Good to see Harwood given another chance as reports from last weeks Reserves suggested he was a major part of getting them over the line in the last half. I think his problem stems from looking like he's not running hard enough (trying) and maybe his laconic style works against him. I hope like hell that he isn't given another tagging role as it's really not his go and he needs to be able to create and link up by finding space and running. The more times he gets it the more hurt he can inflict on the Pies and if weather reports are accurate, he excels at ground level in affected going.

So we are relying on Michael and Paparone to kick a winning score when Lisle and Cornelius are available.

On paper, that is the worst forward line I have ever seen selected to play for the Lions.

ZZZZZOOOOOOORRRRRRRRRRRRKKKKKKOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!

And Bewick will kick all the goals. :)

I think green being omitted is probably partly down to his lack of continuity of game time recently with being the sub and his time as designated emergency. Probably needs a full game in the reserves at this point.

We have been lucky copping Essendon the week of their ASADA interviews and now Collingwood on top of events over the last 48 hours.
This quote:

"Magpies defender Harry O'Brien was strongly critical of McGuire's remarks, with Buckley pledging to remain in close contact with his star to ensure he was in the right frame of mind to take on the Lions."

Suggests that there are genuine concerns down Collingwood with the Club also monitoring the mindset of Krakouer. Despite us being undermanned it seems to be leveling the playing field somewhat!!

I could see a forward line of Michael/Paparone/Staker as the bigs with McGrath/Bewick as leading targets and Zorko as the crumber working well in theory. Should be very interesting to watch regardless.

I'm assuming we back Patfull in and let Clarke play on Lynch/Jolly, but they'll hopefully change matchups if we are getting trashed by a particular player.

And I'm not too worried about the wet, Harwood/Crisp are excellent inclusions in that regard and I think Karnezis's link-up play to the forward line could be very important if it buckets down.

We'll be lucky to get half a dozen goals out of Bewick and Zorko.

Considering Michael and Paparone have been named ahead of Cornelius and Lisle, what are their respective biggest haul of goals in the reserves?

Obviously Cornelius and Lisle are proven goal-kickers capable of kicking bags, I'm just trying to work out the rational as to how Michael and Paparone have 'won out', so to speak and on what basis the match committee thinks we can possibly kick a winning score with the team selected.

If it is going to be wet, I'd prefer a forward that is willing to crash packs (Michael), rather than Lisle who still seems a bit tentative to split open a pack.

that is true, lisle seems so stiff whenever he get's the ball

still.. :(

no lisle!
With Leuy now gone and Longer therefore the main Ruck, we need a genuine second ruckman because Longer does not have the fitness to play a full game in the ruck. Therefore Michael>Lisle. Lisle hasn't exactly set the world on fire either. Calm done a tad Brisbane2013:thumbsu:

I look forward to seeing how Michael goes as a forward/back up ruck this week. Go Horse!!!!

Usually try to remain positive going into games, but our forward 6 on their established back 6, combined with an elite midfield and the prospect of Patful on Cloke, makes it incredibly hard to mount a case.

Patfull has done well on Cloke in the past.

Yeah, I'm all for it and that's the logical matchup, I'm just wondering if perhaps Voss's confidence in him waned a little bit with how Waite got off the leash. But I don't think Clarke or Staker are at all the answers, maybe for brief periods.

Cornelius and Lisle are proven goal kickers capable of kicking bags? Perhaps in the reserves. Not sure I would make that comment in regards to the seniors. This week it would have been a toss up between Michael and Lisle for that back up ruck spot. I have no doubt the decision was made based on who can do the better job as a back up ruck for Longer who does not have the fitness to ruck a full game.

The Paparone vs Cornelius selection is one I definitely think the match committee got right. Paparone has kicked 3 goals in one game this year. I think he adds a lot more to the side than Cornelius and I unfortunately think Ace has ran out of chances with the coaches. He hasn't performed when given the chance to this year.
