R24: relevance to finals?

it may be an irrelevant game but if the pies werent trying then thats just stupid. its a ludicrous idea to allow a team to smash you completely and gain the confidence that they can beat you, particularly when that team has already beaten you and is the only one to have done so.

wasnt it a bit obvious would swan hand balled it to wellingham when he was on the ground that we didnt care just a bit obvious

I think Collingwood have played this very well. They have let Geelong take a convincing defeat against them, Geelong will come into the finals against Collingwood very confident and find a very different team waiting for them. Well played Collingwood.

Very happy with the win, i think it was important for us to come out and play some very good footy against the Pies seeing as our last month hadn't been that good. The Pies though are better than that and i think they'll comfortably take care of the Eagles next week.

I take it your team is going for an even more ingenious long term plan, convincing everyone that you will go out in finals in straight sets or possible crawling into a prelim before crashing and then BAM in the year 4509 you pull the trigger and not one single person will see it coming.

My best mate follows the pies, which basically means I've seen a lot of Collingwood both on TV and in the flesh. Take it from a neutral, Collingwood(the players) went at about 60% tonight. I lost count how many times I saw pies players run along side Cats players running with the ball when normally the pies players would apply pressure to make the cats players rush their disposals. Collingwood players literally went through the motions tonight. Sorry cats fans.

It's a little hard to get a bead on the Pies - this was not the Collingwood we've come to expect, we waltzed through their press all night long. I have to think they'll come out (if we meet again, nothing is guaranteed) with far more intensity next time.

However, the confidence we've accrued and the form that some of our down players (Chapman, to some extent Selwood, Menzel and Mackie) have enjoyed will surely set us in good stead.

Geelong will be hard to beat this year. Look like they have hunger back.

A serious question, do you honestly think Collingwood had a real crack at it and Geelong were just that good?
I think it's about time some people wake up to what 2011 is all about. Round 24 like the last 5-10 rounds for the top teams means nothing at all.

Collingwood will still win the flag, went out there for nothing more than a jog tonight.

These posts are going to look so stupid next week and in 3 weeks or 4 if they play Geelong again (prelim/gf). I expect a 130 point turnaround.

love the coments tonite ,bottom line when one team (collingwood) are playing at 60% and the other team (geelong) are playing at 100% you know who is going to win .

PS i cleaned up tonite 100 dollars on 75 plus points and the winner is ME

I think this game is much more relevant to Geelong's finals campaign than Collingwood's. Lots of confidence gained for the Cats both as a team and for some individual players. The game next week against the Hawks is gonna be an absolute cracker.
