Prior to their loss against the Hawks the Pies won 7... not because they have a severely talented list.... it was more due to the 2009 version of the Shinboner Spirit... they played as a team...

With us.. we've missed that Shinboner spirit all season... that spirit that propelled us last year in those comeback games. BUT.... 3rd quarter yesterday against the Swans guess what I saw... Spirit.. and Belief!!

As Morpheus from the Matrix said... "he's starting to believe".. and our boys now are starting to believe... 3 wins in a row will do that to you... now with the confidence of knowing they are capable of beating the Pies we can do it!

Fev was goal-less last time against them and will be itching to make ammends!!

We play our game... play the middle... get Scotland, Carazzo, Joseph, Bentley to play aggressive and Cloke if brought in after his 5 goal effort in the ants.

Judd, Murphy, Simpson, Gibbs with cameos from Betts to be the polish in the midfield.

I dare say I would not be surprised if Joseph annoys Didak sooo much that Didak blows up and smacks Joseph one... leading to a super melee... firing our boys up to bury them by a lot..

I feel good... Not kidding.. but I'm tipping us to win by 72points!

int: wood dick o'bree beams
int: hadley houlihan carrazzo hampson

out: wellingham, l brown, n brown (injured)
in: fraser, dawes, goldsack

WELLINGHAM - go and get 30 touches in the VFL and hope that 25 out of the 30 hit an actual magpie jumper please!!!

L BROWN - surely his time is up and MM starts to take this season seriously by playing 2 RUCKMEN!

N BROWN - i hope not, but it looked bad. Maxwell ahs to play on a man now. Unless we bring Reid in for him.

DAWES - we need a 3rd marking option, full stop. also makes their all their backmen accountable. it's time to play a 3rd tall forward and i dont mean leigh brown.

GOLDSACK - for Yarran or Betts would be a good matchup

FRASER - we need him back in the middle, hopefully MM gives him PROPER support by rucking him with Wood supporting.

out: bentley, anderson, hartlett
in: cloke, hadley and jamison

CLOKE - watching the way hawthorn had renouf up forward making maxwell accountable i think carlton will do the same. cloke kicked 5 in the two's. if hes not in the team then hampson will be the 3rd tall forward with fev and fisher.

HADLEY - was BOG in the two's and could be the man to run with Swan.

Tags and run withs:
Fev v Presti is a no brainer. Presti kept him to no goals last time.
Judd v B Johnson. if that doesnt work then we have no hope. lets hope we're not relying on stopping him.
Swan v Hadley, if they even bother to tag him at all.
Shaw v Grigg. Grigg has a good history of making Shaw accountable and putting goals on the board.
Didak v Scotland/Russell
Davis v Joseph
Betts v Toovey, Betts kicked 3 or 4 last time from memory. no offence intended here but Toovey normally gets the small indigenous forward pocket/midfield types (Davey, Lovett, Hill, Stokes etc...) probably due to his pace and reaction time. too bad he cant use the footy well though.
Fisher v O'Brien, last time against the Blues. Fevola sacrificed his own game to let the smaller forwards do their thing. I think this might be an even more important matchup. Along with the Betts one.

ive had a crack on a monday, i know alot can change to these teams between now and friday.

Out: Hartlett
In: Jamison

The only other change I would consider is bringing Austin back in to the team at the expense of Scotland who was poor against Sydney, but Scotland usually plays exceptionally well against his old side so should get 1 more week.

B: Scotland--Jamison--Thornton
HB: Johnson--Bower--Joseph
C: Carrazzo--Gibbs--Simpson
HF: Grigg--Kreuzer--Yarran
F: Betts--Fevola--Fisher
R: Hampson--Judd--Murphy
Int: Anderson--Bentley--Houlihan--Russell

But Jammo might not pull up again.

I expect him to play but if he doesn't come up in time for Friday night, I'd bring in Austin instead.

Harts was very rusty on the weekend so probably needs another spell in the Bullants.

Austin would be ahead of him so if he is ready, bring him back into the seniors.

Maybe we can give Harts a go in the forward half? Rotate him with Kruz through the forward line?

