Lonie is a ****** gun! i love how he spots people up in the f50 with his little around his body chips, beautifully disguised. Our midfield will be a dream to watch in a few years, got some real grunt behind it. Lukey D(unstan) is having a ripper too!

Well that was a lot more like it. We obviously got our start time wrong and thought it was a 1.45pm start!

Seriously though, we did exactly the same thing last week as well (conceded 7 goals in the first quarter then came barnstorming back with lots of goals in the 2nd, only to go down by 40+), so the job is only half done.

Would be nice if Josh Bruce held a mark, but we did terrifically at ground level in the forward 50 that quarter and our tackling pressure was finally back. Plenty more of that please!

spot on with Brucey. couple of times that quarter he could have marked and had very gettable shot on goal. just not sticking for him today. though happy for him to have a quiet one if other guys are going to pick up the slack!

Jack Billings is going to take a screamer before long. Almost took a monster pack mark late in that half and tries to take one pretty much every week.

Jack Lonie is one of the most exciting signings we've ever had, his pressure is immense. I didn't take my eyes off him when he was chasing those 2 Brisbane players down, you just knew he was going to get the ball.

Weller going to Rich has been an important move. Lonie, Newnes, Dunstan really worked their way into the game in that quarter. Bruce in all the right positions and is not far off kicking a few IMO.

Martin is a beast around the ground but we need to try and limit him a bit.

Winning clearances now, so working well in there but we need to run with him.

Longer - 1 handball, 18 hit outs, 1 clearance

Martin - 8 kicks, 7 handballs, 1 mark 14 hit outs, 5 clearances

Hickey - 2 kicks, 5 handballs, 2 marks, 3 hit outs

Leunberger - 3 kicks, 5 handballs, 2 marks, 7 hit outs


Hickey and Leunberger going at similar levels but Martin getting way too much ball.

Whoever said Dempster is no good anymore literally has no idea. You see when we out a bit of pressure on the ball, it's a bit easier for our defence?

Fantastic quarter and it started with the basics. We attacked the ball and man with passion and effort. Great forward pressure lead to a couple of goals and we ran from then. Agree with most that we can't afford not to switch on from the start but it's a great improvement that we are making these comebacks.

Dunstan is massive, like lenny did he does things that go unnoticed but add up to a VERY BIG whole. Inside work a massive improvement but need to make this our trademark. Would not mind a seb ross in there if we can continue to develop acres as that insid/outside midfielder. On that, how good is acres. Needs to polish up his usage and lower his eyes but can find the football.

Lonie is exciting, he and billings gives us class on half forward which is very important when the big forwards are not clunking the marks.
Really impressed with the work below his knees by hickey, when he does not mark it he is able to keep the ball in his area. Will clunk more and more as he gets form and fitness.

Down back the match ups were a little out but re re-adjusted by the end of the first. Newnes was a catalyst for the lift and his intercept marks show that the wing is as far forward that he should go.

Lots of exciting football in that second quarter and if the forwards can clunk a few it should be over by three quarter time. Will not be surprised if longer is subbed in the third, is tiring and might need a rest soon.

Yeah good signs that we scored well that quarter without the 2015 Coleman Medallist having an impact.

If he can get into the game we could give Brisbane a mauling.
