Have to think positively lionshine!

The way I look at this situation is a bit different.

Yeah okay, Leuey is our best Ruckman but Longer is seriously ahead of his development and Collingwood aren't exactly the Ruck giants of the AFL.

We didn't have Rich against Essendon and right now I'd say that Stanton and Watson are in more form then Swan and Pendlebury.

Brown is ageing and can barely provide a contest, his biggest strength is taking the number 1 defender.

Merrett is a big loss but the inclusion of Clarke and possibly Maguire might offset it a little bit.

We have enough small defenders to cover Golby; Elliot Yeo, Sam Docherty, Ryan Harwood, Jed Adcock.

Go Lions!
I am very much a positive thinker BeamStar17 and I love your positivity currently but losing Merrett, Golby, Leuy, and Brown in the space of 2 weeks is a big toll on the team and even if you have better players to come in and cover them, that messes up with the team structure and chemistry immensely. I will still head to the Gabba this Friday however with a positive outlook and with the thought process that we can win:thumbsu:

GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO LIIIOOOOONNNNNNNSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Overall, we are improving at a very good rate. We had so many key players out last week but we played really well. I think if we continue this form till we get Rich, Golby & Merrett back, we will be a bloody good team.

Rich will take the best tagger but that will probably mean that Black and moloney can hurt the opposition really bad.

Against Carlton, if Rocky had kicked that goal, I am almost certain we would have pulled out a win. We got to kick better against Collingwood.

Play Sam forward, get mcguire back if he ready along with Clarke. We need to bolster our midfield..don't know how but may be Patty K's time has come.

Against carlton, we will continue to struggle till we get our midfield right. They rely almost 100% on their midfielders to win as that's their main strength. Our's weakest position is midfield so it's a mismatch which always hurts us against tankers. While pies midfield is also strong, i reckon they area notch below carlton's and that is gonna help us.

I will not be surprised at all if we upset pies. God knows it will be soooooooo awesome

I can't believe Brown has been suspended. Just a free kick. That's it. Mark Fraser is a joke. I am disgusted

I am not too disappointed that Jolly got off because I would rather him in the Pies team than Huddo. Lots of practical inside knowledge rests with Huddo particularly if Longer plays.

This week we need to deal with Cloke and the Qstick. A tall order again. Surely Vossy will not lead Patfull to the slaughter and put him on Cloke. Hopefully we get McGuire and Clark back to deal with them and are able to release Michael to CHF/Ruck or maybe Stakes to CHF. Longer is a given for Leuie. Maybe Longer and Michael will do the best job in the ruck. I am not convinced Lisle is the best option. The crucial battle will be in the midfield again with Swann and Pendlebury. We have to tag one of them.I would tag Pendlebury as I believe you get better bang for your buck than tagging Swann. He just wers taggers down and wins anyway. It's going to be interesting at the selection table and a look into the future of life of life without Browny.

Ex-Collingwood player too.

Surely a conflict of interest and highly suspicious in the grading between the Jolly and Brown incidents.

Irrespective whether Brown goes or not, we need another leading target down forward and its for that reason I would be playing Ace again.

Brown's suspension is an absolute joke. I was under the impression that AFL was a contact sport?? Won't be too long before I end up watching soccer the way things are going. I have no doubt that Browny would have come out clean had glass jaw Jamison stayed on his feet and not crumbled like a 6-year old playing auskick. Browny got hit by a car FFS and i bet he didn't go down like a little girl

If Brown does miss then ace will come in, if McGrath misses as well then maybe we can get paparone in? His running and goal sense would be handy.
Presuming brown plays
Paparone, Clarke in
McGrath and Michael out. Would be good to see karnezis get a run but not sure who we can drop? Bewick was awesome and love the way he plays.
If luey misses then longer will be straight in obviously, we won't lose much as jolly is well past his prime.
Really worried about cloke, he is 3 times better / stronger than Waite and Maguire won't be ready after missing the last 2 months. So it's patful or Clarke- good luck with that.
Still think we can win if we take the game on.

Cmon the mighty lions!!!

not even our old jumper can save us from this one, our team will be weaker this week then last, and we are playing a better team

Collingwood expects defender Heath Shaw to travel to Brisbane this week, having overcome the lower back complaint that kept him out of last week's loss to Sydney. Shaw missed Collingwood's round-eight match through suspension, after he was rubbed out for striking Fremantle's Hayden Ballantyne, and could not be considered for the Swans game due to his minor injury. But football manager Geoff Walsh said he had trained well on Monday and looked capable of lining up against the Lions at the Gabba on Friday night

But recruit Clinton Young's anticipated return from a long-term hamstring injury remains about two weeks away.

Yeah for me the season is gone. I want the Lions to win badly still; but know each win now hurts our picks in next years draft.
I really don't mind the outs we have except when they're young lions like Clarke, Golby and Beams. At least it gives us a chance to experiment further with things. I'm sure Vossy feels differently.

Patty K. must play this week IMO. Enough is enough. Put him in the middle which allows Redden to stay forward permanently. Please stop putting Redden in the middle. He makes a bigger impact forward with his tackling and kicks goals.

Zorko and Rockliff need to be put in the middle to.

Zorko mostly because of his height. More chance to get hit high!

Team as follows:

FB: McGrath Goose Patfull
HB: Adcock Clarke Docherty
C: Karnezes Lester Hanley
HF: Zorko Staker Redden
FF: Rockcliff Lisle Bewick
Fol: Moloney Longer Black

Interchange: Paperone, Bartlett, Polks, Mayes.

Sub: Ace

Major points:
FB: let's go with experience here with big goose in who can help Clarke out with Cloke.
HB: Adcock and doc to provide run and carry. Yeo needs a run in the 2's.
C: Patty K. and Lester provide good size and skill. Patty will provide something they'll struggle to match up on. Enough fuc%*^% around Voss put PK in.
HF: Zorko and Redden to shut down their rebounding of HB and provide scoring capability.
FF: Rockcliff and Bewick are deadly in those positions and provide awesome forward pressure. Lisle only in the team to allow longer to rest forward when needed otherwise shouldn't be there.
Interchange: good mix of versatility. lets give Bartlett a run!
Fol: longer in for Luey

Sub: let's get ace on halfway through the 3rd. Let him run his butt off leading leading leading leading.... Never stop running.

Browny will fight his charge and should get off. TBH I am not that fussed if he is out. I am keen to see how Lisle and co go without him. It would be a snapshot into the future. I think Mayes will get a rest and Karnezis is sure to come in to play up forward if Browny is out.
