Yeah.. i would start fresh.

Your backs are way too weak... too heavy in the mid... and forwards have too many overpricers (imo)

Thanks in advance :D

Mids: Ablett, Dal Santo, Swallow, Barlow, Coniglio, Docherty (Zorko, Mitchell)

Rucks: Mumford, McIntosh (Stephenson, Giles)

Forw: Fyfe, Chappy, Beams, Dangerfield, Brown, Treloar, Walsh (Saad, Smedts)

Ill be reviewing a few teams so please give feedback on mine.

Is Dal Santo Worth it? Will he have an awesome start like he had an awesome finish last year?

Love some feedback ..

Def : Goddard, Scotland, Deledio, H.Shaw, Marty Clarke, B.Ellis, Mohr (Smedts,Spurr)

Mid : G.Ablett (c), M.Murphy (vc), Hodge, Barlow, Zorko, J.Mcdonald (Shiel,S.Gibson)

Ruck : Mumford, S.Jacobs (J.Giles,O.Stephenson)

FWD : L.Franklin, P.Chapman, C.Rioli, D.Martin, Porplyzia, A.Saad, Treloar, (T.Walsh,Kerridge)

Now the rookies will obviously change according to the NAB but my main problem is between having Hodge/Barlow or i could have Swallow/Van Berlo as i have a extra 29,300 in the bank but that would leave me with no cash at all .. thoughts ?

Looks good. Strong everywhere apart from the ruck. Bit of a gamble having 3 rookies.
Tommy Walsh from syd should get a start in round 1 and do a pretty decent job in the forward line.

Here is mine

Backs: Goddard, Scotland, Suckling, Otten, Lake, Buntine, Clarke (Ellis, Wilkes)

Mids: Ablett, Priddis, hodge, Barlow, Coniglio, Docherty (Zorko, Mitchell)

Rucks: Mumford, West (Longer, Giles)

Rucks: Leunberger, McIntosh (Giles, Stephenson)

Fwds: Franklin, Fyfe, Martin, Sidebottom, Smedts, Cameron, Treloar (Elliot, Lynch)

$57,000 left

Thoughts???

rookies will obviously change after NAB cup, or injuries or any word on someone tearing up the pre season

Money in the bank??? I think you should have heaps but could be wrong.

Otten is too much for a guy you won't keep.

No Swan or pendles? Big call.

West. No.

Christensen best 8 fwds at end of year? Don't see it.

Back - premiums are good, quite alot like mine!
mids - solid midfield, watch hodges preseason form, burnt me last year.
rucks- im stuck on mcintosh too, hope he can dominate!
forwards - ive gone pav over fyfe, a fit freo will bring it down to him much better than last season, but thats up to you. unsure on sidebottom, but havent heard alot about him this preseason. (not that ive head heaps :D)

heres my dilemma, which teams looks stronger on the scoreboard?
(yes i know theres alot of rookies in the midfield in one. im planning on banking some good coin with them and ditching them before the byes.)

Looks pretty good, would be a bit worried about BOTH Grimes and Lake in the backline. They aren't exactly the safest of players. Good mix of premiums and mid-price players though.

Below is mine, any opinions would be very helpful.

My opinion on who to get rid of. Adcock(Could be worth keeping)

Will Hoskin Elliot(Wont have much of an impact in his first year)

Sandilands ( Steer clear maybe get Mumford or Leuy instead)

Crozier( Personally cant see him getting a lot of game time. Maybe Sam Rowe or Dayne Zorko)

Fairly good team. Make sure you keep an eye on rookies in the NAB Cup:thumbsu:

defence, i'm not too sure about Otten, maybe downgrade Lake depending on his NAB cup form and then upgrade Otten.
i like the midfield, good rookies and Barlow may prove to be a very good pickup.
Rucks are also strong with West set to be Geelongs number 1 ruckman.
Fowards are also solid, not too sure about Petrie, he can have some horrible games and some belters, very inconsistent, but may prove to be another good pickup.