Blues look to x-factor Walker
The negative in selecting Walker to play against Collingwood in what would be his first senior game this year, is that he will have had only five days in between games after almost five months on the sidelines.
Won't and shouldn't play.
Carlton full-back Michael Jamison is certain to play against Collingwood despite missing Saturday's win over Sydney, but Setanta O'hAilpin will miss for the third week in a row because of a hamstring strain.

Jamison is expected to be available after withdrawing late on the weekend with groin soreness.

How was Hadley BOG in the two (in the official report), supposedly he couldn't hit a target all day

I think it's safe to say if you want to gain some knowledge on the Bullants matches you pretty much have to go. There are so many conflicting opinions on player performances (mine just another one).

Hadley is a beautiful size for his utility role but all I saw yesterday was him butchering the ball. Fair enough he might have had a bad one and it was blowing hard enough to rip a dog off a chain. Would love his hardness Friday night.

PS: When I say I would love his hardness Friday night...

Don't know if Bentley will get dropped, Ratts has been using him as a big body. That much was very obvious on Saturday, and even the game against Richmond.

No thanks. After being thrashed in the backline, Ratts pushed him up forward. He managed to stuff up there too. We really missed Jamison on the weekend. Lucky Bower could really hold down defense. Also Joey and Thorton were excellent.

Outs: Hartlett.
Ins: Jamison.

We're going to need another tall (Austin) or defensive small (i.e. Browne) along with Jamison against Collingwoods forwardline. They have various options tall and small and the last thing we want to be doing is going into a game lacking options to match up on their forwards.

The last thing you want is Anderson taking on someone like Medhurst or Didak. As much as he has been top notch in the past 2 weeks, they're not the type of jobs you'd give to him. You want him running on the smalls like Dick, Thomas, et al.

Joey would be good on the soft Thomas, Daisy would be jumping at shadows. And not to mention Joey is very quick, and very hard at it as well. Then we have AJ on Dick, I love that we have really hard, courageous young kids in the squad now. :thumbsu:

I would prefer AJ to go to Neon Leon and give him a bath, look for Carrazzo to go to Swan or Shaw depending on what we do with Grigg. Our midfield had better be switched on this week in the first half as this is where the game will be most critical, As although he was ordinary poor old Hartlett wasn't given much of a chance with how quick/often it came in at him because our midfield were smashed... something like 80 more disposals at one stage.

Yes I beleive you, you should pound us to kingdom come.

Why's that???

Thats not a good attitude to have really, Collingwood were ordinary on Saturday night, as soon as they got put under a bit of pressure they shit their pants. If we tag Didak Successfully, limit Davis' input we'll go a long way to winning the game.

They have nobody that can go with Judd, i'm looking for him to have a big game. Murphy should go 1 on 1 with Pendlebury and i'll back our bloke to show why he was taken number 1 in that draft. Gibbs to play centre all night and do what he does best, create, create, create.

Carrazzo to Swan (head to head), Russell to Didak, Grigg to Shaw, AJ to Davis, Jamo to Medhurst, Bower to Cloke, Thornton to Anthony or third man up, Anderson to take either Medhurst or Dick depending on Thorntons role at any one time.

We're a big chance this week, on current form the pies deserve to be favourites.

We match up well against the pies and we have two superior players than anything they can throw at us in Fev and Judd and they cant match up on Judd and they've always struggled with Fev.

anything can happen

I was being how do you say, sarcastic.

Based on what i saw in the ants on the weekend.I would think that Walks is still underdone, he needs another 1 0r 2 games back. would not risk him in a big game like Friday night. The pleasing thing he came through unscathed. He was hit hard a few times and shoulder stood up well.

I have heard in one of the papers that Setanta is still injured, hamstring and will miss. BIG loss bc in my opnion he is very important to our forward structure. Defensive pressure wiil be vital in their back half. Shaw and Maxwell set up well for them? That is another reason Sentata is important bc he has good work ethic, defensively as well.

Ratten was just on 3AW, said Walker will spend another week at the VFL, and more annoying, seemed amblivant about the possible inclusion of Stevens (suspect from the tone of his voice that he won't be playing)
