely. These would have to be the two biggest criminal decisions by the Crows this year. Not following the Port blueprint in beating Geelong and tagging Kelly, and completely screwing the gameplan in stopping Essendon's run from their backline. Not keeping Stengle in there was a shocker

Some of M Crouch’s stats are mind blowing. Of his 33 possessions, a whopping 26 were uncontested. Yet he clocked a paltry 242 metres gained.

What the hell was he doing? Handpassing in circles!!!!

I can't be bothered searching but I wonder how this compares to 2017, or was he more effective then simply because the receiver of his disposals was then released into a better attacking structure whereas now the receiver of his handballs is still in a crap position and we have no decent set up forward of the ball?

We were debating that very point at work yesterday.

It seems Matt has a habit of hand balling to other players in close proximity, instead of kicking, then that player will handball it right back to him. This is supported by his 22 handballs from Fridays game. I would also like to mention, he only made 2 tackles...

The problem is, is that Matt often hand balls it to another guy under immense pressure and the other player will, inevitably, fluff that possession because of that pressure.

Hard to know. He’s definitely flatlined since 2017 though