Forwards are certainly unique. With all those dpp f/m in the forwards, maybe chuck another f/m rook in your mids. Swap in Zorko for Mitchell and replace him with T. Walsh. You may be thankful for the extra flexibility at some stage.

IMO, I'd have a compromise between teams 1 & 2. For example, Ablett, Murphy, Watson, Barlow, Wingard + Leuenberger & McEvoy.
That said, overall I'm pretty happy with your teams. Keep an eye on Spurr to see if he's elevated off the rookie list. I don't think Scotland will do as well as he did last year, especially relevant given his price. I doubt McDonald is going to play much. Not a fan of McIntosh at all...not worth it, even at his price. I do like the FWD line a lot. Just I'd be wary of Stevie-J, up and down and a big price this year and Saad may not score well.
All in all, good job though! :)

still worried about both grimes and lake, but will monitor their progress closely.

Any tips or suggestions for a first time SC player will be greatly appreciated, maybe too many rookies up forward... hopefully NAB cup will help shed some more light on it, Cheers guys!

Very good team. Quite similar to some of my previous drafts.
Don't like Hurn, Gaff or Kenneddy. Gaff is at an awkward price and I think a another rookie in the midfield such as Wingard would be better. Else splurging a bit more for Barlow, but the former would suit better structure-wise. I just can't see Gaff averaging better than 100ppg and that's not good enough even for a M6.
Hurn I believe is totally overrated. Kennedy IS overrated and also as a pure forward it is just naturally hard to rack up big points. Better off swapping Hurn to Heppell or Suckling and Kennedy to Riewoldt or Zaharakis.

I had a bit of play with my team and downgrading Wingard gave me a great ruck upgrade option leading to the later draft...
SALARY CAP: $0 (yes, exactly $0)
DEF: B. Goddard, B. Deledio, H. Shaw, D. Heppell, M. Buntine, M. Clarke, B. Ellis (L. Brown, B. Wilkes)
MID: G. Ablett jnr, J. Selwood, J. Watson, M. Barlow, D. Shiel, T. Mitchell (E. Kavanagh, S. Kerridge)
RUC: S. Mumford, M. Leuenberger (J. Giles, O. Stephenson)
FWD: L. Franklin, D. Martin, D. Zaharakis, N. Riewoldt, S. Sidebottom, T. Walsh, D. Zorko (B. Smedts, A. Treloar)

Here's my team. On the bench up front, I was tossing up between Tommy Walsh and Shane Kersten. Went with Walsh, good idea?

Just a first draft, and this is my first year of SC (normally a DT'r), so would really value any advice. Only $400 left in the cap afterwards.

B: Deledio (RICH), Hanley (BRIS), McKernan (ADEL), Bartram (MEL), Glass (WC), Connors (RICH), Dawson (FREO) - Subs: Bower (CAR), Wilkes (STK)

M: Ablett [captain] (GC), Swan [vice captain] (COLL), McGinnity (WC), Rich (BRIS), Swallow (GC), Hill (FREO) - Subs: Bartlett (BRIS), Shiel (GWS)

R: Mumford (SYD), Smith (GC) - Subs: Longer (BRIS), Stephensen (GEE)

F: Franklin (HAW), Martin (RICH), Christensen (GEE), Mayne (FREO), Fasolo (COLL), Day (GC), Zorko (BRIS) - Subs: Folau (GWS), Walsh (SYD)

Not an expert but at this stage I would expect Walsh to be the more sensible selection but everything changes with rookies after NAB. It's better to have a plan in place that leaves you the ability to maneuver rookies around so if anyone dominates it's a quick and easy swap. As for the rest of the starting team there's too many mid pricers for my liking. Many of the guys you have selected will probably perform adequately and stay around their starting price, particularly your mids where you should be concentrating on getting the best 6 scorers possible. Better to have a balance of elites that will be among the top 5 for their position and cheap rookies to upgrade to someone you can't fit in or a player who emerges as an elite.
