Rate my SuperCoach team 2012 (Part II)

@cammo84. I like your forward line. Good mix of players that will score high and players that have the potential to score high. Rucks this year are the easiest to pick and it looks like most knowledgeable SC coaches are going with the premo ruck/kreuzer:Giles, Stephenson combo. Mumford or Cox, toss of a coin. My questions for your team would be in the backline. Smedts, everyone had read/watched/heard the hype. Watched the post game interview on AFL.com and Scott said "He's a LONG way of our best 22". Now that says to me that they probably wont give him a go until they need to rest or fill and injured players spot. Which could be early, or not. As far as cash cows go, you want to get it pretty spot on. I think there are better options out there. Marty Clarke, hmm. Certainly could be in Collingwoods best 22. Already had a niggley injury. Want to see him play 1 or more NAB games before I punt on him.

I've only played around with this team about 279 times, but I am addicted to supercoach. Everyone has their vices.

Get rid of Stratton, Hargrave and move Lids back and pick up rookie mid - plenty of good GWS back rookies to look at.
Be cautious with lake, first hint he hasn't found it again I'd dump him for another rookie meaning you can get premium midfielder to match the rookie you use to replace Lids

I think I've made a change on my team every day since I signed up about 10 days ago! It's exactly why you can't sign up the day before the season starts. The season for us supercoachers has already begun!

You've chosen one I assume as a smoky, but Maric is a very, very strange choice. Consider that one carefully as the season gets closer. Is Maric realistically going to average 80+? Can Giles or Stephensen get the 70 that Maric averaged in his 2011 games? Big potential there to free up money to hold onto for now, or upgrade someone else to a premium.

Your backline looks ok. No Deledio or Shaw or even Enright, but I guess you preferred Broughton and Adcock which could certainly still work.
Everyone has Lake and Clarke, so that's fine.

Midfield has a distinct lack of Ablett, other than that, you look pretty loaded in that area.

Rucks look good, exactly the same as what I have at the moment.

Forwards, now here's your problem line.
First 3 are great no doubt, but it ends there.
Porplyzia is just a ticking time bomb, he just can't take a trick. He might give you some good scores, but a huge risk. From there you have another 3 rookies on the field, which is at least 1 too many.

You have to find a way to get another good forward in your side, so maybe try playing around with your mids, and think about using Lenny despite the concerns over his knee.

In the nicest possible way, that is one of the worst backlines I've seen posted.

You have to spread your load and I think your midfield is too expensive, even though it obviously looks great.

And is Didak really worth the risk? He's over the hill for mine, but that's just my advice.

Yeah bit worried about my forwards, thought midfielders then defenders get better averages than forwards but definitely lacking.

Might try and get Dawson in backline, fiddle with midfield to get another big forward Cheers!

So are you suggesting having one premium ruckman and 3 lower priced ones?

I'm happy to do that, but I've read that Maric should do well this year and be Richmonds #1 ruck choice.

Happy to upgrade Berger to say a Mumford/Cox and downgrade Maric to a lower priced ruck (anyone suggestions)?

That way, I should also be able to upgrade Goodes to Franklin.

^ You were the last one to post, so I'll give my thoughts. I agree with the previous posts regarding your backline, I'd leave Goddard and start over, you have far too many risky mid pricers who aren't guaranteed to step up. I'm under the impression Zorko is injured and I'll echo the last persons thoughts, Didak is a HUGE risk. Also, just noticed you have 2 Richmond rookies on the bench, if they remain until the bye and you cop an injury or two you'll be in the deep end.

Currently can't decide between Scotland + Selwood + Coniglio or Hanley + Pendles + Lucas, which combination looks better?

Surprised no one has replied to this team. Personally, I think it's fantastic! Grimes in defence is a risk (see the herald sun site today - I think there's an article about him injuring his shoulder at training.)
Also prefer others to K Stevens and S Gibson as rookies in the midfield, but that's just me.

Definitely go with Scotland, Selwood & Coniglio, because you get two premiums to keep for the whole year, and Selwood isn't so far off Pendlebury to make having the one keeper worth more than the two if that makes sense.

I know it's probably just the author's opinion, but it's a common-held opinion, especially on the Richmond Board. With Newman, Houli, Batchelor, Grimes and probably Dea all small defenders ahead of both Ellis and Morris, it's hard to see both getting a game in the early parts of the season. I'd be surprised if Morris was the one chosen ahead of Ellis.
